NARUTO: Ninja World Scientific Revolution

Chapter 5: CHAPTER 5 - The Guard of the Main House

Since the practical class with Class A, Ichiro Ishii has kept a gloomy face during his lessons. The students in Class B knew they had lost embarrassingly, so they became more serious in the following classes. From this perspective, Ichiro Ishii's efforts hadn't been in vain.

Hyuga Mirai, the top performer, had lost to Kiyo Hyuga in the end, but his swift taijutsu and Gentle Fist techniques were impressive enough to place him among the top even in Class A. As for the defeat to Kiyo Hyuga, Ichiro Ishii believed it was because Kiyo, being from the main branch, had a much faster progression in the Gentle Fist training than Mirai, to the point that he couldn't even see through her feint.

The students' efforts to study seriously meant Ichiro Ishii would receive less criticism. If, a few years from now, all the students in Class B passed their Genin exams, he would have earned a good achievement as well.

Mirai, however, didn't need anyone to push him. He was always the most diligent student in the Ninja Academy. Regardless of the time, if he was at school, he was always reading.

Books like *Ninja Codes and Trap Layouts*, *Ninja World Geography*, and *Geography of the Five Great Nations and the Differences Between Their Ninjas* were all subjects he studied during breaks, learning theories that would be taught in later years. Once he had completed all the theoretical knowledge taught in the academy, Mirai planned to learn basic medical knowledge.

As for taijutsu and ninjutsu training, Mirai typically trained alone after school. He rarely practiced Gentle Fist in the Hyuga Clan compound, as he didn't want to reveal the extent of his mastery. Instead, he trained in more remote forests around the village. When it came to the unified training sessions for children in the clan, Mirai's skill level was carefully controlled so that he never outshone Kiyo, the young lady from the main house.

At home, Mirai focused on chakra control and learning the Three Body Jutsu. Medical ninjutsu required highly refined chakra control, and if he couldn't achieve this, he wouldn't even be able to enter the basics.

The reason Tsunade, one of the Sannin, had so much difficulty promoting medical ninjutsu in the village was that it demanded extraordinary talent in chakra control. Without it, one could only learn basic battlefield first aid techniques.

"It's time to learn the basics of the Three Body Jutsu."

Mirai opened a scroll containing detailed notes from his late father. Following these instructions, it would be relatively easy to learn, considering his father had been a Jonin. After reading the scroll, Mirai began his practice with the Three Body Jutsu.

He had many questions about the technique; for example, could the Transformation Jutsu change body size by increasing chakra, and was the Substitution Jutsu related to space, explaining how it allowed for an instant swap between a body and a wooden stump? However, these questions felt distant to Mirai for now. Once he was stable in the ninja world, he could gradually explore them.

For now, he needed to improve his strength quickly.

"Ha~!"

After practicing the Three Body Jutsu for hours, Mirai sat on the ground, breathing slightly heavier. "I've barely learned the basics of the Three Body Jutsu. The next step is to keep practicing until forming the seals and chakra control becomes instinctive, while also learning to use the technique efficiently."

In battles between Chunin and Genin, the Three Body Jutsu could be a killing move. Even Jonin could be deceived if they weren't careful.

Mirai had already learned the technique, now it was all about constant practice.

"Time to eat."

After exhausting his chakra, Mirai's appetite would always surge. He had planned to treat himself to some grilled meat, but as he reached the door, he remembered that doing so would blow his monthly budget. Besides food, he also needed to buy more training tools.

"Well, boiled chicken with soy sauce works just fine," he reassured himself, heading toward the kitchen to prepare a simple meal before continuing his chakra control training.

For wall-climbing practice, Mirai always trained indoors. In the beginning, he didn't use too much chakra, as he didn't want to damage the walls. He practiced carefully, gradually increasing his chakra use while trying to avoid breaking anything.

Thus, Mirai's daily training routine consisted of three hours of Gentle Fist practice in a remote forest after school, a simple dinner at home, and then training chakra control and studying medical knowledge.

Shuriken throwing wasn't a major focus for him; unlike the Uchiha Clan, who were known for their mastery of throwing weapons, Mirai only needed to score full marks in the academy's shuriken assessment.

"Hyuga Mirai!"

One day, as Mirai was preparing to train in the back mountain forest, he was suddenly called by the captain of the branch family's guard.

"Zosuke-sama, is there something wrong?" Mirai quickly greeted. The clan's ancient rules were strict, even among the branch family members, and the hierarchy was well-established.

Zosuke Hyuga walked over and looked at Mirai with his Byakugan, filled with suspicion. "Lately, you've been running off to remote places. What are you doing?"

"I've been training Gentle Fist and shuriken throwing, Zosuke-sama. Sometimes, when I get tired, I rest outside," Mirai explained, showing the food and training tools he always carried with him.

"Why not train in the clan's designated training grounds?"

"Well..." Mirai hesitated slightly and continued, "In addition to practicing Gentle Fist, I also fish by the river, since I have a big appetite and sometimes can't fill myself up."

This wasn't a lie. It was something Mirai had planned ahead of time. Due to his physical nature, he would feel especially hungry after a tiring day of training, and his appetite would grow bigger. The good news was, the more he ate, the quicker his energy recovered. It was a good thing for his intense training, though it did cost a bit.

While it hadn't fully spread yet, every time Mirai came back with supplies, it would surprise the other clan members.

"Hmm." Zosuke Hyuga nodded after hearing this. He had heard of Mirai and then spoke sternly, "Starting tomorrow, you will be assigned as Lady Kiyo Hyuga's personal guard. You will follow her during her commutes to and from school."

"I understand, Zosuke-sama!"

Although Mirai was unwilling in his heart, he immediately agreed. He had no choice but to accept. Resistance would be futile, and displaying his emotions could draw the displeasure and hostility of the main family.

"After school, once you've escorted Lady Kiyo back home, you may have free time, but you must attend the clan's unified training. You will accompany Lady Kiyo during her training sessions."

Zosuke Hyuga approached and patted Mirai's shoulder, saying, "As Lady Kiyo's personal guard, your clan stipend will increase by five thousand ryo each month. Remember, the mission of the branch family is to protect the members of the main house. For the branch family, it is the greatest honor to give our lives for the main family!"

"Yes, I understand, Zosuke-sama!"

Mirai gave a loud, toothy grin in response, but there was no emotion in his pure white eyes. What he truly thought remained unknown to Zosuke Hyuga.
