Naruto: Reborn With An AI Chip

Chapter 34: The Generous Third Hokage

Although Hiruzen had generously asked Renjiro if there was anything he needed, Renjiro knew his limits—and the true value of the Taijutsu technique he'd created.

Soru was impressive, yes, but it was realistically a high-level B-rank technique. He couldn't justify asking for anything beyond its worth.

In truth, when Hiruzen posed the question, a surge of greed had nearly taken hold. For a moment, Renjiro was tempted to blurt out a request for an S-rank technique—something like the legendary Flying Raijin Jutsu.

But he quickly smothered that urge. As enticing as it was, such a request would've been reckless. Flying Raijin might also be a movement-type Jutsu, but it operated on a completely different level—so far beyond him that it might as well have been a myth.

Even if Hiruzen handed him an S-rank Jutsu, what could he realistically do with it?

He could barely manage Lightning Ball, a basic C-rank Jutsu, more than three times before his chakra reserves ran dry. Giving him something in the A- or S-rank range wouldn't make him capable of using it.

That single moment, though—Hiruzen's offer—had cracked open the door to ambition. It reminded Renjiro just how far he still had to go.

Even if someone gave him a Jutsu that aligned perfectly with his chakra nature—say, Chidori, a powerful Lightning Release technique—it wouldn't change the facts.

He lacked the chakra capacity to use it effectively. More importantly, he didn't yet possess the foundational knowledge to understand, let alone master, such an advanced technique.

---

Without a firm grasp of chakra control and transformation, mastering advanced Jutsu was impossible.

Renjiro had learned that the hard way. When he first attempted Lightning Ball Jutsu, he failed repeatedly. It wasn't until Zeri taught him the basic principles behind chakra manipulation that he began making progress.

Even then, the lesson was clear: while fundamentals might be shared across all Ninjutsu, advanced Jutsu required a much more refined and solid foundation.

Even now, Renjiro still struggled with basic chakra shape transformation. And a technique like Chidori? That demanded not only perfect Shape Transformation, but also advanced Nature Transformation—the ability to mold chakra into its elemental form with stability and precision.

How could he even begin to grasp that kind of complexity when he was still learning the ABCs of chakra manipulation?

That was the true core of being a shinobi, without a strong foundation, even a mountain of forbidden scrolls filled with Jutsu would be worthless—nothing more than ink on paper.

So instead of asking for flashy techniques he wasn't ready for, Renjiro made a far wiser decision. He requested foundational knowledge—what he urgently needed to grow.

Konoha possessed a unique set of archives, a legacy of its greatest minds. These secret vaults—many compiled by the Second Hokage himself—contained decades of research, theory, and insight into the shinobi arts.

The archive was divided into three categories: Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu. The Ninjutsu records were further split by elemental chakra nature: Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, and Water.

From this archive, Renjiro selected four scrolls. None contained offensive or defensive jutsu. Instead, each focused on core theory and foundational principles:

Lightning Release: Chakra Shape Transformation

Lightning Release: Nature Transformation

Cellular Activation via Lightning Chakra

Basic Theory of Genjutsu

He chose the first two because mastering powerful Lightning Release jutsu required control over both chakra nature and shape.

Nature transformation changes ordinary chakra into an element—in this case, lightning. It grants the chakra speed, cutting power, and the ability to paralyze or shock.

Shape transformation controls the chakra's form and motion—shaping it into a ball, blade, wave, or thrust.

For example, Chidori's destructive power comes from lightning nature, but its lethal piercing comes from sharp, controlled shape. Without both, the technique wouldn't function.

Since Renjiro was still learning shape transformation and had limited chakra, a technique like Chidori was far beyond his ability. That's why he focused on building a stronger foundation, not rushing to acquire flashy Jutsu.

The third scroll intrigued him for another reason: Lightning chakra has a unique property—it can stimulate the body at a cellular level.

When applied with precision, it boosts neural transmission and muscle response, leading to faster reactions, stronger strikes, and heightened awareness—effects famously seen in the Raikage's Lightning Armor.

