Chapter 33: CHAPTER 33
The blazing fire dragon surged forward, closing the distance to within five meters of Kakashi. The searing heat distorted the air around it, and Kakashi felt his hair begin to singe.
This was no ordinary technique. Two elemental jutsu—Fire Release and Wind Release—had been masterfully combined, amplifying their destructive force to near S-rank. The cooperation required for such fusion was exceptional. Ordinarily, that level of coordination meant deep mutual understanding. But if even one user had precise chakra control and the other followed closely, the fusion was possible.
The fusion of elemental ninjutsu created a multiplier effect in power—an ultimate technique, perfect for turning the tide in a desperate situation.
Now, the flames were upon him. No room to dodge. Then don't.
Kakashi didn't flinch. Instead of panic, he radiated unshakable resolve.
S-rank jutsu? As if that's rare. He'd used plenty.
His fingers blurred into seals. Blue lightning crackled in his right hand, but this time there was no familiar screech of a thousand birds—only the hum of pure, refined chakra.
Raikiri.
The "Lightning Cutter," an evolution of Chidori. Stronger, more controlled, and no longer bound by the need for the Sharingan's perception—especially in close range.
Contrary to common belief, Chidori could be used without the Sharingan, especially when the enemy was in plain sight. It was just riskier. But this? This was Raikiri—refined beyond its limits.
"What kind of jutsu is that? He's shaping chakra with visible intensity!" Shui Li gasped.
"A terrifying technique…" Shanchuan murmured, stunned.
Kakashi ignored their awe. The inferno bore down. His arm shot forward.
"Raikiri!"
The lightning blade flared—radiant, precise, deadly.
The fire dragon met the blade… and shattered.
Split apart like paper.
Kakashi roared, surging forward.
A flash of silver-white lightning streaked across the flames—Kakashi's silhouette engulfed in thunder. He drove Raikiri through the fire dragon's core, tearing through it head to tail.
The fire parted like a curtain, forming a path as if yielding to him.
And then, silence.
The flames vanished into smoke. The last of Kakashi's Raikiri fizzled out.
He landed, panting, shaking his right hand. The power behind the combined fire technique wasn't trivial. Even breaking it had taken a toll. His arm trembled, muscles twitching from strain.
Shui Li and Shanchuan stood frozen, eyes wide. Their trump card… annihilated in a single stroke.
And Kakashi remained unharmed.
Shanchuan and Shui Li exchanged looks, fear rising in their eyes. They swallowed hard.
"Y-You… who are you?!" Shui Li stammered, voice cracking.
Kakashi smirked and stepped forward without a word.
These two were finished. Time to end this.
"Silver hair… a covered eye… blue lightning release…" Shanchuan's eyes widened. "You're Konoha's Copy Ninja… Hatake Kakashi!"
Kakashi stopped, eyebrow raised.
"You recognized me? A bit late, don't you think?"
Indeed, far too late. If they'd known from the start, they might have chosen flight over battle.
"You're a Konoha ninja! You can't kill us!" Shui Li suddenly shouted, as if grasping for a thread of hope.
Kakashi chuckled, dark and amused.
"Can't I? If you interfere with my mission, I have full discretion. That's the reality of the ninja world—you should know that."
His voice was cold, sharp with truth.
Silence fell. They knew he was right. As shinobi, death was always part of the equation.
"…I see. Then… goodbye."
Kakashi's voice was soft. The moment he spoke, Shui Li and Shanchuan realized their doom.
"Chidori Blade!"
Kakashi's blade—Kuhana (Thousand Ting)—lit up with lightning. The current extended in an instant, the blade stretching out beyond five meters!
"Ugh—!!"
A burst of lightning carved through both enemies—one swift, fluid strike.
Their eyes widened in disbelief. They hadn't even seen him move.
The electric hum echoed in the silence. Their bodies jerked once—paralyzed. Their final emotions: regret and shock.
Blue arcs sizzled around their wounds. They collapsed, breathless, light fading from their eyes. Not even a word made it out.
Kakashi exhaled and released the chakra. The lightning vanished.
For a moment, he stood in stillness, eyes on the corpses. A pang stirred in his chest. In this life—this world—it wasn't his first kill. But… this body was Kakashi's. And these hands had already taken lives long before him.
He adjusted to it quickly.
He briefly considered incinerating the bodies but thought better of it. These were Jinnin Village shinobi. Better to let Ryugasaki deal with them.
Kakashi turned his gaze ahead. During the battle, the teams had been separated. He had no idea what was happening with Ryugasaki.
Sensing no enemy presence nearby, Kakashi headed toward the other battlefield.
When he arrived, the scene had shifted. Three of the original five Chūnin remained.
Ryugasaki now stood alongside one of them—clearly the informant he had mentioned earlier. During the confusion of battle, the spy had slain a Chūnin, and Ryugasaki had struck while the others were distracted, killing another.
Now, only two Chūnin stood against them.
"Traitor! Leap, how dare you betray Lord Shanchuan?!" one of the Chūnin snarled.
Indeed, the informant was Yizuki Leap.
"Hmph. Following Shanchuan and Shui Li? They were leading Jinrencun to ruin."
"Don't act righteous! You're a disgrace!" the other Chūnin roared, fury in his eyes.
"Enough! This situation isn't in our favor. We need to regroup with Lord Shui Li, now!" the calmer Chūnin ordered.
"Tch… fine."
Even the enraged one realized retreat was their only option.
But a shadow blocked their path.
"Heh. Go back? That's not happening," Ryugasaki said, coldly stepping forward.
"No need," Kakashi's calm voice cut through the tension.
"They're already dead. You won't find help there."
Everyone turned, stunned.
