Naruto: Kushina's Redemption, My Revenge

Chapter 85: Chapter 85: A Long-Awaited Sparring Match

After Chinya proposed going to the Land of Grass to Orochimaru, he began handing over his responsibilities.

Once everything was passed on and his belongings packed, Chinya calmly waited for his transfer order.

Orochimaru wouldn't assign him any missions in the following few days, so Chinya could finally relax for a while.

Chinya spent three solid days slacking off around the camp like there was no tomorrow.

Everyone already knew that Chinya was leaving the Land of Hot Water.

As for Kyousuke Uchiha and the other three, they had listened to Chinya's suggestion—but not entirely.

Kyousuke Uchiha didn't follow Kazuo Uchiha, nor did he join Minato Namikaze. Instead, he was assigned by Nara Shouji. The four of them were dispatched to separate teams.

In their eyes, joining Minato Namikaze's squad together meant bowing their heads to him.

Although Kyousuke and the others had been suppressed by Chinya for years, deep inside, they remained proud and unwilling to yield to anyone.

So it was better to accept Nara Shouji's arrangement and join their designated squads.

Night fell.

Chinya lay on a small hill, gazing at the moon.

Once the total war began, he would truly become busy.

Once all the elite Jonin from different ninja villages started coming out, Witness Points would blow up like crazy.

Suddenly, a kunai landed beside Chinya.

It wasn't a regular kunai—it had a trident-shaped handle etched with "Shinai no Ken" (Shinai Sword).

In the next instant, Minato Namikaze appeared where the kunai had landed.

Chinya smirked and said, "Is showing off your Flying Thunder God Technique a little too late now?"

Minato put the kunai back into his ninja tool pouch and gently asked, "I heard you're heading to the Land of Grass? Why the sudden move? The situation there seems stable; surely you aren't needed for reinforcement?"

Chinya replied casually, "I don't owe you any explanations about where I go."

Minato sighed, "You really haven't changed—not the slightest bit sociable."

Chinya snapped back, "That's one correct thing you've said. I haven't changed—I still hate you as always."

Minato smiled without taking offense and continued, "Before heading to the Land of Grass, shouldn't you return to Konoha first?

I'm also planning to go back. Right now, Konoha is preparing for total war. Once battle fully erupts, even Genin will be sent to the frontlines. To strengthen these young shinobi, I've been assigned to lead a team of three students. As another Jonin, you must have received this same order too, right?"

Chinya curled his lips slightly, "I do plan to return to Konoha, but I won't be babysitting kids."

Indeed, he'd received such a command before.

But what kind of real combat power can a bunch of fresh academy grads even have? They weren't all Kakashi Hatake-level prodigies.

Inexperienced Genin are barely more than expendable assets on the battlefield—maybe even less than that.

Chinya already had his hands full—he didn't have time to waste dealing with brats in battle.

So Chinya had no intention of accepting this command and planned to make up an excuse to refuse later.

Upon hearing that Chinya had no intention of leading a Genin team, Minato found it perfectly understandable. "I thought so too. It would be strange if you actually agreed to lead one. I suppose you're returning to Konoha simply to visit Kushina."

Chinya frowned. "What exactly do you want from me? I don't feel like chatting with you casually. If you want to fight me, just say it directly!"

Minato admitted, "That's right. This time, I really came here hoping for a battle with you. After all, once you head to the Land of Grass, we'll be on two separate battlefields, making it difficult to meet again. I wanted to take this chance to challenge you once more for a sparring match.

I was hoping to catch up a little first—we did spend all those years together in the Land of Hot Water, fighting side by side after all..."

"Stop! Stop it!"

Chinya couldn't take any more and cut him off. "Cut the crap. Don't pull that on me. What 'fighting side by side'? We've never actually fought side by side these past few years. And there's nothing nostalgic about you—I have nothing old to recall with you either. So stop being so fake and saying stuff like this—it just makes my skin crawl."

Chinya stood up from the ground and placed his hand on a ninja sword, speaking toward Minato. "Still, I do want to see just how fast your Flying Thunder God Technique really is. Enough talk. Let's get this started."

Minato pulled out two Flying Thunder God Kunai from his Ninja Tool Pouch.

"I'm ready now, Chinya."

"Then let's begin!"

At the very moment Chinya finished speaking, Minato threw both Flying Thunder God Kunai in his hands, attacking Chinya from two different directions.

Chinya activated his Sharingan and observed Minato's Flying Thunder God Kunai.

[Flying Thunder God Technique] enables teleportation through the use of marked seals. The user pre-marks their target with the Flying Thunder God seal formula, enabling instantaneous movement of either the user or objects indirectly connected via the user's chakra.

Moreover, the Flying Thunder God Technique can be used offensively—to shorten distance for long-range ninjutsu, confuse, ambush opponents, redirect targets, or even serve as an emergency escape method. It was an extremely versatile Space–Time Ninjutsu technique.

Now Minato had thrown two Flying Thunder God Kunai, which meant he had two choices.

His first choice was to pick one kunai and teleport to its position. Second choice: not use the Flying Thunder God at all, treating both kunai merely as feints.

But Chinya was definitely not someone who would wait passively for an attack.

Chinya actively charged toward the Flying Thunder God Kunai closest to him.

From Minato's perspective, Chinya must have suspected he'd use the Flying Thunder God to teleport to that kunai's position and counterattack.

However, doing so would leave Chinya's right rear wide open. By teleporting to the other kunai's location, Minato would have a significant chance of successfully attacking Chinya.

Just as Minato prepared to activate the Flying Thunder God, he suddenly stopped.

Because based on his understanding of Chinya as an opponent, Minato realized Chinya shouldn't possibly expose such an obvious weakness.

Especially considering Chinya already knew about the abilities of the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Minato Namikaze forcibly suppressed his urge to use the Flying Thunder God technique and remained in place.

The next second.

As Chinya slashed toward the Flying Thunder God Kunai, he simultaneously hurled a large number of shuriken toward his own right rear side.

If Minato chose to teleport to the location of that Flying Thunder God Kunai, he would face a barrage of shuriken.

Chinya gazed at Minato, who had stayed put, with mild surprise. "Oh? Did you see through my plan, or were you testing me from the start?"

Minato stared gravely at Chinya.

Seeing Minato's expression, Chinya grinned slightly. "Looks like you figured it out. I guess my intention was indeed somewhat obvious."
