Naruto: Uchiha Rejects Konoha

Chapter 72: 72. Help Sasuke Open Sharingan

Tsunade was a medical consultant in the Uchiha clan, so she was naturally given a place to live. In order to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, Yagami took a detour and escorted her back. After handing her over to Shizune, he didn't have to worry about the rest.

Then Yagami did not go home to rest. Instead, he went to the police station to keep watch over Orochimaru. Who knows when and how he might contact Danzo.

Orochimaru is powerful, but for now, he still can't escape the limitations of the technique. If he wants to contact Danzo, no matter what method, he himself cannot overcome the distance.

Other Uchiha clan members can also stay here, but they don't have the Sharingan. Instead of letting Orochimaru exploit a loophole, it's better to handle it themselves.

It's not ideal to stay silent all night and just wait and watch. You don't know when the other person will come, and sometimes being fully prepared is just futile.

On a new day, Konoha was as calm as ever. The villagers went about their work as usual. The police department would arrest a few people from time to time and bring them to the prison. There was no trace of anything unusual.

The Third Hokage and Jiraiya had hidden the news very well. Not to mention the spies from enemy villages—even the two advisor elders didn't know what kind of quarrel had occurred between Tsunade and the Third Hokage yesterday.

"Yagami, the Clan Head wants to see you. He has something to discuss."

Uchiha Osamu found Yagamiand conveyed the request from the Clan head, Fugaku.

"Okay! Keep a close watch on Danzo's situation, and send a signal immediately if anything unusual happens."

Thinking that people would be coming and going during the day, Yagami figured Orochimaru would not try to contact Danzo at this time, so he finally left after keeping watch all night.

Anyway, it would only be for a short while, so it shouldn't be a big problem for Osamu and the others to keep watch.

"Got it! Don't worry! We won't relax around Danzo at all."

Although he didn't know why Mingfeng suddenly cared so much about Danzo, Uchiha Yan was more than happy to do anything detrimental to Danzo. He assured Yagami with a confident pat on his chest.

Yagami waved his hand, jumped onto the roof, and rushed to the clan grounds.

"My great Clan head, what could be so urgent that you asked me to come over personally?"

As soon as he arrived at Fugaku's home, Mingfeng saw Fugaku and Sasuke waiting in the living room and couldn't resist making a joke.

"It's about Sasuke. This kid has been down lately and has lost his enthusiasm for training. This won't do."

Fugaku didn't mince words and spoke directly.

"No motivation for practice? You should just watch over him and push him to train! Why ask me to come? I can't practice with him all day."

Hearing this, Yagami was speechless. He thought the leader of the Uchiha clan had encountered some serious difficulty, only to find he was worried about his son!

"I really am considering it!"

To Yagami's surprise, Fugaku didn't refute him but responded seriously, which almost made Yagami hesitant to enter.

"Clan Haad, are you kidding me? I have a lot to do! How can I have time for this sort of thing? Didn't you say it was all good before? You handle things inside, and I handle things outside. My workload is no lighter than yours..."

Yagami said irritably, "It's fine to watch over Sasuke, as long as you know how to train him!"

"Of course I'm not joking. Sasuke's like this because you found a good teacher for Naruto. He's worried about it, afraid he won't be able to compete with Naruto. You started this, so who else should I turn to?"

Fugaku maintained a serious face, his most upright expression, but his words placed the blame squarely on Yagami.

"What?! Don't be ridiculous, I'm still underage! Fugaku, doesn't it bother your conscience to have me look after your apprentice?"

Hearing this, the corner of Yagami's mouth twitched. If Naruto being taken as Jiraiya's disciple is something to discuss, then Fugaku's hidden agenda was crystal clear.

After hearing Yagami's words, Sasuke looked visibly uneasy. His thoughts were simple: Jiraiya is powerful, but even he respects Senior Mingfeng, so Yagami must be even stronger than Jiraiya! If Naruto is Jiraiya's disciple, then he needs a mentor stronger than Jiraiya! That way, he won't have to worry about falling behind Naruto.

Fugaku glanced indifferently at Yagami, as if to say: Do you think I have a conscience?

"Let's put aside the idea of taking a disciple. That's impossible. I can't focus on raising a disciple."

"Besides, considering Sasuke's current training level, growing up within the clan is fine. Even Jiraiya's training of Naruto isn't much different; there's no need to become a disciple."

Yagami scratched his head, feeling a rare headache over the issue. He did value Sasuke, but he didn't want to take him as a disciple!

Setting aside their strength, he and Sasuke were of the same generation, only a few years apart. Becoming master and disciple felt absurd.

"That's true, but…"

"While I can't take a disciple, I can promise to guide him whenever I have time. That's no problem."

Yagami waved his hand dismissively. Besides the other reasons, becoming Sasuke's teacher might bring more trouble than reward. Remember Kakashi and Orochimaru in the original story—both were eventually betrayed by Sasuke. Let someone else have that privilege!

Plus, with the Six Paths Sage watching over him, there was no need to worry; Sasuke would receive the boost he needed in time. Was there really a concern?

"Is that fine? Then Sasuke, I'll leave you to it!... Sasuke, are you satisfied now? Get back to training! If you have any questions, ask Yagami-senpai."

Fugaku nodded thoughtfully and then led Sasuke away.

Yagami was left momentarily stunned. What does "I'll leave Sasuke to you from now on" mean? And "if he has any issues, he should come to you"? Fugaku, you cunning Clan head, are you trying to trap me here?

The corner of Yagami's mouth twitched, but seeing Sasuke's excited expression, he didn't know what to say and could only agree silently.

Forget it, it's just guidance in training. Anyway, it's not an official apprenticeship—just looking after the "second pillar."

"Yagami, don't hold it against me! As a father, I can't let him down."

After Sasuke left, Fugaku spoke with some apology, understanding that Yagami had his own responsibilities, yet he had to encourage Sasuke.

"It's fine! Just think of it as supporting Sasuke. But if he's so worried about being outpaced by Naruto, why not help him awaken his Sharingan?"

Yagami thought of Itachi on his way back and felt he could try to stimulate Sasuke. Based on the original storyline, Sasuke's Sharingan awakened with Magatama during the Uchiha massacre. It's been quite a while now.

"Helping Sasuke awaken? Isn't that… too risky?"

Fugaku was slightly intrigued but grew worried upon recalling the conditions needed to awaken the Sharingan.

"Don't worry, it'll be fine. Just have the clan members act out a scenario. Whether it works or not, I can't be sure."

Yagami gave Fugaku a reassuring look, already drafting a mental script. Sasuke was still a young boy; fooling him shouldn't be too difficult...
