Naruto: The Savior of the Shinobi World is a Liar?

Chapter 53: Chapter 54: Partings Multiply Woes, the Leaving Less Afflicted Than Those Who Remain

Crunch…crunch…

Hyuga Kumo strolled along the road, the howling of the wind and snow unrelenting.

The raging blizzard of yesterday had finally exhausted its strength before dawn, but it also left a thick layer of snow blanketing the ground.

Thump! Thump!

Distant, muffled sounds reached his ears, torn apart by the howling wind and snow. The closer Hyuga Kumo got, the clearer the sounds became.

The paths trod by pedestrians were completely covered by the snow, leaving only Hyuga Kumo's footprints on the ground. The entire village seemed to have been washed clean overnight.

But the sky was a depressing, leaden gray, stingily revealing a sliver of bleak morning light, reflecting off the snow with a deathly chill.

Hyuga Neji stood in the center of this white, deathly still world, still wearing that thin black mourning garb. His youthful face was expressionless as he hammered away at the wooden training dummy in the courtyard.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Completely abandoning the Gentle Fist techniques, he used only the most primitive and brutal force, driving his fist again and again, each impact emitting a teeth-grinding thud.

The skin on his knuckles rapidly tore and peeled, and beads of bright red blood seeped out, staining the wooden dummy with patches of glaring crimson.

Each swing of his fist sent tiny bloodlines flying through the air, splattering on the pristine snow at his feet like exquisitely blooming red plum blossoms.

Clearly, the boy was once again using self-destructive training to vent his inner sorrow and anger on the wooden dummy before him.

"How pitiful."

Hyuga Kumo crossed his arms over his chest, leaning against the courtyard gate, and laughed as he watched the unmoved Neji, "A meaningless outlet. Did you want me to hug you, and say with pity, 'Don't hit anymore, it's all in the past'?"

Hyuga Neji's movements suddenly froze. He stood in place and slowly turned to look at Kumo, his white eyes filled with resentment.

"What do you even know?" Hyuga Neji said with a voice hoarse with hatred, "You couldn't even protect my father's body. You're just a helpless piece of garbage!"

Hyuga Kumo really couldn't muster even a shred of anger towards a child's fit of pique.

However, if he was just going to vent his anger and resentment on a speechless wooden dummy, then it really was meaningless.

"Genius of the Hyuga branch family." He asked with a smile, "Dare to make a bet with me, a piece of garbage?"

Hyuga Neji didn't answer immediately, only silently gazing at Hyuga Kumo.

So, Hyuga Kumo put both hands behind his back, nodded slightly, and smiled at Neji, "I'll let you use both hands, Hyuga Genius."

As if his sensitive nerves had been stimulated by his contempt and mockery, an expression of anger finally surfaced on Hyuga Neji's youthful and usually calm face.

He did look down on Hyuga Kumo. From that Hizashi-sama and his father, he could feel that omnipresent pressure, but from Hyuga Kumo, he felt nothing at all.

But it was this piece of trash that was famous in the clan, who actually had the nerve to say that he would let him use both hands!

"You bastard!"

As soon as the words fell, Hyuga Neji's figure rushed towards Kumo. His attack subconsciously used Gentle Fist techniques.

Hyuga Kumo gently inserted his toes into the snow on the ground. As Neji raised his palm to strike, Kumo had already stirred up snow and sent it flying towards his face. In an instant, all Neji could see was whiteness, like a torrential downpour.

Hyuga Neji violently swiped his left hand, shattering the blinding snow that was coming at him, only to find that Hyuga Kumo's figure had already disappeared before his eyes. The next moment, almost as a conditioned reflex, he swung his palm to his right.

Thump!

Hyuga Neji guessed correctly.

His palm and Hyuga Kumo's raised calf collided, the force like waves crashing against a steadfast cliff.

The snow beneath their feet shook and scattered around them, and Neji staggered backwards, uncontrollably dragging two trails in the snow.

"What's wrong, Genius?" Hyuga Kumo lowered his leg, narrowed his eyes, and sneered, "Can't even handle this little bit of force?"

What was going on?

It felt like the force had been returned to him?

Looking at Hyuga Kumo in front of him, the contempt that Hyuga Neji originally felt in his heart instantly vanished, replaced only by a quiet seriousness.

But unfortunately, this seriousness didn't last long, because the battle ended in the next moment.

Hyuga Neji's right knee was as if struck by an iron bar, the whole body half-kneeling on the ground, before he could even rise when a knee soared up to his face.

Thump! Crack!

Hyuga Kumo lifted his foot and bent Hyuga Neji's right leg, and jumped up almost violently, slamming a vicious knee strike into Hyuga Neji's face.

Amidst the sound of his nose breaking, Hyuga Neji was sent flying, his blood splashing in the air, and he crashed to the ground with a muffled thud, startling the clumps of snow on the eaves that rustled and slid off.

"Uh."

In a daze, he pressed his right hand against the ground, trying to get up, but it was ruthlessly stomped on his wrist.

"What a waste, only knowing how to hurt yourself. I guess, you don't need this hand anymore." Hyuga Kumo's voice was cold, "A you like that, you should just obediently stay in the cage and be a caged bird for people to watch and tease."

"Don't!" Hyuga Neji was shocked, but couldn't pull his arm out at all.

"What's wrong, being a caged bird, is there anything wrong with that?"

Hyuga Kumo exerted a little force, and said coldly, "Who are you showing that pitiful appearance of anger and powerlessness to? You just feel like you've been branded with the 'Caged Bird Seal,' and that your strange destiny cannot be changed, and that you can only be controlled by those high-ranking main family members."

Hyuga Neji's lips moved silently, the chapped lips seeping blood, instantly frozen by the cold air, constantly shaking his head and struggling.

It was immoral to bully the small with the large, to bully a child.

Unfortunately, Hyuga Kumo had no morals, so he wouldn't be bound by morality.

He didn't have time to wait for Hyuga Neji to realize it himself, he had to once again arouse the desire and delusion in the other person's heart.

Thud.

Hyuga Kumo suddenly lifted his foot, Hyuga Neji couldn't stop the force, and the whole person fell into the snow.

"Destiny, is a means for tyrants to bind thoughts, an excuse for fools to comfort themselves."

Hyuga Kumo looked down at the disheveled Hyuga Neji, and said calmly, "If you really want to resist, then trample the arrogance of those guys under your feet, let them also taste what it's like to have their dignity and freedom toyed with, what kind of humiliation and despair that is."

"Instead of wallowing in self-pity, raging without the power to do anything, and venting your inner distress here!"

Huff! Huff! Hyuga Neji struggled to turn over, his cheek pressed against the cold, bone-chilling snow, panting heavily, the white air he exhaled was instantly blown away by the wind, and tears finally burst out uncontrollably.

Partings multiply woes, the leaving less afflicted than those who remain, the greatest fear of death, lies in it brushing past us, leaving us alone.
