Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Preparing to Go to the Ninja Academy
Chapter 56: Preparing to Go to the Ninja Academy
"Still, my dear mom's breakfast is the most delicious. Eating outside is never as satisfying as eating at home," Orion added.
"Hmph, you brat, you sure know how to talk. You know how to flatter your old mom," Kushina Uzumaki said, looking at Orion with some pride.
"Um, so, I've eaten and I've drunk this morning. Shouldn't I be heading out for a walk now?" Orion said carefully to his mother.
After speaking, Orion tiptoed, wanting to quietly slip away under his mother's nose. At this moment, Orion could only hope that his mother had forgotten what she said yesterday, forgotten that she said she would take him to the Ninja Academy.
Orion's steps were very light. Step by step, his small legs soon brought him to the doorway.
"Wait a minute. Ori, have you forgotten something? You promised your mom yesterday that you would go to the Ninja Academy to study! Why are you trying to sneak away now?" Kushina said with a knowing smile, watching her son's careful attempt to leave the house.
"Ha, um, did you say something about that yesterday, Mother dear? How come I don't remember? Ah, when one gets old, their memory starts to fail. I can't remember, I can't remember."
Originally, Orion thought his mother had forgotten about that matter. He had already reached the doorway, and with just a few more steps, he could leave. At that point, wouldn't it be up to him?
He hadn't expected his mother to pull this move. Just as Orion was about to step out the door, he was called back.
"Old? Ori, you're only four years old... wait, no, I remember wrong, you seem to be five already! Eh, or maybe it's four! Ah, I can't remember clearly." At this moment, Kushina had a confused look on her face and even raised a finger to her chin in thought.
"I'm five. Your son, Namikaze Orion, is already five this year. Really, you can't even remember your own son's age. You're a bit of a failure as a mother!"
Orion turned his head and said to Kushina, who was lost in thought.
"Right, right, it's five, it's five. Also, I'm your mom. Are you trying to lecture your mom now?" Kushina said, slightly annoyed.
"I wouldn't dare, I wouldn't dare! How could I dare to go against my own mother! You could give me ten times the courage and I still wouldn't dare!" Orion replied.
"Hmph, seeing as you're so sincere, I'll let you off the hook this time," Kushina said.
"Sigh! This is so helpless!"
Having been called back by his mother, he couldn't continue to walk out. He could only walk back to the dining table, casually find a chair, and sit down. Sitting on the chair, Orion's face was filled with an unwilling expression.
"Mom, do I really have to go to the Ninja Academy? I really can't learn anything there. Can't I not go? Let's not go, okay?"
After speaking, Orion widened his eyes and looked pleadingly at his mother.
"No. You must go to the Ninja Academy, Ori. Not going is absolutely not an option. Even if you can't learn anything, you still have to go. Are you trying to defy your mother's orders?"
Kushina didn't look at Orion's pitiful expression and spoke with a firm tone.
"Sigh! Alright, alright! I'll go, okay? So when do we have to go? Morning? Noon? Or evening?" Orion asked Kushina.
"When to go? We'll go in a little while. We'll go when your dad, Minato Namikaze, gets here," Kushina said to Orion.
"My dad? Is my dad home too? Isn't he working at the Hokage's office?" Orion's tone was a bit surprised as he asked his mother.
"You brat, you're going to the Ninja Academy. For such a big event, how could your dad not come? Even if your dad didn't want to come, would he dare not to?"
"If your dad doesn't come, your mom will be the first one not to let him off the hook. Don't worry, Ori," Kushina said, patting her chest in assurance.
"It's just going to the Ninja Academy. Do both parents need to see me off? Do we have to make such a grand ceremony out of it?" Orion complained under his breath.
"What?" Kushina noticed that Orion seemed to be muttering under his breath, but because his voice was too soft, she didn't hear clearly.
"Ah! Nothing, nothing. I was just wondering when Dad will get here. How much longer do we have to wait here?" Orion asked his mother, trying to change the subject.
Kushina was successfully sidetracked by Orion's question and replied to him.
"Your dad? He should be here around this time. Just wait a little while, and he'll be here."
"Alright, I'll wait then."
About five minutes passed. A bored Orion had already closed his eyes and was resting, sitting straight up in his chair.
At this moment, a man with short, golden hair walked out from a room. His face was very handsome, and he had a smile on his face, looking a bit similar to Orion.
Kushina noticed the newcomer, glanced at him, and said, "Minato, you're here!"
"Mm, I'm here. Let's go. Let's take Ori to the Ninja Academy!" Minato's voice was very sunny, making people who heard it feel as if they were being shone on by warm sunlight.
As soon as Orion heard the voice, he knew it was his dad, Minato. After all, having been his son for so long, it would be a bit incredible if he still couldn't recognize his voice.
"Let's go! Let's go!"
After Minato arrived, Orion stood up from the chair and walked straight out the door.
Seeing Orion leave directly, Minato and Kushina exchanged a look, smiled, and then followed him out of the house, closing the door behind them as they left.
Arriving on the main street, Orion noticed that there were quite a few people at this time. Although it wasn't as crowded as at high noon, there were still a lot of people now. At the very least, the streets were already filled with snack stalls, and those shops were now open for business.
Walking onto the street, Orion stretched his waist and breathed in the fresh air. As expected, the air here was still not as good as the air on the outskirts of Konoha, but it was undoubtedly several times better than the air on Earth.
"The Ninja Academy, where is the Ninja Academy?" Orion walked while trying to recall the location of the academy in his mind.
Because Orion had been in the Konoha ninja village for several years and had passed by the vicinity of the Ninja Academy a few times, he still knew where it was.
But in this past year, Orion had spent most of his time training and improving his strength in that spot on the outskirts of Konoha. He hadn't often walked around the village, so his memory of the academy's location was a bit hazy.
"Oh! I remember now. The Ninja Academy is over there."
Suddenly, Orion remembered the location of the Ninja Academy and started walking slowly towards it.
