One Piece: Burning the Sun God to Ash

Chapter 17: Chapter 17 – The Disappearance of Roger

Sakazuki walked up to the shoreline just as the Buster Call fleet arrived at the coast.

A large number of Marine soldiers disembarked to gather the wounded from the Four Seas Branches and begin bandaging and treatment.

Clutching his chest, Sakazuki walked over.

Vice Admiral Ward Morris, who was commanding the operation, turned around and saw Sakazuki approaching, his upper body covered in mangled flesh and both hands dripping with blood. He immediately called out to the ship's medics.

"Hiss—Medic!"

"Quick, check Sakazuki immediately!"

"How did he get this badly injured?"

"No... cough... cough..."

Sakazuki raised an eyebrow at the medic who came over with a stretcher, his forehead darkened with lines of frustration.

Just as he was about to refuse, a sudden fit of coughing made him obediently lie down on the stretcher.

"While pursuing a pirate, I ran into Charlotte Linlin."

"Unfortunately, I didn't have time to kill him. That pirate ended up being rescued by her."

Lying on the stretcher and receiving the medic's examination, Sakazuki calmly explained the situation to Morris.

Once his wounds were properly bandaged, Sakazuki pushed aside the medic trying to keep him down on the stretcher and got up to stretch a bit.

"So that's what happened. No wonder."

"Hmm? What is it?"

"No wonder Charlotte Linlin went berserk and attacked the fleet. A lot of our soldiers were injured."

"Ugh... cough cough..."

"Hahahaha, it's rare to see that kind of expression on your face, Sakazuki."

Sakazuki coughed awkwardly, clearly aware it was all caused by him.

But instead of being upset, Morris seemed delighted by the unexpected discovery and began to joke.

...

Central Battlefield of God Valley.

Clang!

Zzzzt!

Two long swords, both wreathed in Conqueror's Haki, clashed violently.

The sound of metal striking metal echoed through the air.

Yet the blades never actually collided.

Instead, a small black-purple sphere shimmered at the point of contact.

Crackling sounds erupted as countless bolts of black-purple lightning exploded outward, ravaging the surroundings.

Everything they touched was annihilated, reduced to ashes.

Suddenly, a figure appeared at Rocks' left flank.

His right fist was coated in a nearly solid projection of Armament Haki—so dense only the vague outline of the fist could be seen—as it punched toward Rocks.

With a furious roar, Rocks bellowed:

"Ha!!!"

Another surge of power burst from within his body, forcefully blasting Roger, who was locked in a power struggle with him, far into the distance.

Boom—

Roger crashed through countless crumbling ruins.

Rocks then wrapped his left hand in Conqueror's Haki and clashed fists with Garp's Iron Fist.

Once again came the sound of metal grinding on metal, followed by the shattering crack of glass in the air.

Crack!

From the point where their fists met, countless fractures spread outward, as if space itself were breaking apart.

The stalemate lasted only a moment.

Then space shattered completely, and both were sent flying backward.

Behind the airborne Rocks, the sword-wielding Elder appeared.

His demonic blade exuded a black-and-red aura as he swung at Rocks mid-air.

Rocks twisted in the air to reorient himself and swung his own Conqueror-infused blade to meet the strike.

Clang!

Zzzzt!

The two Haki-coated swords collided.

A blinding white light flashed.

Endless black-purple lightning erupted, as if heralding the end of the world.

Everything it touched was erased from existence, and Rocks was propelled higher into the sky by the shockwave.

Immediately after, the burly Elder appeared. He stomped against the white light and shot into the air.

Flying toward Rocks, he stretched his right arm back, fully charged with Conqueror's Haki, and launched a punch.

There was no time to counter.

Rocks raised his blade to block.

But he was struck like a meteor, crashing down toward the earth. Just then, Kong appeared below, seemingly out of nowhere, and launched a punch!

A compressed, cone-shaped force shot upward at Rocks.

Boom!

The sound was like thunder splitting the heavens.

Every Marine stationed on the coast instinctively turned to look in that direction.

It was like thunder exploding from the flat ground.

The clash of Conqueror's Haki shattered the dark clouds in the sky, unleashing countless bursts of lightning. The battle was still far from over.

Sengoku, Rayleigh, and the others were stationed in the distance, guarding different directions. They maintained peak Observation Haki output, never taking their eyes off Rocks for even a second.

Meanwhile, Roger, who had been blasted away, had not been seen for some time...
