This is it. Shiro prepared his mind as he looked at the Konoha Academy.

It was a huge building that was located directly at the base of Hokage's mountain.

Shiro tries to calm himself down.

Don't worry. Your tuition fees are already covered. All you have to do is graduate and become a Genin. Then I can stand on my own two feet without having to rely on everybody.

Shiro was wearing a black T-shirt with long black pants. He was also wearing a white jacket that had a collar that covered his mouth along with a hood on top of it.

He walked into the academy building while holding a slip of white paper in his hand.

"This should be the place."

Shiro entered the room and saw other children who were around the same age in the classroom.

There was a blackboard and the teacher's table and chair.

And four rows of tables and chairs for the students to sit.

He walked passed all of them and sat down in the corner of the row which was placed furthest away from the blackboard.

"Hey, who is that guy? I have never seen him before at the playground."

"That is strange since his hair is making him stand out."

"And look at those red eyes. Don't tell me. He is some kind of vampire prince."

The children in the room talked about Shiro for a few seconds.

It was hard to ignore him since he stood out from the crowd.

There was one person who stood out more than him that was around his age but he was not in this classroom.

But someone who can be considered to be as popular as that infamous kid was in the classroom along with him.

A spiky black hair kid who was wearing a black sleeve shirt with a high collar, and white shorts walked into the room with a huge smile on his face.

Shiro immediately found out that the boy who just walked in was an important person.

"Kyaa."

"Sasuke-kun is in the same class as us."

"Cool. That means we will be classmates with a Uchiha clan member."

"I am interested to see what Itachi Uchiha's brother could do."

While their classmate's reaction to Shiro was where does this flashy guy came from, their reaction to Sasuke was different.

They are treating him as someone who was destined for greatness.

"Oh. Sasuke you are assigned to my class too."

A Chunin called Daikoku Funeno said as he walked into the classroom.

He was the instructor for this classroom.

He also noticed Shiro who was sitting far away from him because of his flashy hair color.

The Konoha Academy usually teaches children primarily about skills such as reading, writing, maths, science, and geography.

Since those subjects can help the children in their future ninja missions or their everyday lives.

But the true purpose of the Academy was to produce powerful soldiers for the village.

To serve the Hokage and to support the village in wartime.

So the most important classes are classes that are classes that specialise in combat.

Such as Bukinutsu(weapons arts), Taijutsu classes(hand-to-hand combat arts), Genjutsu classes(creating illusions), and Ninjutsu classes(the ability to use powerful abilities from Chakra).

"Tenko Shiro, 86 points."

The Chunin instructor said as he wrote down the score that Shiro was able to achieve in the Kunai throwing test.

"..."

Shiro was not trying his best but he doubted that he could have gotten more than two extra points even if he was focusing entirely on the test.

Some of the targets that he has to hit are located in the area where even the most skilled Chunins will find it hard to hit with just kunai.

Sasuke has his test taken after Shiro.

The way he handles the Kunai. His throwing techniques are far above what normal students can perform. As expected of Itachi's brother. The instructor thought in his mind.

His throwing techniques might be even better than Hayate's. Shiro also thought in his mind as he was impressed by Sasuke's showing.

It is to be expected as Sasuke learned his throwing techniques directly from Itachi Uchiha.

The biggest prodigy that comes out of Konoha after the fourth Hokage.

"Nail it," Sasuke said while smiling.

"Sasuke Uchiha. 88 points."

"88? Did I miss something?" He asked in shock.

Despite it being the current highest score Sasuke was not satisfied.

"Don't worry Sasuke. You now have the highest score. Followed by Shiro who has two fewer points than you."

"And most of the students got less than thirty points. Your points are not as much as Itachi's but it's still enough to make you a top student."

The instructor said to Sasuke.

But Sasuke acted like it was still not enough.

"How many points did my brother get on this test."

"99. He missed a target that was behind a rock. That is the highest score in Konoha history."

He wanted to surpass his brother so being good was not enough.

He wanted to be praised by his brother and father so he thought that he had to do much more.

That guy's name is Shiro, was it? That guy is almost as good as me. Sasuke thought in his mind when he realized that Shiro's score was only two points behind him.

And he was yarning when Sasuke was looking at him.

And his body posture shows that he was not giving a 100%.

At that time Sasuke viewed the young Shiro as his potential rival.

After school, Shiro prepared to go back to the orphanage.

And he saw Hayate and a girl who was around Hayate's age waiting for him.

The girl was Hayate's girlfriend who was one year younger than him, called Yugo Uzuki.

"What are you two doing here?"

Shiro asked.

"I am here to show you your new apartment that comes with your scholarship. And to celebrate your first day at school."

Hayate said.

"What do you want to eat?"

He then asked.

"Anything is fine."

"Then let's go get some ramen. I know a great shop that sells good ramen."

Hayate said as he ruffled Shiro's head.
