Naruto: Red Lightning

Chapter 10: Chapter 10

The head jonin's voice cut through the murmurs of the crowd. "Last round. No rules, except the ones that keep you alive. Last fighter standing wins." He smirked, glancing at the battered contestants.

A hush fell over the arena. The remaining fighters (five of us) circled around, sizing each other up. Some were bruised, others barely winded, but all wore the same calculating glare. (No alliances. No mercy.)

Then, the signal.

A kunai flew toward me, a kid's desperate opener, and chaos erupted. I sidestepped and plucked the kunai out of the air, placing it into my pouch. Kunai were expensive, after all. Two fighters lunged at each other, fists flying. Another ducked low, sweeping the legs of the closest target, the only girl in the program: red hair, brown eyes, and dark skin. She flipped backward, dodging the attack. I watched her feint to the left, then slam an elbow into the overeager kid's ribs.

No one was attacking me; I think they were too afraid of me. So I jumped onto a nearby tree and waited for one of the pairs to finish their battle. After some time passed, the kids that had faced off initially were at the ends of their fight. One of them had pinned the other to the ground and started repeatedly punching him. By the tenth punch, the downed kid had been knocked out.

The attacker then stood up, but before he could do anything else, I appeared in front of him, and with an uppercut, I sent him flying back. I then appeared behind him, kicking him into the air. I let him fly for a couple of meters and then jumped, following behind him. When I caught up to him, I flipped, using the momentum to kick him into the ground. A loud boom and a dust cloud later, he was found knocked out in his own crater. This impact would have killed any human without chakra, but unlocking your chakra makes you way more durable.

The girl took the opportunity while her opponent was distracted by the explosion and knocked him over the head with a kunai, knocking him out. She then turned to me. "Now it's you and me. I ain't winning, so call it a draw." She used the puppy-dog eyes jutsu, trying to make me comply. "Sorry, but I can't lose." I took a step forward and appeared in front of her. She instinctively tried to dodge, but it was too late. With a single punch to the gut, she folded over, falling to her knees. All that was then needed was a knee across the face to knock her out.

A moment later, a loud voice was heard: "The winner of the second official program tournament is Roan. Thank you for your participation. If you feel anything wrong with your body, go get checked by the medic." As the others started making their way out of the training ground and back to the barracks, I heard my name being called.

"Roan, come over here." I did as the head jonin instructed me and walked over to him. "Kid, do you know what your reward for winning the tournament is?" "No, what is it?" He grinned maliciously, and I shivered. "Five more kg in each leg. Now go to training ground 2,Hirohito is waiting for you." "Yes, sensei." And with that, I disappeared, fearing another weight increase.
