Naruto: The Senju Patriarch

Time passed as the Senju clan had settled and continued their daily activities. The shinobi continued to go on missions but Katsuro noticed a death rate far too high to be normal. Already the Senju had lost 3 Genin and 2 Chunin. Katsuro had given his word to protect his clan, and was extremely suspicious of these deaths, which only served as proof of his earlier theories. It would be bad enough if they were being sent on more dangerous missions on purpose, but Katsuro sensed something even more nefarious at play.

On the next mission that Senju shinobi were involved in, Katsuro decided to take matters into his own hands, and took it upon himself to directly investigate. After the 2 shinobi in the mission, Bumi and Naza (who were both Chunin), left the Senju complex, he tailed them, masking his chakra and staying out of sight so they and the Root shinobi monitoring the compound wouldn't notice him. Bumi and Naza met up with the rest of their team, and the team set off on their mission.

For a while, nothing untoward happened, and Katsuro almost thought that he was wasting his time. But then, he noticed it - the chakra of 4 individuals - relatively strong, certainly at least one Jonin level - also tailing the team, albeit closer to them than he was. Hmm, this is really suspicious, almost a set up, Katsuro decided. He saw the ninja - they appeared to be shinobi from Iwagakure, wearing their signature red clothing. But it was highly unlikely such a team would be so deep within Konoha territory without the village being aware. Katsuro thought of a possibility that made sense and seethed internally - Danzo! He's using the Root to disguise as enemy shinobi to either kill or capture Senju clan members! That way, the other survivors report it back to the village. It's textbook Danzo, using illusion to achieve his goal and preserve the village's strength. He assessed the situation further, noticing many things: the Root team still hadn't made their move yet - likely because they were still too close to the village. Bumi and Naza were both Chunin, and the other 2 shinobi were Genin. Unsurprisingly, the Root are cowards. They only attack when they know they'll win. Finally, only half of that team was Senju - the other half both being civilian ninja with no swap or power, selected so that even if they noticed things were amiss, it would not have an effect. Whatever it is, it doesn't matter - I'll need to confirm it if Danzo and the Root are targeting my clan. The Patriarch's rage was so great that he almost unintentionally released his chakra - almost. 

As if they could hear his thoughts, they made their move. From the trees, the shinobi separated into their own directions - each one in front of, behind, and to the left and right of the weaker team, covering any possible exit. Even Katsuro had to admit that they were good - most shinobi wouldn't be able to detect their movements, as proven by Bumi and Naza's team continuing on with their mission. These shinobi were clearly adept in stealth, a key aspect of Anbu type shinobi, further indicating that they were indeed from the Root.

Finally, the shinobi emerged from their hiding, specifically seeming to target the 2 Senju members. They wasted no time or words, immediately attacking. Their attacks tried to incapacitate more than kill.

All of them are using Kenjutsu and 2 of them have chakra suppressing seals prepared. They're taking all possible precautions and seem to prioritize capture. They're well prepared, I have to admit. Katsuro noted. The shinobi were fast too - their targets had no time to react to the threat. Unfortunately for them however, Senju Katsuro was faster. 

"Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu!" 

3 Shadow Clones and the original rushed to meet the attack of the Shinobi, raising their Katana. The shinobi immediately fell back slightly, momentarily surprised by the intruder.

"C-clan leader!" Bumi spoke, the relief on his face obvious. Before one of Katsuro's Shadow Clones could offer any words of encouragement, one of the stronger shinobi - likely just below a Jonin- spoke.

"Senju Katsuro," he said, his voice monotone and devoid of emotion. "The unworthy leader of the Senju clan, it would be in your best interest to surren-" The shinobi didn't get the chance to finish his sentence, as the shadow clone before him rushed forward, swinging the short sword in a deadly downward slash imbued with Lightning chakra.

Katsuro's speed was almost impossible to react to with just his physical strength. The Shinobi raised his sword to block, barely doing so, but Katsuro used his free hand to punch using Tsunade's chakra expulsion technique. The punch had devastating power, wreaking havoc inside the Shinobi and sending him flying back causing even more damage. 

The other shinobi looked on in sheer shock. They had been unable to react in time to help their comrade. However, they were quick to adapt. They had underestimated Katsuro since he was not a shinobi, but seeing him instantly take down a Tokubetsu Jonin, even if taken by surprise, led them to take him seriously. The shinobi glanced at each other, before flickering back to regroup. Seeing this, Katsuro dispelled his shadow clones.

"I think I have an idea of who you really are. You made a mistake targeting my people."

Bumi and Naza were still in shock from the situation, but also in awe of their Patriarch, the supposed failed genius. Hearing his words, their chests swelled with pride and a sense of security washed over them, despite the situation. They had heard the Patriarch was strong from the words of Jonin of the clan who had sparred with him, praising his name like the former Hokages, but only saw it for themselves now. 

When it looked like he would continue talking, suddenly blue needles rushed out of Katsuro's mouth at a high velocity. Katsuro used Water Style: Heavenly Weeping, which required no hand signs - the Jutsu was greatly effective, with 2 needles striking another Chunin in the chest. Katsuro didn't stop for a second, immediately making the handsigns for Lightning Style: Thunderclap Impulse, before using Shunpo to close the distance rapidly. The shinobi were surprised seeing the drastic increase in speed which he had not shown before, and after a brief clash, another had lost his head to Katsuro's sword. The Root Jonin reacted quite quickly, using the Wind Style: Vacuum Sphere. He shot numerous bullets of wind which Katsuro dodged using Shunpo once again, forcing the Jonin into a close range clash. He overwhelmed him easily, especially with his now enhanced parameters, but the shinobi was still a Jonin level ninja who had survived all this time with his strength. He did not go down as easily, despite him suffering a stab through his kidney, but he managed to retreat slightly. Katsuro used the Fire style: Fireball Jutsu, increasing the chakra to the point that the destructive power of the fireball rivalled an A Rank Jutsu, and the size was impossible to dodge at the still close range. The Jonin attempted to use Water Style: Water Formation wall to block it, but the fireball evaporated the water and continued onwards, swallowing the Jonin, who was hindered by his injury, whole.

This left just the Chunin who had been struck by Heavenly Weeping. Katsuro seemed to almost teleport next to him, and disarmed him easily, grabbing his wrist when he attempted to strike with his sword and twisting - almost breaking the hand. Despite the pain, the shinobi only grunted, being forced to release his sword. Before any further moves could be made, Katsuro struck him in the chest between the 2 holes caused by the Heavenly Weeping, leaving a chakra restricting seal. 

"At this point I'm 99% sure but let's confirm it anyway." Katsuro muttered, moving to reveal the shinobi's mask.
