Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Konan: I’ll Go with You!

Konan stared at Mirai, her expression serious as she asked, "Mirai, are you involved in this?"

Mirai shook his head. "Don't overthink it. If I wanted to kill you, I wouldn't bother with these petty schemes."

Konan let out a sigh of relief.

Though his words weren't exactly comforting, they made sense.

Given the overwhelming power he'd just displayed, there was no need for him to waste time pretending.

Besides…

He had already warned them about Hanzo of the Salamander.

"So, what's it going to be?" Mirai asked, his gaze fixed on Konan. "Will you come with me?"

Konan hesitated, glancing toward Nagato.

Nagato spoke solemnly. "I'm grateful you saved us, but I must carry on Yahiko's legacy."

"Yahiko's dream will live on through me."

Mirai raised an eyebrow. "Even now, you still believe a world where people truly understand each other is possible?"

Nagato nodded firmly. "I do. But…" His tone darkened. "Mutual understanding requires shared pain."

"I'll make everyone in the shinobi world experience the suffering of war. Only then will they understand those who have been tormented by it."

"Especially the shinobi of the great nations. When they personally taste the helplessness of war, they'll finally set aside their arrogance."

"I will make the entire world feel pain!"

Hearing Nagato's speech, Mirai couldn't help but feel like he was witnessing history in the making.

Konan, on the other hand, looked deeply troubled.

To her, Nagato had always been a gentle soul. But now, his words sent a chill down her spine.

"Nagato," Konan began, trying to reason with him. "Mirai told me his plan. He wants to unify the shinobi world. If he succeeds, there won't be any more wars."

"With his strength and your Rinnegan, we can bring peace to the shinobi world!"

Nagato shook his head slightly. "Konan, Yahiko said I'm the savior."

Faced with his stubbornness, Konan found herself at a loss for words.

After a moment of silence, she turned to Mirai. "I'll go with you!"

Nagato was visibly surprised. "Konan, why would you leave with a shinobi from Konoha? Yahiko died because of them!"

Ignoring Nagato, Konan spoke to Mirai in a calm but firm tone.

"I don't know why you want me to follow you, but if you agree to two conditions, I'll come with you."

Mirai's expression remained neutral. "Let's hear them."

Konan took a moment to organize her thoughts before speaking.

"First, you must help me kill Shimura Danzo and avenge Yahiko."

Mirai nodded without hesitation. "No problem."

He had already planned to eliminate Danzo, so this aligned perfectly with his goals.

Seeing his agreement, Konan continued, "Second, if you and Nagato ever clash in the future, and you win, promise me you'll spare his life."

Mirai immediately understood her intentions.

Nagato's goal of making the world feel pain was fundamentally at odds with his vision. It was inevitable they'd clash someday.

Konan, having witnessed his power, was clearly trying to ensure Nagato had a way out.

Mirai nodded again. "I promise."

Relieved, Konan turned to Nagato and urged him, "Be careful and live well, no matter what."

Nagato seemed to grasp her resolve and reluctantly nodded. "I will."

He then looked at Mirai. "When you fall to me, I'll spare your life as well."

With that, he hoisted Yahiko's body onto his back and began walking toward Amegakure.

As his figure disappeared into the distance, Mirai turned to Konan. "Let's go."

With a wave of his hand, golden sand rose beneath their feet, carrying them toward Konohagakure.

On the way, Konan couldn't suppress the question lingering in her mind. "Mirai, can I ask you something?"

Mirai, lounging atop the sand with a casual air, replied, "Go ahead."

"Why did you save me? And why do you want me to follow you?"

She was just a small-time kunoichi from the Land of Rain, likely to become a wanted criminal after today.

Why would someone as powerful as him go out of his way for her, even agreeing to her seemingly unreasonable demands?

Mirai glanced at her, his tone indifferent. "It's simple. The moment I saw you, I decided you'd be my woman."

"Huh?!"

Konan's eyes widened in shock. She had considered countless possibilities, but this was not one of them.

He wanted her to be his woman?

What kind of reason was that?

"Believe it or not, that's the truth," Mirai said matter-of-factly. "So don't be too surprised when I do something… indecent."

His bluntness left Konan's face flushed.

Mirai's personality was nothing like she had imagined.

If she hadn't seen his immense strength firsthand, she would have dismissed him as an arrogant playboy.

The skies gradually cleared, sunlight piercing through the clouds.

As Konan glanced back at the rain-soaked Land of Rain, a mixture of sadness and uncertainty filled her heart.

From today onward, her life would never be the same.

Sensing her melancholy, Mirai decided to break the somber mood.

After a moment's thought, he called out, "Konan…"

"Hmm?"

"Check your chest."

"Get lost!"

Arriving in Konohagakure, Konan found herself under the curious gazes of Uchiha Mikoto and Yakumo Kurama.

After brief introductions, the two women quickly connected with Konan over her tragic past.

Mikoto, in particular, seemed deeply moved, her eyes red with sympathy.

In no time, the three women were getting along like old friends.

Mirai, unsurprised by this development, went straight to the courtyard to train.

Konan glanced at him, her expression unreadable.

Now, more than ever, she believed what he'd said on the journey back.

This man… was a total scoundrel.
