Soon the group discussed their next course of action. Katsuro, who was still new to using the Flying Raijin was not able to take anyone else with him while teleporting and he decided to stick with the Sannin for a while, as they discussed what to do. He was not exactly needed on the Iwa front anyway.

Soon they were in a cave, seeking shelter from Amegakure's constant rain. As they spoke they soon sensed the presence of 3 people, "They are kids," as Jiraiya pointed out.

Tsunade said firmly, not quite shouting, "We know you're there, show yourselves."

Soon, an orange haired child in rags walked out, seemingly unafraid.

"Give me some food!" he demanded. Definitely unafraid.

"Where are your parents?" Jiraiya asked.

"They were killed by Shinobi in this war," the child replied darkly. Katsuro's heart ached - the boy reminded him of himself after his own parents' deaths. Poor kid.

To his words, Tsunade and Jiraiya's expressions morphed into ones of surprise, and then hardened, before holding out their food for the boy to take.

"Nagato! Konan! Come on out - they won't hurt us!" A red haired boy and blue haired girl emerged from behind the rock pillars, and they grabbed the food right out of Tsunade and Jiraiya's hands.

Wait. That hair - And his chakra -

"What's your name, kid?" Katsuro asked, directing his question at the boy with the long red hair covering his eyes. The child didn't respond, seemingly afraid, staring at his Leaf headband.

"Why do you wanna know his name?" the orange haired boy asked defensively, almost as if preparing to fight.

"I just do. What's your name, kid?" he repeated, this time trying to sound kinder. The red-haired boy looked at the other boy, who by this point seemed to be the group's leader, and after he nodded, the child finally responded.

"N-Nagato," his voice was barely a whisper.

"Surname?"

"I - I don't know," he said again, sadly.

"What about your parents? Have they always lived in the Hidden Rain Village, or did they just come here? Do you have any relatives with you?"

"Hey, what's with all the questions?" the orange haired boy, seeing his friend's growing discomfort, and from rising suspicion from Katsuro's interrogation, spoke up. Katsuro almost smiled at the boy's defensiveness.

They're probably all orphans and aren't related to each other, but he's looking out for him like he's his own.

"I think I might know something about your family, Nagato," Katsuro told the red-haired boy, who looked at him confused, while Tsunade's eyes widened at his words.

"Wait - you mean, Granny Mito and Kushina, right?"

Katsuro merely nodded.

"So, Nagato? Did your parents always live in Amegakure?"

"I - I think I heard them say something about-" Nagato looked at his friend again, who nodded.

"They said something about escaping from somewhere. And that they were lucky?"

Katsuro's heart started to beat faster, as excitement flowed through him.

"And what about your relatives? Do you have any?" Nagato shook his head - a slight disappointment, but Katsuro's hopes were still high. If his parents were survivors, that means there have to be others! I can find them, and rebuild their clan!

"Nagato, listen to me - you're part of a very special clan, one that my clan is very close to - the Uzumaki clan. Have you heard of them?" he told the child kindly, to which Nagato's and his friends' eyes widened. Nagato shook his head.

"The Uzumaki's are really powerful - they have massive chakra reserves, and they're masters of Fuinjutsu - sealing. The lady that raised me was an Uzumaki, y'know - and a girl that's like my own little sister is one too. And you see Tsunade over there? She's part Uzumaki too! She's a part of your clan - a part of your family!"

Nagato's eyes widened further, and looked towards Tsunade, who gave the child a small smile, recognising that the child, who had lost so much, probably yearned for a family.

"My clan?" Nagato muttered, looking down. Katsuro's hopefulness grew.

"Nagato - come back with me to Konoha. You can bring your friends too - you can meet Kushina, she's only a few years older than you guys - she would love to meet another Uzumaki!"

He addressed all 3 of the children there now.

"All of you can come - this place is no place for orphans. You can live with me, and I promise, I'll do my best to keep you all safe."

The orange haired boy's eyes widened, as did the girl's. Nagato looked at them all, and a silent conversation seemed to be happening between them.

What could they possibly be thinking about? Don't they realise that if they stay here, they could die?

