Chapter 13: Roger Pirates Finally Arrive at Their Destination

[Around Blue Star Island]

Massive warships were stationed around the island. If one were to look down from the sky, they would see dozens, if not hundreds, of warships completely surrounding Blue Star Island.

Due to the distance, the people on the island, except for Shanks and Buggy, were unaware of the encirclement.

The Marines had deployed ten times the force of a Buster Call, with the sole purpose of annihilating the Roger Pirates.

It seemed that the Roger Pirates' trip to Laugh Tale had crossed the World Government's bottom line, thoroughly enraging them this time.

On the deck of a warship directly facing the island's harbor stood several men gazing out at the sea. Four were at the forefront, with three young individuals behind them.

They represented the Navy's top combat strength: "Strategist" Sengoku, "Hero" Garp, "Black Arm" Zephyr, and Tsuru. Behind them stood three young men who would one day become the Navy's Admirals.

Nearly all of the Navy's high-level combat power was gathered here, except for Fleet Admiral Kong, who stayed behind to defend their headquarters. If not for the need to protect Marineford, even Kong might have been dispatched by the World Government.

"Crunch, crunch..."

Garp munched on donuts as he complained to Sengoku, "Sengoku, with just this few of us, trying to take down the Roger Pirates is nothing but wishful thinking!"

Having fought the Roger Pirates for many years, Garp knew exactly how monstrous the crew aboard that ship was.

Although their forces today wouldn't necessarily lose, it was impossible to capture the entire Roger Pirates crew. At best, they might take down a few ordinary members; the core fighters were unlikely to be caught.

Unless they were willing to perish alongside the Roger Pirates. But the cost would be too great—they simply couldn't afford it. If the Navy lost its high-level combat power here, the seas would undoubtedly descend into chaos and endless war.

If the Navy couldn't maintain order, the rise of such a scenario was inevitable.

Although Garp's words were somewhat discouraging, Sengoku knew he wasn't wrong. However, the World Government wouldn't have sent them without a plan in place—though Sengoku didn't reveal it.

Sengoku ignored Garp's complaints and directly said, "Your only task this time is to keep Roger occupied. Leave the rest to me—I'll handle it!"

Garp shrugged, "Alright then."

After finishing with Garp, Sengoku turned to Zephyr. "Zephyr, Rayleigh is your opponent. Handle him."

Zephyr nodded. "Got it!"

Next, Sengoku looked at Vice Admiral Tsuru. "Tsuru, Jaban will be your target. Can you manage?"

Tsuru replied, "No problem!"

Sengoku carefully assigned each opponent. Everyone was to engage in one-on-one battles. The three future Admirals were tasked with taking on Kozuki Oden, while the remaining members of the Roger Pirates were left to the other Vice Admirals. Sengoku didn't have to worry about those matches.

Sengoku believed his plan left the Roger Pirates no choice but to engage in a direct confrontation. However, he was unaware that the Roger Pirates had no intention of fighting head-on.

As long as the Navy couldn't stop the Roger Pirates during their charge, the mission to annihilate them would ultimately fail.

Unless the Navy discovered Reno's existence in advance—which was impossible. Reno had only just used his abilities for the first time, and only the Roger Pirates knew about them.

The Roger Pirates were making their way toward the island, while the Navy waited in anticipation. Time ticked away, and in the blink of an eye, two hours had passed.

Thanks to Reno's telekinetic ability to make the ship fly, the journey that should have taken three hours was reduced to two. The Roger Pirates' ship was now close.

Half an hour ago, Roger had ordered Reno to lower the ship to conserve his energy. Otherwise, they would have already arrived.

The crew had gathered on the deck, looking toward their increasingly close destination. They were fully prepared for battle and ready to fight at any moment.

Rayleigh turned to Reno and asked, "You've rested for half an hour. How are you feeling now?"

Reno's condition was critical to their ability to break through the encirclement easily.

Seeing everyone looking his way, Reno sighed and assured them, "As long as I'm not injured, I can keep you all flying for two hours without a problem!"

"Hahaha! Don't worry, little Reno. I'll protect you and make sure not a hair on your head is harmed!" Jaban patted Reno's shoulder as he promised.

Reno brushed Jaban's hand off with a look of disdain and replied, "I'll be staying on the ship. Who's going to harm me here?"

"Everyone, get ready. The Navy's encirclement is just ahead—I can already sense them with Observation Haki!"

Roger's sudden warning brought the crew to full alert.

The officers spread out across the ship to guard against incoming cannon fire.

Reno walked over to Rayleigh and said, "I just remembered—doesn't the Navy have an Ice-Ice Fruit user? If they freeze the sea before we reach the island, we'll be in trouble."

Rayleigh was surprised Reno knew about this up-and-coming Marine but reassured him, "Don't worry. I've arranged for Shanks and the others to wait near the port. They'll join us when we make our move."

The Roger Pirates were well-acquainted with the Ice-Ice Fruit user, who often accompanied Garp. Knowing his ability to freeze the sea, they were prepared.

Reno didn't know what Rayleigh had planned, but he decided to keep an eye on this guy. If the Marine made a move, Reno could ambush him.

After a few more minutes of sailing, they finally spotted the silhouettes of warships less than a kilometer away—at least twenty of them in sight.

Seeing the Navy ships, Roger commanded, "Alright, everyone! Charge straight into Blue Star Island to save our people!"

"Yes, Captain Roger!"

The crew roared their response in unison.

Reno, covering his ears in exasperation, retreated to a corner and squatted. He thought it was best to avoid being noticed.

He didn't want to be identified as a member of the Roger Pirates. If he couldn't stay hidden, he planned to yell "Help!" a few times to make the Navy think he'd been kidnapped.

Not a bad idea, he mused. If worse came to worst, he'd go with that plan. After all, the Roger Pirates were already criminals. One more crime wouldn't make a difference—it's not like they could feel more "itchy" from another "flea."
