Naruto: The Opportunity Plunderer

Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Invitation of Fate

As usual, the classroom was filled with the heavy air of boredom as Iruka-sensei stood at the front of the room, explaining something with passion that no one except a few students was paying attention to. Most of the students had already surrendered to sleep or were battling to keep their eyes open.

Iruka's chalk scratched across the board, but even that couldn't fight the overwhelming dullness. Gojo sat at his usual seat, propping up his head with one hand, his expression as lazy and uninterested as ever.

A loud yawn echoed from the back, and a few students giggled before going back to half-sleep mode. Iruka tried his best, but the class was long lost.

Finally, after what felt like ages, the class ended. The bell rang, and the students stood up sluggishly, some still rubbing their eyes.

Gojo also got up and stretched slightly, getting ready to leave. Just as he stepped toward the exit—

"G-Gojo-kun!"

A soft, familiar voice called from behind. Gojo turned slowly.

There, near the classroom door, stood Hinata. She was twisting her two index fingers together. It was her signature move whenever she was nervous, something Gojo had noticed many times before.

Her face was pink, and her eyes couldn't meet his directly.

Gojo smiled gently.

"Hinata, what is it? You can tell me."

Hinata looked like she was about to shrink into herself but took a deep breath.

"U-Um... as you know... the New Year is coming soon, and in the Hyuga clan, w-we hold a very special ceremony every year... So... I... I was wondering if you could... come to our house... for the ceremony."

She spoke in broken pieces, but the intention was clear.

Gojo blinked and then nodded calmly.

"Alright. I'll be there."

Hinata's eyes widened. Her nervous posture immediately relaxed as happiness bloomed across her face.

"R-Really!?"

Gojo gave a light nod.

"Yes. I'm looking forward to it."

Hinata beamed. Her eyes sparkled, and her whole demeanor transformed. She looked like a happy kitten that had just been given her favorite treat. With a quick and joyful bow, she ran off toward her home.

Gojo turned around, only to be met by three pairs of glaring eyes.

Ino.

Sakura.

Karin.

All three stood like a trio of angry queens, their arms crossed and their expressions cold.

Gojo sighed deeply.

"Time to activate scumbag mode..."

First, he approached Ino.

"Ino, didn't I promise to take you to that dessert shop? The one near the flower district? Let's do it this weekend."

Ino's eyes narrowed but softened slightly.

"You better not forget, Gojo."

Then he moved to Sakura.

"Sakura, remember that training session you asked about? I found a perfect spot for it. We can go together."

Sakura huffed but gave a slight smile.

"Fine. But only because I want to train."

Lastly, he looked at Karin, who was still holding his sleeve.

"Karin, let's walk home together, as always."

Karin's scowl turned into a happy smile in an instant.

"Of course!"

The other two gave him lingering looks before leaving with reluctant smiles.

Gojo wiped imaginary sweat from his forehead and sighed.

"Being charming is a lot of work."

With Karin now happily clinging to his arm, Gojo walked out of the academy toward home.

From the rooftop of the academy building, Shizuka watched them. Her gaze was cold and distant. Her hands were clenched.

She let out a deep sigh.

"Gojo... is mine."

She remembered clearly.

At first, she had approached him only because of a mission. She had come to observe and complete her task.

But somewhere along the way, her reason changed.

When she found out that Gojo had helped resolve the Uchiha clan issue, when she discovered that he had saved her parents—even though they had insulted him in the past—she was shaken. No one had ever done something like that for her.

Not even the people in her own clan.

She was convinced that Gojo had done it all for her. Her thoughts now revolved only around him.

She didn't even realize that what she was feeling wasn't simple admiration anymore. It wasn't just affection.

It was turning into something stronger. More dangerous.

An obsession.

A deep possessiveness that only grew every time she saw another girl near him.

"I will have everything. His first love, first kiss, everything. No one else. Only me."

Hinata returned to her room with a bright, glowing face. Her excitement was written all over her features. She gently closed the door behind her, walked to her wardrobe, and opened it with energy and hope.

