Naruto: Tobirama Reborn, Invincible in the Ninja World

Chapter 78: Chapter 78: After the Seven-Tails, the Six-Tails Awaits

Even though Tobirama and Itachi had resolved their battles swiftly, the day still faded into twilight.

Fighting against jinchūriki was often a matter of moments, most of their time was spent traveling.

Despite their prowess and incredible speed, which far surpassed most shinobi, the vastness of the ninja world demanded days of travel, even for them.

After subduing the Seven-Tails jinchūriki, the two transported her unconscious form back to Konoha using Tobirama's Flying Thunder God Technique. Leaving her in the village's custody, they rested briefly before continuing their mission under the cover of night, heading toward the Land of Water.

By the time Tobirama and Itachi set foot in the Land of Water, dawn was breaking.

The journey had taken them nearly the entire night.

Tobirama, with his Impure World Reincarnation body, felt no fatigue, and Itachi, enhanced by transplanted Hashirama cells, exhibited a level of endurance that left him equally unaffected.

Upon entering the recently reopened country, the two removed their Konoha headbands.

Wearing such identifiers would only complicate Tobirama's plans.

Thus, the local residents saw only two unfamiliar figures:

Two foreign men, both strikingly handsome.

The taller one led the way, clad in simple black robes. His imposing build, sharp red facial markings, and spiky white hair made him instantly eye-catching. His aura of authority carried an intangible weight that seemed to command respect instinctively.

Behind him was a younger man, equally handsome but with a brooding depth in his expression, accentuated by the tear troughs on his face. Despite his youth, his demeanor spoke of vast experience, as though he had lived through countless trials.

As they walked through the streets, they drew curious stares from onlookers.

"Meiko, look at those two over there! They're so dreamy!"

"Wow, the one in front is just my type—though his makeup is a bit odd."

The whispers of infatuated young women floated in the air, but the pair's pace didn't falter, leaving behind only wistful sighs.

Yet not all eyes were benign. Amid the curious gazes lay sharp, clandestine ones.

With his heightened perception, Tobirama immediately sensed them. There was no need to confirm—they belonged to shinobi from Kirigakure.

He paid them no mind. Both he and Itachi had expertly concealed their chakra, presenting themselves as ordinary travelers.

Still, their disguise didn't dissuade the hidden watchers, who soon made their move.

Before long, several figures in black cloaks blocked their path.

"Well, well, you two look unfamiliar. Not from the Land of Water, are you?"

A gaunt man stepped forward, his sharp eyes scanning the duo as he spoke.

The locals, familiar with such scenes, quickly distanced themselves from the area. Many shook their heads in silent pity for the travelers, believing their fate to be sealed.

"Yes, we're not from here," Tobirama replied smoothly, a faint smile on his face. "We're visiting from the Land of Fire. We heard the Fifth Mizukage lifted the country's isolationist policy, so we thought we'd come and see the sights."

He gestured casually toward Itachi. "This is my friend—he's traveling with me."

At the mention of the Land of Fire, the men in black stiffened, their hands instinctively reaching for their weapons.

News of Konoha's Hokage had spread far and wide, and with the Mizukage attending the recent shinobi alliance summit, tensions between the Land of Fire and the Land of Water were at an all-time high.

The mere presence of two men from the Land of Fire in their territory was enough to raise suspicions.

"Relax," the gaunt leader said, motioning for his comrades to lower their weapons. His smile was anything but reassuring. "Hahaha, the Fifth Mizukage welcomes all friendly visitors. It's just a misunderstanding!"

"Still, since you're new here and unfamiliar with the area, why not let us guide you? We'll show you some of the most famous landmarks in the Land of Water."

Without waiting for Tobirama's response, the man took the lead, gesturing for his subordinates to surround the pair. Though their expressions remained neutral, their movements betrayed their readiness to strike at a moment's notice.

Tobirama didn't object. Coincidentally, the path the group took aligned with the direction of the Six-Tails' chakra. Allowing these men to lead would save time—and their lives would serve as payment for their hospitality.

Killing them in public would've been... inconvenient.

The group soon left the city behind, entering a desolate wilderness.

No sooner had they left the last traces of civilization than the men in black acted.

"People of the Land of Fire, die!"

The gaunt leader turned abruptly, flinging a barrage of shuriken.

Tobirama barely moved, redirecting the shuriken with a slight twist of his body, sending them hurtling into one of the black-clad attackers.

The leader's eyes widened in shock, confirming his suspicion: these two were Konoha spies. Drawing his blade, he charged at Tobirama with a roar.

"Itachi."

"Understood."

Tobirama turned away, unfazed, and began searching for the Six-Tails' jinchūriki.

Utakata, the host of the Six-Tails, had abandoned Kirigakure, taking refuge in the wilderness. In the original timeline, he had a disciple and lover—a young woman who often accompanied him.

It didn't take long for Tobirama to locate the immense chakra signature of the Six-Tails.

With a slight glance behind him, he noted that Itachi had already eliminated their assailants. The area was clear of corpses, Itachi having disposed of them efficiently.

"Let's move."

Tobirama strode forward, with Itachi silently falling into step behind him.

In a shadowy cave, the full assembly of the Akatsuki gathered.

At the head of the group, Pain spoke first.

"Zetsu, Deidara, how are the preparations for disrupting the other villages?"

Deidara grinned, his voice carrying a note of glee. "Relax, leader! I almost blew up the Raikage's office in Kumogakure! You should've seen that big guy's face—it was priceless!"

Zetsu's rasping voice followed. "Everything is in place. The other villages are brimming with resentment toward Konoha. War could break out any day now."

"Good."

Pain raised a hand, his voice commanding. "Once the war begins, we move to collect the tailed beasts. Prepare yourselves."

One by one, the shadows in the cave began to fade as the members departed.
