Chapter 220: Chapter 220: Rescue
Naruto had been reincarnated, and with the knowledge from his previous life, he often passed the time by deploying Shadow Clones across the battlefield. Each clone marked locations with the Flying Thunder God Technique—strategic war zones he remembered vividly from the Fourth Great Ninja War.
Now, a dozen newly spawned Shadow Clones were teleporting incessantly using the Flying Thunder God. Each clone was capable of entering Sage Mode and activating Sage Sensing to scan a wide radius, searching for signs of Obito's presence.
Suddenly, one of the clones sensed a very familiar chakra. Naruto knew he had to respond immediately—not just to help, but to make his mark on the battlefield.
This chakra signature served as a vital signal that could be relayed to Allied Shinobi Forces headquarters, specifically the Fifth Battalion. It could also be intercepted by Obito and Kabuto, adding further tension to the warfront.
Meanwhile, Sai led a surprise assault team. Using his Super Beast Imitating Drawing technique, he conjured four large birds that soared through the skies in pursuit of the enemy.
Below, Momochi Zabuza, Haku, Gari the Explosion-Style user, and Pakura of the Scorch Style dashed across the terrain at high speed.
Sai weaved a hand seal. "Super Beast Imitating Drawing, go!"
Three ink birds, each carrying multiple Explosive Tags, dove toward the ground.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The terrain trembled with each blast.
Sai scanned the battlefield and shouted, "Keep up the pressure! George, light the signal smoke!"
George responded, "On it!"
Omoi chewed on his lollipop, squinting at the chaos below.
Nearby, Kakashi's team noticed the smoke signal.
"That's the signal from the surprise attack squad. Everyone, mobilize!"
Guy nodded with enthusiasm. "Yosh! Lee, it's time to show your youth!"
"Yes, Sensei!" Lee shouted with fiery resolve.
Sakura, watching the two, sighed and covered her face in mild exasperation.
In the sky, the ink birds continued their relentless barrage with Explosive Tags.
Gari gritted his teeth. "As much as I'd prefer not to fight, being bombarded like this... as a wielder of Explosion Release, I can't just sit back!"
Zabuza scoffed. "For once, I agree."
Just then, another ink bird appeared out of thin air and dropped an explosive payload directly above them.
"Nani?!" Zabuza exclaimed.
Haku's eyes widened as he rushed forward. "Secret Technique: Crystal Ice Shield!"
An elegant ice-crystal barrier formed in front of Zabuza.
Boom!
The explosion shattered the shield instantly.
"Are you okay, Zabuza-sama?!" Haku cried, spreading his arms to shield his master.
Zabuza crouched behind Haku and grunted, "Haku, you're wasting that jutsu. We're reanimated corpses. Even if we're blown apart, we'll regenerate. Look—he's demonstrating it well."
He nodded toward Gari, who was in the middle of reassembling his blown-up body.
Zabuza glanced upward. Four more birds circled above—one of them releasing smoke.
"Thanks for catching that, Haku."
Haku nodded, eyes sharp. "I remember—birds of prey fly in pairs when hunting during the winter, especially when feeding their young. But this time, they're not alone. And among the clouds… the smoke signal. The enemy must be there! Leave it to me!"
Without hesitation, Haku began weaving hand signs.
Up above, Sai, George, and Omoi suddenly felt a drop in temperature. Snow began to fall.
Sai extended his hand, puzzled. "Is this... snow?"
Omoi muttered, "Feels like someone left the air conditioning on full blast..."
Then came a sharp, cracking sound—the unmistakable snap of freezing air.
Sai turned quickly and gasped.
A reflective, mirror-like surface had formed behind them—and from within, a silhouette emerged.
"Secret Technique: Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals!"
Sai's eyes widened. "No—!"
Whoosh!
Haku shot out three ice senbon from within the mirror, striking the bird they rode. The ink construct exploded into black droplets.
"Ahhhhh!"
The trio plummeted, shielding their heads as they crashed through the tree canopy. Snapping branches cushioned their fall before they rolled forward and landed on their feet.
"Ow..." Omoi groaned, clutching his lower back.
Sai stood and quickly assessed the scene. Four shinobi stood in front of them. One of them—Haku—was high above within the ice mirror.
Pakura tilted her head. "What's going on? These are just kids."
Gari flexed his freshly regenerated arm. "Immortal bodies... means mutual destruction, huh?"
George, having landed last, stared at the four enemies. He spoke with a trembling voice.
"Sai... these guys... they're all powerful kekkei genkai users. We might be outmatched!"
Zabuza growled. "Hey, brat—I don't have a kekkei genkai, but you got one thing right. You can't handle me."
Haku added, "We have no personal grudge against you. But this battle is out of our control."
Without another word, Haku pulled a massive silver senbon into his grip. Zabuza raised his kunai. All four enemies charged!
George broke into a sweat. "Sai, Omoi—get ready!"
Omoi drew his blade. "Tch... I'm ready."
Sai quickly unrolled his scroll and summoned several ink tigers using Super Beast Imitating Drawing. The beasts charged forward, biting at the incoming enemies before darting back.
Then—clang! Four kunai, each marked with Flying Thunder God seals, embedded themselves in the ground before the defenders.
Sai, George, and Omoi froze.
A voice rang out: "Spiral Flash Super Round Dance Howl Style Three!"
In a blur of golden light, Zabuza, Haku, Gari, and Pakura were struck hard. Massive holes opened in their chests.
Zabuza's eyes widened in disbelief. "What... is this?!"
If he were still alive, he would've been killed instantly.
Sai, Omoi, and George stared ahead in stunned silence as the dust settled.
The wind caught a white cloak, making it billow before their eyes. Words were embroidered on the back.
The man smiled, tilting his head. "Am I late?"
Sai blinked. "N-No... you're just in time."
Even someone as emotionally numb as Sai couldn't help but feel moved. The man before them exuded overwhelming presence.
Omoi stared, dumbfounded. "This guy... he's flashier than the Raikage!"
George gasped, his eyes wide with awe. "F-Fourth Hokage... It's the Fourth Hokage!!"
Unable to contain his excitement, George stood up straight, his sore back forgotten.
The Fourth Hokage—Namikaze Minato—was a living legend.
Unlike the distant memories of the First or Second Hokage, the Fourth was a hero of the recent past—a real icon to Konoha's younger generation.
Tears welled up in George's eyes.
Just then, reinforcements arrived.
Kakashi's team burst onto the scene.
Kakashi and Guy flickered forward. Kakashi's visible eye widened.
"Sensei... Sensei?!"
