Chapter 92: Naruto's Predicament
"This..." Suguru's eyes quaked. "Isn't this a bit... dangerous?"
Suguru took out a scroll. Looking through the lines upon lines of text, Suguru searched for a portion he kept only to himself.
There were a few parameters there indicating unique situations. One of which was the possibility of using Kurama's chakra for a truly unique formation that could sense all negative emotions.
'...Did Danzo steal my notes somehow?' Suguru was vaguely intrigued.
If not for the growing presence of the Kyuubi's chakra looming throughout the village, Suguru would indeed have thought so.
Instead, it seemed like Danzo had come up with it himself after learning how Sunagakure used Shukaku's chakra to power their formation. However, there was a small problem with that.
'The formation...' Suguru's gaze swept through the layers of seals imprinted throughout the village. 'Isn't this a rather sloppy attempt?'
Upon reaching the latter parts of his scroll, Suguru compared his notes to Danzo's creation. Although there were a few truly well-defined things, there was a rather dangerous assumption made in the formation's creation.
Even though Danzo's version had its pros compared to Suguru's own... He obviously did not consider a fact that he couldn't have known.
'Based on this alone, it seems like Danzo is unaware that the Kyuubi was split into two halves.' Suguru made a few mental calculations. 'He did not account for the Yin-Yang imbalance of the halved Kyuubi within Naruto. The formation is too geared towards balance... It's too general.'
What Suguru had theorized was specifically for the Yang half of Kurama within Naruto. In comparison, Danzo seemed to assume the existence of Kurama's Yin half as well — he built a formation for a complete Kyuubi... Which made sense.
But now, there were even more inefficiencies than what Sunagakure came up with.
'Perhaps if Danzo had a way to retrieve the Yin half from Minato in the Reaper Death Seal...' Suguru shook his head. 'No... I'm not sure if anyone but Orochimaru would have the repertoire to do such a thing.'
He continued to look around Konohagakure's landmarks. He identified the locations where the formation was weakest and made a rough sketch of its sensory field. Along with a few calculations...
Suguru realized that the formation was a ticking time bomb.
'Kurama... are you planning an escape so early on?'
Suguru was thus tempted to visit the Demon Fox as he did with Shukaku. Especially since Naruto was currently out of commission, he could perform the meeting in secret.
With a blink, Suguru replaced his Shinrakugan with his Sharingan, melding it into his Kaisugan's [Clairvoyance].
Then, Suguru used the Eye of Hypnotism to meet Kurama in the space where the latter was sealed.
***
"Hm..?"
Kurama felt a presence suddenly invade his space. It traveled through time and space, even going so far as to bypass the seal on Naruto, just to appear right in front of him.
However...
Kurama could not see who it was.
There was no one there despite his senses telling him there was indeed someone there. It was such an odd dissonant feeling that he had never felt before.
Just as Kurama was about to express confusion, a figure began to form.
First, it was their eyes — gleaming in the deep, tomoe-stained crimson glow of the Sharingan. Then, the figure's body was slowly formed.
Long silver hair that reached below his waist, tipped with a beautiful golden sheen. A short, seemingly fragile stature.
The soft features of a child thus appeared before Kurama, looking at him with an unblinking gaze.
"...Human,"
A terrifying wave of bloodlust and hatred burst out of Kurama like a tsunami. His palpable animosity was delivered through the weight of his boiling chakra.
"Those are the eyes of the Uchiha."
Kurama's voice seemed to shake the figure's very existence. His ethereal form seemed to distort due to all that unbridled malice.
"However..."
That face... It was a familiar one. Kurama had seen it before, interacting with Naruto. The teasing, the subtle yet ever-present playful mockery... He knew who it was.
"You are not one of their kin."
In response to the hostility Kurama displayed, Suguru chuckled.
"Hello, Kurama-sama. It seems like you already know who I am. However, I'd like to reintroduce myself."
With a bow, Suguru lowered his gaze. His tone was ever-fawning as usual. Kurama seemed to find it odd that his name had been used with such respectful honorifics.
"My name is Hiryu Suguru, and I was just wondering if you were free to chat."
***
Kurama looked at the boy in front of him, unsure of how to respond. What did he mean, 'free to chat?' and why was he asking such a question?
"Brat, if you were sealed within some human child, would you be busy? Use your brain."
Suguru's smile cracked. Straightening himself up, he let out a cough.
"That is a good point..."
Then, Suguru gestured at the image of Naruto outside the gates of the Eight Trigrams Seal. Although Naruto's pitiful, quivering form was quite amusing to Kurama, Suguru was not on the same page.
He found the quivering quite unpleasant.
Thus...
"Would you like to visit the realm of my consciousness, Kurama-sama? I can prepare a game of shogi to pass the time."
"Ho?" Kurama scoffed, "And why would I want to do that?"
Suguru shrugged in reply. He gazed straight into Kurama's eyes. "Why not?"
"Damn cheeky brat... Stop bothering me and get out of this place."
A wave of chakra then enveloped Suguru in a constricting cocoon. In the next moment, he was forced out of the space within Naruto's seal.
***
"...Kurama could do that?"
Outside Konohagakure, Suguru was very surprised that he was kicked out of Naruto's subconscious plane. It was a very weird feeling to be surrounded by such a terrifyingly vast amount of chakra.
For a moment, Suguru felt as if he had been plunged into the depths of the Pacific Ocean. The force of the water all around him created a pressure like no other.
He thus realized that it was his own panicking instincts that led him out.
"I wonder when I can achieve such terrifying depths of chakra..."
Sighing, Suguru lamented at his first rejection. Kurama was a little harder to butter up to when compared to Shukaku. That demon fox must've sensed the ravenous hunger that Suguru had within him.
Because Suguru was indeed infinitely close to drooling.
'The Kyuubi's chakra...' Suguru gulped, 'It probably tastes like high-quality steak.'
Just the aroma of Kurama's existence made his mouth water. A mere passing gaze had made his stomach growl.
Suguru wanted nothing more than to devour Kurama's chakra.
