NARUTO: Ninja World Scientific Revolution

Chapter 16: CHAPTER 16 - Departure from the Village

For five consecutive days, the team under Akimichi Fuu completed three D-rank missions each day, before dispersing to train. If the three Hyuga members, including Hyuga Mirai, still had energy left, Fuu would give them pointers on chakra control techniques, battle timing, and other skills. The two Hyuga clan members and Kurenai Yuhi, who was also skilled in her family's genjutsu, had little to learn from Fuu in ninjutsu. His focus was on helping them improve their combat experience and skills.

With Fuu, a Jonin, as their trainer and sparring partner, Hyuga Mirai and the others gained a lot. When the team had first been formed, their coordination was still a little off, but after several days of practice and battles with Fuu, their teamwork had greatly improved.

"It's time," Fuu said calmly. "Today, we'll take a C-rank mission."

Hyuga Kiyo and Kurenai Yuhi both let out a deep breath, and even Hyuga Mirai felt a sense of relief. They could finally bid farewell to the dull D-rank missions. If not for Hyuga Kiyo's stubbornness, Mirai should have been at the Konoha Hospital learning medical ninjutsu by now.

Though Mirai still planned to assist Nakao at the hospital after training, he would spend much less time there, which meant fewer chances to hone his skills and earn rewards. If it weren't for the Jonin, Fuu, guiding them in the team, Mirai would have gained little from this experience.

C-rank missions were already more intense, involving combat but without the participation of ninjas, so they were typically assigned to Genin. With a Jonin as their captain, however, taking a C-rank mission was no problem for their team, and for them, it was just another opportunity to hone their skills.

"Escort the merchant caravan to the Land of Grass," Fuu said, receiving a mission that was categorized as an escort task. The mission was deemed unlikely to encounter enemy ninjas, so it was rated C-rank. After showing the mission scroll to Mirai and the others, Fuu spoke again. "We'll gather at the Konoha gate, then head out."

Kiyo needed to inform her clan, but since she had already been allowed to join the mission, leaving the village wasn't a problem. Mirai didn't need to prepare much—just his ninja tools, medical supplies, food, and other essentials packed into a backpack, before he calmly waited for the departure time.

Soon, there was a knock at the door. Mirai got up to answer, finding Hyuga Zosuke waiting outside.

"Mirai-kun, I heard your team is leaving the village for a mission?"

"Yes, Lord Zosuke," Mirai nodded. "Our captain has taken a C-rank mission to escort a merchant caravan to the Land of Grass."

Although it was supposed to be a confidential mission, this was the Hyuga clan, and Mirai still bore the Caged Bird seal, which made him answer truthfully.

Zosuke seemed pleased with Mirai's answer. "Then, you should be aware of your duty. The branch family has always been tasked with protecting the main house. Your sole purpose is to safeguard the Hyuga clan, especially Lady Kiyo. If anything happens to her, you must be prepared to give your life!"

"I understand, Lord Zosuke." Mirai replied, his voice calm, his expression unchanging, as though nothing could ruffle him.

Zosuke felt something odd about Mirai's expression but quickly attributed it to Mirai being nervous about leaving the village for the first time. He nodded and repeated his instructions about the branch family's role, then left.

"People are people... living as dogs is a sign of racial decline," Mirai muttered softly to himself. "My purpose is not to serve the main house like this. The Hyuga clan..." He had spent years being brainwashed by the so-called purpose of the branch family. The twisted rhetoric had left him deeply repelled, but his strength was still lacking, and the Caged Bird seal restrained him. All he could do was endure.

"I'll make my move as soon as I get back. I'll look for an opportunity to use the system extraction!"

Mirai had already laid the groundwork for his strength. He could now take a few shortcuts and avoid the slow, step-by-step approach he had been following. His mind made the decision as the chakra pathways around his eyes activated, allowing him to sense everything within a two-kilometer radius, except for the blind spots unique to the branch family.

No hand signs were needed; Mirai had already mastered the chakra control required to activate his Byakugan, a skill that only a Hyuga family member with a high level of chakra control could achieve. Through his enhanced vision, Mirai saw Kiyo walking toward him, fully geared up. As she got closer, he stood up, slinging his backpack over his shoulder and calling out, "Kiyo, let's go."

"Did you just activate your Byakugan?" Kiyo asked as she approached and looked at him carefully.

Mirai casually replied, "I figured you must be on your way, so I took a quick look."

Although Mirai's talent in awakening the Byakugan at eight years old and learning the Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms was impressive, it didn't rival Kiyo's. But in the Hyuga clan, he was still considered quite gifted. What baffled her was why he insisted on learning medical ninjutsu. It was hard to understand.

With such talent, he could certainly become a Jonin before the age of twenty. If he focused on his training, he might even reach Jonin by fifteen or sixteen.

"Let's go!" Kiyo snorted, then turned and headed toward the Konoha gate.

When they reached the gate, Kurenai Yuhi had already arrived early, excited about her first mission. With some time left before departure, the three of them chatted casually, with Kurenai and Mirai talking more. Kiyo, bound by the formalities of the main family, rarely showed her true personality in public. She only spoke more freely when alone with Mirai.

After a while, Fuu and the merchant arrived, along with ten carts filled with goods. Aside from Fuu's team, the merchant had four bodyguards and four cart drivers.

Fuu spoke indifferently. "Let's head out."

"Understood, Jonin," the merchant replied with a polite smile, grateful that the Konoha ninjas would protect both him and his goods along the journey.

It was a well-known tradition in Konoha that many merchants would come to the village after the graduation of ninja academy students, seeking to hire high-ranking ninjas at a discounted rate.

What a twisted world this is, Mirai thought as he watched the scene unfold before him. Despite having electrical appliances, some industrial foundations, handguns, and military weapons, something about this world felt deeply distorted. There was something that shouldn't exist, something that had corrupted the entire world. If it were to disappear, the world would certainly improve.

Ninjas.
