Chapter 185: Chapter 185
Uchiha Haruki first unwrapped the bandages across Kaneki's chest.
At once, a large amount of blood gushed out. Though Kaneki was already unconscious, he let out a muffled groan, and his complexion turned even paler.
Haruki didn't react much to this.
His hands moved with practiced ease as he cleaned the damaged flesh around Kaneki's wound. After making sure there were no impurities left, he formed a series of hand seals and activated the newly-learned Mystic Palm Technique.
As an A-rank medical ninjutsu, Mystic Palm far surpassed the Healing Technique in both range and effectiveness—especially for internal injuries.
The gash across Kaneki's chest was more than just skin deep. While the surface wound looked serious, Haruki had the confidence to heal it using only Healing Technique if needed.
But the real danger came from the damaged internal organs. Without Mystic Palm, those wouldn't be reparable at all.
That was why Haruki had said Kaneki was lucky—he had just mastered Mystic Palm when Akao Akira came running to him for help.
Some people truly were favored by fate.
All these thoughts flashed briefly through Haruki's mind as he placed his glowing green palms just above Kaneki's chest wound.
Moments later, a wave of Yang Release chakra flowed into Kaneki's body through Haruki's hands. Under Haruki's guidance, it began stimulating rapid cellular regeneration.
Within mere seconds, the bleeding stopped, and Kaneki's pale complexion began to improve.
Soon after, fresh granulation tissue began to form at the edges of the wound, pulsing and growing as if alive, slowly sealing and repairing the damaged area.
The process wasn't particularly fast, but it was visibly working.
Time ticked by.
Before long, fifteen minutes had passed.
Haruki finally pulled his hands back and let out a long breath as he looked at the now fully-healed wound across Kaneki's chest.
Even with his current level of mental stamina, sustaining this level of cellular manipulation for that long had left him dizzy and slightly disoriented.
But it was absolutely worth it.
Saving Kaneki was one thing—but the jump in his Mystic Palm Technique proficiency alone had made the effort worthwhile.
Haruki opened his system panel and glanced at the stats.
Sure enough, Mystic Palm Technique had gone from Lv1 (1/200) to Lv1 (51/200)—a massive leap.
This dramatic improvement was thanks in large part to the strong foundation laid by Healing Technique. Even after unlocking Mystic Palm, the synergistic boost from Healing Technique hadn't disappeared entirely. Instead of gaining 3x proficiency like before, he now gained 2x.
And because he'd used the technique hands-on in a real-life scenario, that multiplier pushed his progress to 50 full points in just fifteen minutes.
At this rate, Haruki estimated he'd only need to treat four or five more severely injured patients to level up Mystic Palm again.
And luckily, there was no shortage of wounded here.
Haruki immediately realized this was a golden opportunity.
As he pondered his next move, Akao Akira stepped forward and asked softly, "Haruki-sama, is Kaneki… okay now?"
Her voice was low, as if afraid to disturb him.
Haruki came out of his thoughts and looked at her. With a slight nod, he replied, "He's fine now. Nothing major left to worry about."
"Really?" Akira had already guessed as much after seeing the completely healed wound on Kaneki's chest.
But hearing it from Haruki himself allowed her to finally breathe a sigh of relief.
"Thank you! Truly—thank you so much!"
Haruki simply waved her off, ready to walk away.
But just then, he noticed a few other smaller wounds on Kaneki's body were still bleeding. So he stayed a few more minutes to patch them up as well.
In the process, he gained another 10 or so proficiency points for Mystic Palm.
Only after that, and after receiving Akira's endless thanks, did Haruki finally leave.
He didn't immediately rush off to treat more patients and continue grinding Mystic Palm.
Instead, he returned to where he'd been resting earlier and began studying the Chakra Scalpel technique.
He wanted to unlock it first—this way, when treating injuries that required precise incisions, he could build experience for Chakra Scalpel too, instead of wasting the opportunity.
Putting thought into action, Haruki recalled everything he knew about the technique and began carefully practicing.
Like Mystic Palm, Chakra Scalpel was also an A-rank medical ninjutsu and not easy to master.
But with his experience from Healing Technique and Mystic Palm, Haruki managed to unlock it fairly quickly.
And during training, he also noticed something else—his Lv4 Chakra Control skill provided extra synergy when learning Chakra Scalpel.
Why?
After some analysis, Haruki concluded that Chakra Scalpel required an extremely high level of chakra control precision, and his existing Lv4 control met that threshold perfectly.
This, in turn, accelerated his learning and made it easier to get started.
Now, with both of the most important medical techniques unlocked, Haruki had taken a major step forward.
From this point on, ordinary external wounds and moderate internal injuries would no longer be life-threatening to him.
And if he could eventually learn the B-rank Poison Extraction Technique, even common toxins among shinobi would cease to be a threat.
In short, his survivability had skyrocketed.
Haruki closed his system panel and began sensing his remaining chakra reserves. He had roughly half his chakra left.
He thought about it for a moment and decided not to return to treating patients just yet.
Instead, he remained where he was and began refining more chakra.
With just over 10,000 chakra points in reserve, Haruki still didn't feel entirely safe. He wanted to push it higher before getting back to work.
Time passed quietly.
Roughly two hours later…
Haruki opened his eyes.
He now had around 17,000 chakra points—an increase of nearly 5,000.
It wasn't purely due to Chakra Refinement Technique.
After all, his current Chakra Refinement skill was only at Lv4, which meant he could recover 800 points per hour—a total of 1,600 in two hours.
The rest came from his improved Physical and Spiritual stats, which boosted his body's natural chakra recovery rate dramatically.
This was the real reason he could regenerate 5,000 chakra in just two hours.
However, this method had a daily limit.
The total amount of chakra one could recover through natural regeneration per day couldn't exceed 21,000 points—any more, and it would strain the body and damage one's foundation.
Currently, Haruki's Chakra Refinement was at the brink of leveling up.
At this pace, he estimated he could reach the next level in about ten more days.
Once that happened, this daily limit would likely increase.
And when it did, he'd be able to use even more chakra each day—a massive boost to his flexibility in battle and healing.
With that thought, Haruki stood up, left his resting spot, and headed toward the cluster of wounded shinobi once again—resuming his journey to grind proficiency.
