Meanwhile…
Deep within Amegakure, Orochimaru, Jiraiya and Tsunade faced Hanzo the Salamander. They were battered and exhausted but kept fighting, with the bodies of their injured and deceased comrades laying behind them.
Hanzo threw kunai attached with explosive tags, forcing all 3 Konoha Shinobi to dodge. But, the attacks seemed to multiply, attaching to Tsunade's legs and climbing up next to them. Jiraiya reacted instantly, using the "Ninja Art: Needle Jizou" to elongate his hair and grab Tsunade just before the tags exploded. His hair wrapped them both in a protective embrace against the explosions.
After the explosions died down, swiftly using the opportunity of obscure diversion, through the smoke, Orochimaru used his "Hidden Shadow Snake Hands!" grabbing onto Hanzo and entrapping him. He called out to his companions who made use of the opportunity. Jiraiya shot needles of his hair at his enemy, using 'Needle Hell', to which Hanzo, standing on top of Salamander, dodged using the Body Flicker Jutsu.
The trio grew frustrated and started to lose hope.
"Our techniques aren't working!" Orochimaru stated. It was at this point, Tsunade remembered the talisman Katsuro gave her - despite how hopeless their situation was, she had an unwavering faith in him and listened to his instructions, sending chakra into it before she used the Mystical Palm Jutsu to heal Jiraiya, who was already injured due to a previous attack from the Demigod.
With a moment of rest, which was rare, Hanzo spoke suddenly.
"I predict Konoha will win this battle. Therefore I will let you live."
Jiraiya in his frustration and helplessness shouted, "We don't need your pity!"
Hanzo ignored him and continued, "in exchange tell me your names…"
But as their conversation continued, it was interrupted by a blur appearing before them with such impossible speed, they didn't notice him come to a halt in front of them. A tall man, with long white hair, wearing the same Konoha grey steel armour as the Third's disciples and with a Katana strapped to his back, had appeared.
His arrival brought shock to all the participants of the battle, as they watched him look around and gather his bearings.
Tsunade whispered, almost not believing her eyes, "Suro..?"
He turned looking behind him, giving her a slight smile, but his eyes showed a raging fire that threatened to consume the world.
Katsuro turned back, looking at the man in front of him through the rain. He wore the distinctive gas mask with long blonde hair, and if that wasn't enough, he stood atop a giant salamander.
I did it, it worked. It's still far too dangerous to use in battle yet, but still, it worked. I made it in time.
Like the roaring flames of a bonfire, Katsuro suddenly flickered, appearing next to Hanzo unsheathing and slashing with his sword in one motion. His attack was stunningly blocked by the leader of Amegakure with his sickle, and was pushed backwards. Getting so close, Katsuro finally got a first hand experience of the effects of the poison his salamander, Ibuze, had. Even just by being in the vicinity, the Senju Patriarch felt it contaminate his system while his body fought it off.
Katsuro formed the hand signs for his Lightning Style: Thunderclap Impulse, seeking to end the fight quickly.
That poison's strong- can't inhale too much of it or else I'm going to have a problem.
He attacked with his sword with precise attacks that seemed to give Hanzo no room to manoeuvre, but his experience, unpredictability and versatility with the sickle and chain kept him safe. As he was rebounded, Katsuro formed the hand signs for and sent a Wind Style: Sword Wind Cutter Jutsu, forcing Hanzo to dodge.
Utilising the time, he formed the Earth Style: Swamp of the Underworld Jutsu, albeit on a much smaller scale than he had over a year ago. It caused Hanzo's salamander to become trapped and start to sink, and meanwhile, Katsuro sent a dragon made of the water, utilising the rain in Amegakure with a Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet, targeting Hanzo, who was forced to dodge once again, but this time without his Salamander. Hanzo counterattacked using his explosive tags in a similar fashion as before, but the speed of Katsuro, with his Shunpo, left it almost useless. As Katsuro sped in, looking to end the fight, Ibuze suddenly released a purple mist from its mouth. Katsuro was enveloped in it, unable to dodge in time to avoid everything, due to the large range. As he inhaled some of the vapour, he could tell instantly it was poison, but before he could even feel the effects, Hanzo used a Fire Style Jutsu on the purple cloud, causing it to ignite in an explosion, almost instantly catching Katsuro in the flames, who was still near it, being caught off guard. He reacted as quickly as he could, aided by his Jutsu, and braced himself but was still sent flying back, with burns on his forearms.
Tsunade cried out in worry and shock, while Orochimaru and Jiraiya prepared to attack, but stopped themselves, seeing Katsuro get up, giving them an okay sign.
He got up from the wreckage of a tree, and started coughing violently. He felt horrible - despite the damage, normally he would be raring to go, but what worried him was how sluggish and tired he felt. The poison was affecting him, and far too quickly. His body was naturally extremely resilient and should not have suffered this much in such little time.
What's going on? Even if that Salamander's poison is potent, I shouldn't be this helpless!
With no time to think, Katsuro shook off the damage, rolling his joints. His knowledge as a medical nin and time in the hospital with Tsunade was not just for show, and he quickly realised the root cause. It was his own Jutsu - the Thunderclap Impulse had sped up the circulation of the poison throughout his body. With this thought, he dismissed the Jutsu, causing the flickering aura of lightning to disappear. Immediately he felt the effects, the spread of the poison had slowed down, and he could almost visibly see the purple tint in the veins of his arms start to recede.
Katsuro made a shadow clone, before engaging the so called Demigod in close combat, while the shadow clone used all the chakra it was given to create a large bird made of flames that flew into the salamander, which was still struggling inside the swamp. "Fire Style: Cry of the Vermillion Bird!" The explosion greatly damaged the summon, forcing it to be sent back.
Seeing his summon and the Konoha Shinobi's shadow clone both poof into smoke, Hanzo clicked his tongue before making space. He used his sickle to cut himself in his lower left abdomen. Katsuro questioned his actions, as he watched his enemy seem to help him, but as he saw a dense purple cloud of poison, he understood. Katsuro grimaced while raising his sword. I can't use the Thunderclap Impulse right now, even with Shunpo, his experience is stopping me from landing a meaningful blow. I need to increase my speed… While the Flying Raijin was not quite combat ready, Katsuro had recently developed a Justu, drawing inspiration from his first major enemy, Roshi. He had intended it to be used in conjunction with the Thunderclap Impulse and was still not fully perfect, despite it being pretty much the only thing he had worked on throughout the war other than the Flying Raijin, but it seemed it would make its debut here.