"I need to find something new. Something that makes me look special. Gojo-kun is coming... I want to look my best in front of him."

She carefully ran her hands over her neatly arranged kimonos but shook her head.

"None of these feel right. I'll order a custom kimono like Father said. Something perfect... maybe lavender or snow white. Something soft and graceful."

She sat down on her futon and opened her small design catalog, flipping through the patterns. Her cheeks were still red, and her lips curled into a shy smile.

"He agreed to come... He really did."

As she looked through the styles, she imagined how the New Year ceremony would go. In her mind, Gojo stood beside her, smiling gently, while she wore a beautiful kimono and held a light lantern.

Her heart thumped at the thought.

Elsewhere, in a different corner of the village, Shizuka sat alone on a roof. Her eyes stared blankly at the sky.

The wind blew against her hair, but she didn't react.

Her fingers slowly curled into fists.

"Gojo helped me. He saved my family. He protected my clan. Even though we insulted him. Even though we didn't trust him."

Her voice was low, almost like a whisper.

"Why would he do all that? Just because of me? Does he like me? Was it for me?"

Her thoughts were clouded.

"No... I can't let others have him. I must have him. His first smile, his first kiss, his first everything..."

Shizuka didn't notice how her hands trembled slightly.

"He belongs to me. That's why I came. That's why I stayed."

Her feelings had grown past affection. What she now carried inside her heart was possessive. An unyielding desire to claim Gojo.

"Gojo... I will not lose you to anyone."

Meanwhile, Gojo was walking back toward home with Karin hugging his arm as usual. Her grip was tight, and her face was slightly red, but she wore a proud expression.

Karin looked at Gojo and smiled.

"You know... you're really unfair."

Gojo glanced at her with his usual lazy smile.

"Unfair how?"

"You know exactly what to say to make every girl happy, but you never let anyone truly win."

Gojo chuckled softly.

"That's because I haven't decided who wins yet."

Karin sighed but tightened her hold.

"Well, I'm not planning to lose either."

Gojo looked ahead.

"I wonder how long I can keep this up. But if I'm going to be a harem king one day, I need to be capable of managing it."

In his mind, Gojo laughed.

"Hmph. All those time travelers, transmigrators from the fanfictions I read in my past life... they all came to this world and chose to chase only power, ignoring love and women. What kind of disgrace is that? They should've built connections, made memories... not lived like emotionless demons. Bastards. Every one of them made the name of all men look bad. I'll show them how to truly live."

He looked up at the sky, eyes gleaming.

"Power, women, respect. I'll have it all."

Back at the Hyuga compound, Hiashi sat quietly in his private chamber.

He had finished his evening tea and was now in deep thought.

"Gojo... That boy has the strength, the background, and the presence to protect Hinata. If she is by his side, no one can put the Caged Bird Seal on her. Not even the clan elders."

He looked at an old scroll, one that outlined the clan hierarchy and traditions.

"I will make Hanabi the next clan head. She is already growing sharp and strong. She will understand."

He looked toward the moon, his hands calmly resting on his knees.

"But Hinata... I won't let her be hurt."

He recalled the expression she made earlier. That nervous, panicked face.

"She thinks I'm a villain... but maybe I deserve that image. I was harsh."

He breathed deeply and closed his eyes for a moment.

"Maybe... Gojo is what she needs."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"With someone like him... she'll be safe. She'll be cherished."

He stood slowly and walked to the window.

The moonlight reflected in his eyes as he whispered.

"Time is moving too fast... Wasn't she just a small girl yesterday? Hiding behind her mother? And now she's ready to walk beside someone..."

The wind passed through the open window, brushing lightly against the curtains.

Hiashi remained still, lost in the silence of the night.

And so, another night passed.

The Hyuga household, the village, the hearts of those involved—everything moved quietly, steadily, unknowingly closer to a new beginning.

The New Year approached.

And with it, moments that would change everything.
