Chapter 34: Fire Release: Heavenly Prison
A new day.
Kitazawa arrived early at the Ninja School. The playground, usually quiet in the morning, was already bustling with energy as many students were warming up.
"Kitazawa." Mizuki approached from a distance.
"Mizuki," Kitazawa nodded slightly, then asked, "Iruka isn't here yet?"
"I'm guessing he's sleeping in." Mizuki smiled and added, "You don't know this, but he's had a habit of procrastinating since childhood. He's also timid—used to cry from fear."
In truth, Mizuki hadn't informed Umino Iruka on purpose.
"You seem to be good friends with him. So, were you also brought to tears?" Kitazawa asked slowly. As the saying goes, there's always one idiot in a group of three.
"Me? No way!" Mizuki's expression changed. His smile stiffened as he hastily denied it.
"I see." Kitazawa smiled, patted his shoulder, and gave him a meaningful look.
What do you mean you 'see'?! Damn it! Mizuki instinctively wanted to defend himself, but Kitazawa had already walked off.
He returned to Class A of the first grade.
"Damn you, Kitazawa!" Mizuki gritted his teeth. "One day, you'll regret this!"
He was furious. Kitazawa now had the Hokage's attention. Any dirty tricks wouldn't work. Taking a deep breath, Mizuki's gaze shifted to Hyuga Neji not far away.
His original intent had been to flaunt his genius student to Kitazawa, but instead, he got ridiculed.
Kitazawa stood still, stroking his chin. As the saying goes, a gentleman's revenge is never too late—but he wasn't a gentleman.
He could tolerate being remembered by a woman, but not by a man.
Still, it wasn't the right time. Mizuki hadn't committed a real offense yet.
"Teacher Kitazawa!" Uzumaki Naruto's energetic voice rang out.
Kitazawa looked at him, and a strange gleam flashed in his eyes. Suddenly, an idea came to him—to use Naruto to frame Mizuki.
In the original story, Mizuki manipulated Naruto into stealing the Scroll of Seals.
Kitazawa always found it odd. The Scroll of Seals contains many of Konoha's most powerful forbidden techniques—how could it be so easily stolen?
Although he always viewed things with suspicion, something felt off. Maybe it was Sarutobi Hiruzen's micromanagement again.
[The wicked Mizuki has set his eyes on you, a budding talent. Please grant him a song of 'Tears Behind Bars.'
Current Mission: Send Mizuki to prison.
Reward: Fire Release – Heavenly Prison.]
Kitazawa's eyebrows lifted, and a smile crept onto his face. Mizuki, your rat-like existence ends today—with just one key click! Any prison will do.
There's a facility in the Land of Grass called Hōzuki Castle. It houses an elite warden named Mui. His signature technique is Fire Release: Heavenly Prison.
It seals the target's chakra and prevents it from condensing. But the most terrifying part is—if the target moves too far away, it will ignite automatically.
Though labeled a Fire Release jutsu, it's actually a blend of fire and sealing techniques.
In the ninja world, sealing jutsu—especially when paired with Sage Mode—is practically the foundational code of everything. It's just too powerful.
"Teacher Kitazawa." Uchiha Sasuke walked up hesitantly after glancing at Naruto.
"Sasuke!" Naruto beamed and greeted him.
"I won't lose to you again in today's physical exam," Sasuke said coldly as Naruto's cheerful grin somehow irritated him.
"If I beat you once, I can beat you again!" Naruto said with confidence. "See you at the top!"
See you at the top…? Sasuke took a quiet step back. If he stuck around Naruto any longer, he was bound to be dragged down to his level.
"Ahhhh!" A beast-like cry echoed across the grounds. Iruka came dashing at full speed, possibly the fastest sprint of his life.
Seventeen years old… and already a teacher.
Kitazawa glanced at the time: 8:55—just barely on time.
"S-Sorry, Kitazawa-senpai!" Iruka stopped, panting and drenched in sweat.
"No problem. You made it," Kitazawa replied, then added in a low voice, "Be wary of Mizuki."
"Huh?" Iruka was confused.
What does that mean? Is someone trying to sabotage the exam? Is there a traitor among us?
"Alright everyone, gather up! I'll now explain the rules of the practical test." Kitazawa clapped, drawing the students' attention.
Under normal circumstances, a practical test would be actual combat.
But after just one month of school, most students hadn't even mastered the basic Three Techniques—it'd be more like a chicken fight than a real battle.
And for those from prestigious ninja clans, such a test would be an overwhelming advantage.
To avoid breaking the spirits of civilian-born students, this first practical exam didn't involve combat matchups.
"This practical test has four components: Clone Technique, Physical Fitness, Shuriken Throwing, and Kunai Throwing."
Kitazawa raised four fingers. "I'll give a demonstration first."
Though labeled a demo, it was sneakily added to his own score report. Kitazawa pulled out a kunai and a shuriken, spun them in his hands, and threw them.
Clang! The two weapons collided mid-air, followed a curved trajectory, and landed precisely in two bullseyes.
He clearly did it intentionally—just to assert dominance over Uchiha Sasuke.
"Amazing!" Naruto cheered. It wasn't just flattery. That throw was pretty awesome.
Hinata Hyuga clenched her small fists, eyes full of admiration. If only I could overpower everyone like Teacher Kitazawa… but maybe it's not impossible.
If she could take first place, her father Hiashi Hyuga might finally see her in a new light.
Uchiha Sasuke immediately sensed a familiar pressure. What's with this guy? A demonstration this flashy?
He sighed inwardly. Too bad he hadn't learned advanced shuriken techniques yet, or he could've stolen the spotlight back.
"The first test is the Clone Technique." Kitazawa performed the jutsu, then said, "Come up one by one in order."
He pulled out the student roster and pen, ready to take notes.
"It's my turn!" Naruto walked proudly to the center of the field like a rooster ready to fight.
"Go, Naruto!" Shikamaru and Choji cheered from the sidelines.
Naruto glanced around. Most people didn't expect much from him. But Kitazawa's encouraging gaze gave him strength.
If I mess up here, my student life is over!
"Clone Technique!" Naruto shouted as he formed the seals.
Kitazawa's lips twitched. Who taught you to yell out the jutsu name during casting?
Bang!
Two lifelike clones of Naruto appeared.
"Not bad," Kitazawa praised. "You did really well this time."
"Thank you, Mr. Kitazawa!" Naruto said excitedly.

Hokage's Office
A crystal ball sat on the desk, showing Naruto's image. Sarutobi Hiruzen stroked his beard with a smile. Kitazawa really is something.
