Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Why Is It Always Space-Time Ninjutsu?!
Naruto watched as Uchiha Xiao Yan squared off against Chūnin Sasuke. Without hesitation, he casually pulled out a chair, some snacks, and settled in to spectate.
He was curious—could this three-tomoe Uchiha actually best the "budget Kakashi," who looked like he was perpetually suffering from chakra exhaustion? Honestly, Naruto doubted it. He even wondered if, in the future, Itachi would find it impossible to hold back against this kid.
"Dad... why are you just sitting there?!" Boruto exclaimed, glaring at his father, who was clearly not planning to intervene. "Aren't you going to stop them? They're about to fight! I'm here with Sasuke-sensei to protect you, remember?!"
Boruto was visibly agitated, especially since Urashiki Ōtsutsuki could be lurking nearby, ready to strike. Meanwhile, his dad was comfortably munching on snacks and treating the unfolding chaos as entertainment. It was infuriating.
"I'm not blind," Naruto said dismissively, completely ignoring his son's protests.
Boruto stomped his foot in frustration. "This is ridiculous!"
Naruto, entirely unbothered by his son's outrage, took another sip of bubble tea. When Boruto attempted to storm toward the fight, Naruto casually extended a foot, tripping him. Boruto landed face-first on the ground with a loud thud.
"Sit down and watch," Naruto warned, tossing a bag of snacks toward Boruto. "If you cause more trouble, I'll really let you have it."
Boruto hesitated, recalling the scene at the barbecue restaurant earlier when Naruto had casually pummeled someone. A shiver ran down his spine. Despite how odd his dad had become, Boruto was pretty sure this man wouldn't hesitate to smack him.
Naruto chuckled inwardly. Protect me? This kid and a chakra-depleted Sasuke combined couldn't hold their own against Urashiki if he showed up right now.
Frankly, Urashiki's performance in Boruto was laughable, but Naruto figured that was due to narrative convenience. After all, Urashiki was a member of the Ōtsutsuki Clan, a race that wielded absurd power, including space-time ninjutsu and even temporal reversal. On paper, he should've been unstoppable. Yet, somehow, he had been defeated in what essentially felt like a playground scuffle. The sheer number of plot holes made Naruto want to rant endlessly.
Still, Naruto wasn't worried. Urashiki's time-reversal ability had a critical flaw: it only rewound external time, meaning his personal timeline advanced faster than everyone else's. If it came to it, Naruto was confident he could outlast him, not to mention the array of lethal poisons he had stored in his system inventory.
If that fish-loving Ōtsutsuki really shows up, Naruto thought, I'll stand up and deal with him myself. No big deal.
Meanwhile, Sasuke squinted, wiping the residue from his face. Thankfully, his long hair had shielded him from most of the debris. Otherwise, he feared for his vision.
"You don't understand," Sasuke said solemnly, his voice low and warning. "Knowing too much will only bring you trouble."
Uchiha Xiao Yan, however, wasn't in the mood for advice. He hoisted the Black Heavy Ruler and swung it mercilessly toward Sasuke. If this guy doesn't want to talk, I'll beat the answers out of him.
Clang—
Sasuke reacted swiftly, drawing his Kusanagi Blade to block the strike. Sparks flew as the two weapons clashed, emitting a nerve-grating screech. The sheer force transmitted through the blade made Sasuke's thoughts race.
What's wrong with this world's version of me? Sasuke wondered, gritting his teeth. He's only thirteen… How is he this strong?!
"Your eyes…" Xiao Yan remarked, narrowing his gaze. "They're quite unusual."
The blue orbs with six tomoe spinning within caught his attention. But instead of continuing the fight, Sasuke tried to de-escalate. "We mean no harm. I don't want to fight you."
Truthfully, Sasuke was growing irritated. If not for Urashiki draining his chakra earlier, he'd have already activated his Susanoo to teach this arrogant brat a lesson. But with the limited chakra he had left, he couldn't afford to waste energy here.
"You think you can win against me? With those fancy eyes of yours? Ridiculous!" Xiao Yan sneered, his confidence bolstered by his striking resemblance to Sasuke.
Sasuke winced inwardly at the sight. Xiao Yan's smug expression dredged up memories of his own cocky, foolish younger self.
Suddenly, flames surged toward him. Lost in thought for a moment too long, Sasuke was sent flying by the heatwave.
"Pathetic," Xiao Yan muttered, dismissively flicking the Black Heavy Ruler.
Boruto's jaw nearly hit the ground as he watched Xiao Yan's fiery onslaught. "Whoa… Sasuke-sensei was this strong when he was a teenager?!"
Despite the differences between this younger Sasuke and the one he knew, Boruto couldn't help but admire Xiao Yan's power. In fact, he even thought this version of Sasuke seemed cooler.
Sasuke staggered to his feet, pulling down his tattered cloak. "Enough! This brat needs to be taught a lesson."
Calculating his remaining chakra reserves, Sasuke decided to go all out. He prepared to activate his Susanoo—only to realize something horrifying. Wait… where's my chakra?!
For a brief second, Sasuke was dumbfounded. His chakra had vanished mid-battle, a phenomenon he'd only encountered once before when facing Samehada.
"That sword…" Sasuke muttered, staring at the Black Heavy Ruler. "It absorbs chakra?"
But after a closer look, he shook his head. No, it's different from Samehada. What's going on here?
Sasuke retrieved a sealing scroll from his cloak, his mind racing. Xiao Yan smirked at the action, mistaking it for a challenge.
"Foolish," Xiao Yan sneered, quickly stowing away his Black Heavy Ruler and tossing ten sealing scrolls into the air. Forming a series of hand seals, he unleashed a storm of shuriken and kunai.
Sasuke barely had time to react. He had only launched a few shuriken, yet suddenly found himself facing thousands of projectiles, many laced with explosive tags.
"Seriously?!" Sasuke broke into a cold sweat, feeling the looming threat of death.
In a desperate move, he activated Amenotejikara, swapping his position with Xiao Yan's.
Xiao Yan blinked, suddenly finding himself in the path of his own onslaught. "What the—?! Damn it! Space-time ninjutsu again?!"
Grimacing, he braced himself, holding up the Black Heavy Ruler to shield his face. Charging forward, he ignored the incoming barrage, determined to close the gap with Sasuke.
For Xiao Yan, this battle was far from over.