Finally, Nagato turned back to him.

"S-Sorry, mister. But I want to stay here, with Yahiko and Konan. They're my family now." The Sannin's eyes widened at the boy's declaration, as did Katsuro's.

"I understand, but then why don't you want to come as a family then? You would still be together?"

The orange-haired boy, Yahiko, spoke up now.

"We're going to change the Hidden Rain Village. We're going to save this place, and end all wars," he said with conviction. Katsuro looked at Yahiko for a moment, then at the other two, and saw the same determination in all of their eyes. While other Shinobi might have laughed at the children's bold words, none of the Leaf Shinobi there did.

Katsuro sighed. I won't be able to change their minds - they have the same determination that I did when I was their age. And it seems like they don't want to leave their home, where their parents are buried either. Sorry, Kushina - seems like you'll have to wait a little longer.

"In that case, I understand. Here, at least take this," he said, offering the children his entire rations. The children's eyes widened again at his gesture.

"You're all small kids. You need all the food you can get - besides, it wouldn't do for us Leaf Shinobi to let any of you die, considering we're on your lands."

Nagato stared at Katsuro's eyes for a second, then at the headband that he was wearing. Tsunade was also quick to hand over her own rations, and she was followed by Jiraiya. However, Orochimaru, Katsuro noticed, made no such move to provide his food.

To be fair, they probably can't carry all of it. But I wonder…

His thoughts were interrupted by Jiraiya speaking to the supposed leader of the trio.

----

Elsewhere, the report had reached the Hokage and Konoha's main camp. With the reaction greatly boosting morale among the ranks. The Hokage made an effort to spread the news of his disciple being conferred the title of Sannin while subtly avoiding Katsuro's own achievements. However, through the likes of Kaito and even Sakumo his own title of Wind Emperor was also sung with praise. The Hokage had his hands tied, unable to dispute the rumours without causing issues and almost visibly felt his hold on the village and the Shinobi weaken. With the news of Katsuro using the Flying Raijin to arrive with the new S rank Jutsu made Hiruzen extremely anxious. Before he had somewhat deluded himself into believing that Katsuro at most was equal to him in strength. After all, they both fought Onoki right? But now, with Katsuro forcing even Hanzo the Salamander to retreat, a man even Hiruzen feared? Katsuro was more than a threat, his clear opposition to the current leadership gave Hiruzen no relief. And the fear of knowing he now had to watch out for the fastest Jutsu in the world? Hiruzen would not sleep peacefully.

But the news continued to be deliberately spread by Konoha, with the Kage's of other villages not taking the news well. Only the Third Raikage and Third Kazekage saw it somewhat positively. Albeit for different reasons, Raikage A was glad to see a new strong Shinobi he could fight but the Kazekage was finally glad that he surrendered when did.

The news was especially dreary for Onoki. Hanzo had dealt Konoha a significant blow, but had failed to kill any of their strong Shinobi. He had even retreated from the war altogether! Now Konoha had the momentum among all their other advantages too!

With the war nearing its end, the Sannin who had been injured in their fight against Hanzo were allowed to go back to the village since Konoha now had an overwhelming advantage. But Jiraiya who had just been conversing with his companions about not going back to the village, to potentially write another book or just travel seemed to find a new purpose as he proposed to stay with the children. Katsuro, shouldering the responsibility of a clan leader made his way back to the Iwa front where his clan members were. Unfortunately, he had yet to leave a mark near the Camp but now with his expertise in the Flying Raijin finally reaching a threshold? Soon there would be nowhere he couldn't reach.

As he came back he was met with cheers from all Konoha Shinobi alike. While the losses of the battalion were heavily felt, the achievements of the Sannin and Katsuro brought pride to the Shinobi of Konoha who could call themselves the comrades of those who had battled a living legend.

His titles of 'Stormbreaker', 'Bane of Bijuus' and now 'Wind Emperor' were shouted with vigor. Hearing the last one, his mouth twitched a little.

Wind is probably one of my worst attributes… couldn't he have called me Flame Emperor or something??
