Chapter 237: Chapter 37: Reunion

In Konoha

Haruna had finally left Konoha.

She truly loved the village—the atmosphere, the climate, the scenery. But there was no longer a place for her and her child here.

Selling their house, she packed her belongings and boarded an ox-drawn carriage operated by the Konoha Unlimited Responsibility Transport Company. Together with her child, she headed toward the Land of Rain.

There, her husband Kagami Uchiha awaited her eagerly.

There, a spacious 500-square-meter luxury apartment awaited its mistress.

There, advanced technology unknown in Konoha awaited her, including a curious invention called a "television." There was even a washing machine—just a little chakra, and it could clean clothes for the whole family.

There, the people were said to be remarkably friendly. Rumor had it that those who weren't friendly had been… encouraged to be so.

Most importantly, her husband was there. Though clumsy and occasionally indulgent, he truly loved her.

A Week Later

A week passed in the blink of an eye. The convoy bearing the emblem of Amegakure crossed the wide and smooth Wakkanai Bridge, arriving at this burgeoning village brimming with technological marvels.

Under a rare clear sky, Kagami Uchiha stood at the village gate in a loose black yukata, craning his neck as he peered into the distance.

The cheerful jingling of bells grew louder as the ox-drawn carriage approached the village gate. The busy caravan members began unloading their goods.

Dressed in a wide cloak, Haruna stepped off the carriage, holding the hand of her wide-eyed, curious son.

Kagami's sharp eyes immediately locked onto his wife. Without hesitation, he broke into a run, rushing toward her.

Sweeping his son into his arms and pulling his wife close, Kagami embraced them tightly, saying nothing.

Having brushed against death, Kagami had come to realize that family was the most precious treasure of all.

Changing the clan, changing the village, achieving ideals—none of it compared to cherishing his small, beloved family.

They held each other for a long time.

Finally, Kagami reluctantly released his wife, taking her delicate hand in his own. His face lit up with the warmest smile.

"Let's go home. I've prepared a meal."

"Mm." Haruna nodded, allowing Kagami to lead her. Her smile was serene and gentle.

In the Amegakure Village Center

Inside the village leader's office.

Rinjin lounged on the sofa, one leg crossed over the other, engrossed in a book with no cover.

Perhaps due to the frequent rain, many villagers in Amegakure were evolving into homebodies. Rinjin was no exception.

Another faction of villagers had taken to scientific research. With a five-day workweek and plenty of idle time, they figured they might as well invent things to improve their lives.

Thus, the saying "laziness drives technological progress" proved true.

To enrich their spiritual lives, televisions were created.

To avoid washing clothes by hand, washing machines were invented.

To dry clothes, dryers followed.

The excessive rain, which often led to joint issues, indirectly spurred advancements in medical technology.

In short, this small village was progressing rapidly in ways even Rinjin hadn't anticipated.

Rinjin didn't mind. His rules were simple: do whatever you want, as long as you don't break the village's regulations.

Put simply, it was a philosophy of "freedom within boundaries."

As Rinjin immersed himself in his book, a familiar spatial ripple broke the tranquility of the office.

In the next instant, Tobirama Senju appeared.

Startled, Rinjin quickly sat up, fumbling to hide the book in the coffee table drawer.

This particular book, "Konoha Chronicles: Tobirama Senju Edition ~ A Tale of Love, Hate, and the Ageless Male God! Part III," was definitely not something he wanted the subject to see.

"Ahem… Second Grandpa, what brings you to Amegakure?"

Tobirama glanced at the drawer where Rinjin had hastily stashed the book but didn't comment. Instead, he got straight to the point.

"Is Kagami here?"

Rinjin blinked innocently and nodded.

"Where is he? Take me to him!"

Tobirama's tone was commanding and brusque, more like a family elder than the Second Hokage.

Faced with Tobirama's stern demeanor, Rinjin shook his head firmly.

"No."

"Hmm?"

"No! His wife and child just arrived, and you want to disturb them? That's not very considerate! Just because you don't have a wife doesn't mean you can act like this~"

Tobirama's face darkened instantly. Rolling his eyes, he plopped down on the single-seater sofa beside Rinjin.

It seemed he had silently conceded to Rinjin's reasoning, deciding to wait until Kagami and his wife had… settled things before seeking him out.

Though he lacked personal experience, Tobirama wasn't ignorant of such matters.

Fine, he'd wait until tomorrow to see Kagami.

As this thought crossed his mind, Tobirama reached out with lightning speed, opening the drawer and retrieving the hidden book before Rinjin could react.

Rinjin was momentarily dumbfounded.

What the hell?! Is everyone in your family this fast?

Tsunade's the same way. You're the same way. How is it that every time you reach out, I can't even react?!

While Rinjin stood frozen, Tobirama opened the book.

Realizing what was happening, Rinjin shot to his feet, adopting a righteous tone.

"Second Grandpa, I just remembered—I forgot to wash my underwear! Please excuse me; I need to go home and take care of it, or I won't have anything to wear tomorrow!"

Before Rinjin could finish, Tobirama's face had already turned pitch black. His grip on the book tightened, his knuckles whitening. His once-handsome face now resembled that of a livid donkey.

At that moment, all Tobirama wanted was to kick Rinjin straight to the farthest corner of the Land of Snow.

Look at this nonsense! Just look at it!

He had been dead for less than twenty years, and yet these shameless writers were already fabricating all sorts of absurdities about him!

What's this about the Second Raikage being a virtuous and gentle spouse, an exemplary partner?

What's this about the Gold and Silver Brothers committing murder out of unrequited love?

What's this about Koharu Utatane harboring an undying love for her mentor, remaining unmarried for life?

What's this about the Green Tea Princess of the Land of Tea offering her entire nation as a dowry? I've never even been to the Land of Tea!

What the hell is this?! Is this even the shinobi world I know?!

What Tobirama didn't realize was that this was only the third volume of "Konoha Chronicles: Tobirama Senju Edition." The series had five volumes in total.

What he also didn't know was that Rinjin not only owned this standard edition for casual reading but also possessed a deluxe collector's edition with exclusive illustrations.

Even further beyond his knowledge was the fact that Rinjin personally funded the authors of these books, serving as their number-one patron.

When it came to corrupting the cultural trends of the shinobi world, Rinjin was leagues ahead of everyone else.

Seeing Tobirama seething with rage, Rinjin scratched his head awkwardly before shamelessly aligning himself with Tobirama's indignation.

"Second Grandpa, don't be angry! I'll mobilize the entire Amegakure to track down this author and whip them into tears with a leather belt!"

"…Her?" Tobirama questioned coldly.

"(⊙o⊙)..." Rinjin froze, scratching his head as his eyes darted around nervously. Then, with an awkward laugh, he exclaimed:

"Flying Thunder God! I'm outta here!"
