Chapter 151: MSOC: Chapter 151
"If you can, please commit suicide!" The absurd thought flashed through Tsuchiryū's mind. Always cautious, he'd survived the ambush thanks to an earth clone beforehand; suicide wasn't an option. He quickly dismissed the thought, desperate to escape.
But as he moved, he found his body unresponsive. He met Kai's blood-red eyes, the nine tomoe swirling, sending the world spinning. He found himself in a blood-red world, nailed to a cross. Countless versions of himself surged forward, stabbing him with chakra blades.
Ah!
A scream echoed. He knew it was a genjutsu, but knowing and escaping were different.
"No, don't kill me! I'll tell you anything!" Tsuchiryū begged, enduring the agonizing pain.
The figures stopped. A demonic figure appeared.
"I thought you'd last longer. I overestimated the next Tsuchikage. I'm curious how you passed the Stone Test to become a jōnin," Kai said playfully.
Tsuchiryū ignored the mockery. "You're right. I'm not worth your effort."
"Just don't kill me, and I'll tell you anything."
Kai was unimpressed. "You ambushed a puppeteer, right?" He was suspicious about the puppet crow's disappearance.
Tsuchiryū froze, then exclaimed, "We ambushed the Third Raikage, A! And if you don't kill me, I can help you find the puppeteer."
The Third Raikage?
Kai paused. The Third Raikage, A, was known for his strongest spear and shield—a paradoxical but formidable combination. He'd died of exhaustion after battling tens of thousands of Iwagakure ninjas for three days and nights. Kai hadn't expected Sasori to target him.
"Anything else? Iwagakure secrets, for example?" Tsuchiryū said urgently. Survival depended on his usefulness.
"Not interested," Kai said, unimpressed by Tsuchiryū's cowardice. No wonder Onoki was still Tsuchikage at seventy-something; Iwagakure lacked successors. Even the most talented, Deidara, had defected.
Unseal!
Kai's Mangekyo Sharingan deactivated. Kakuzu and a disgruntled Hidan emerged from the flames, their clothes scorched.
"Next time, don't start a fire. My clothes are ruined again."
"Can't you just respond to me?"
Hidan ripped off his clothes, taking a new robe from a storage scroll. Seeing the freshly stitched, sensitive area, Kai sighed.
"Boss, any news?" Kakuzu, changed into new clothes, looked at Tsuchiryū. His kunai flashed, slicing Tsuchiryū's throat.
Tsuchiryū's eyes widened in horror. He couldn't defend himself. "You… broke your promise! You said you wouldn't kill me!"
"I promised, but they didn't," Kai smiled warmly. "This head is worth three hundred ryō in the black market. He slaughtered two villages," Kakuzu said expertly, removing Tsuchiryū's head.
Kai twitched at the low bounty. If Tsuchiryū knew how cheaply he'd died, he'd probably haunt them.
"Hey, Kakuzu, I'm talking to you! Respond, or I'll kill you!" Hidan yelled, mirroring their usual bickering.
Kai rubbed his temples. "Enough. From Tsuchiryū, I learned two things: They ambushed the Third Raikage, A, and Sasori is likely being pursued."
The Third Raikage?
Hidan and Kakuzu froze. They might not have met him, but a Kage-level shinobi was formidable.
"Boss, can we find him? My scythe is itching for a fight," Hidan said.
Kakuzu's face showed a hint of excitement. "A Kage's head is valuable. Let me do it."
Kai sighed. "Your scythe can't break the Raikage's defense. Kakuzu, you're skilled with all five elements, but not specialized. Your wind release is useless."
Hidan and Kakuzu were silent. After witnessing Kai's power, they knew if Kai couldn't do it, no one could.
"Boss, do you have a plan?" Kakuzu asked, remembering the fear of facing Hashirama and Madara.
"Simple. Let him fight himself," Kai smirked, about to enter his system.
Boom!
A massive explosion echoed in the distance. Black smoke billowed, and the shockwave reached them.
Kai frowned. They exchanged glances and rushed towards the explosion. Sasori, with his three hundred puppets, could destroy a country, but against the Raikage's spear and shield, he'd be outmatched if he couldn't break through the defense. If they were too late, Sasori might be killed, something Kai wanted to avoid.