Renjiro was confident this would pair well with the Body Stimulation Technique that Arkain was helping him develop. The scroll could offer biological insights that would elevate their project to the next level.

Finally, he selected a scroll on Genjutsu fundamentals—not because he planned to master it immediately, but because understanding Genjutsu was crucial to becoming a complete shinobi. And with Arkain's assistance, he could finally take the first step.

Renjiro had no doubt: this was the right path.

"That should be interesting…" He muttered with a mischievous grin, already imagining Meri and Maemon's reactions when they found out he was their new squad captain.

After leaving the Hokage's building, Renjiro had originally planned to inform his teammates to meet at Training Field 3 by 2:00 p.m., just as instructed. That was where their new squad member would be joining them.

But before heading out, he made a detour home.

The moment he stepped inside, he tossed the standard Chunin uniform aside without a second thought. His attention went straight to the scrolls.

He unrolled them on the floor and immediately began scanning their contents.

"Time to get to work, Arkain." Renjiro said with excitement brimming in his voice.

Within five minutes, all four scrolls were fully processed—not by Renjiro, but by Arkain.

Using Renjiro's vision, the system had scanned and archived every word with perfect accuracy.

"Arkain." Renjiro called inwardly, inhaling deeply.

"Create a new research task under the 'Ninjutsu' directory: Lightning Release Chakra Shape and Nature Transformation."

[Beep! Mission Established! New Data Acquired! Connecting to Database… Mission Initialized... Simulation Begun!]

"Next—upload the scroll on Cellular Activation into the 'Body Stimulation' project. Prioritize accelerated processing."

[Beep! Mission Updated… Data Integration Initialized! Simulation Recalibrated… Execution Resumed.]

"And next." Renjiro continued: "Establish a long-term, permanent mission: Genjutsu Training. Grant full access to all relevant databases. Enable real-time feedback, log every training session, and activate guidance prompts at all times. Also, initiate a simulation framework using my mental and physical profile to model optimal development."

[Beep! Long-term Mission Established! Parameters Set Per Instruction… Data Sync Initiated… Simulation Engine Activated… Personalized Virtual Testbed Deployed.]

Arkain's mechanical voice echoed each confirmation as it executed the commands with flawless precision.

Renjiro double-checked every detail, then finally exhaled: "Now… all that's left is to wait for the results."

Still with some time before the meeting, he lay on his bed, scroll in hand, and began reading again. Despite Arkain's far superior data processing, Renjiro wanted to engage with the knowledge himself—to experience it, to connect with it.

The developers of Arkain—back in the distant future of his original world—had always emphasized: Arkain was meant to assist, not replace. And Renjiro embraced that philosophy fully.

Every technique Arkain helped him develop started with his own ideas. Whether inspired by anime, manga, or his own theories, he was always the one supplying the blueprint.

Take Observation Haki, for example. The concept came from One Piece—he had imagined it, then fed it to Arkain, who adapted it through the lens of the shinobi world's chakra logic.

Arkain couldn't create something from nothing. It could only build when directed. And Renjiro was the architect.

As he read, Renjiro didn't just skim the words. He engaged with Arkain directly—discussing theories, questioning assumptions, analyzing everything from multiple perspectives.

To him, studying was no longer a chore—it was a dialogue.

And it made the process not only effective, but deeply enjoyable.

---

Time slipped by unnoticed.

[Beep! You have an appointment to meet your teammates at 2:00 p.m.—it's already 2:30 p.m.!]

Arkain's voice blared in his mind, jolting Renjiro awake from a peaceful dream.

"Crap—I'm late!"

He shot upright, scrambling to throw on his new uniform. As he caught his reflection in the mirror, a sharp-eyed young man with sleek bangs stared back.

"Looking good." Renjiro muttered with a smirk.

Then he glanced down at the uniform and grimaced: "Ugly as hell… First thing I'm doing when I make Jōnin is designing my own."

Realizing the time, he panicked again: "Crap! I'm really out of time!"

Grabbing his ninja blade, he didn't even bother with the door. He launched himself straight out the window.
