Chapter 212: Side Story Uchiha Sasuke 2
"You mean in the other timeline, things are so different that even Kurama was sealed inside you?" asked Naruto in surprise.
"Yes," Setsuna nodded. "In your timeline, Uchiha Madara brother died, and I either didn't exist or died early. But in my timeline, I survived and I was the one who convinced both Madara and Hashirama to build Konoha together."
Setsuna then began to explain everything that differed between his timeline and the current one, outlining key events that altered the different of the two world.
"So… because of all that, I asked Sasuke to tell me everything about his timeline. I was certain something had gone wrong here," Setsuna concluded.
Everyone grew silent for a while, absorbing the new knowledge and information from his words.
"I didn't know there could be two completely different timelines like that," said Shikamaru thoughtfully.
"Well… now back to the topic. Why did you lose your Nine Tails?" Setsuna asked, shifting the conversation.
Naruto looked at Shikamaru, who gave a small nod, indicating it was okay to explain what had happened.
"It all started with an organization called Kara…" Naruto began, recounting the story of his battle against Jigen and how he had been forced to use Baryon Mode.
After finishing the story, it was clear to Setsuna that Naruto still carried sorrow in his heart over the loss of Kurama.
"Baryon Mode?" Setsuna repeated. "You mean this?"
In an instant, Setsuna activated his own form—entering Baryon Mode combined with KCM 3.
"It's almost the same," Naruto said, observing it carefully, "but slightly different."
"Look closely at the red-golden chakra surrounding me," Setsuna replied. "Feel the energy it emits."
Naruto focused deeply, letting his sensory perception take in the chakra. After a minute, his eyes widened in shock, this is the same form that he managed to enter, but it was first and the last before Kurama perished.
"How… How did you manage to enter this form without sacrificing Kurama?" asked Naruto, stunned.
"This form?" Setsuna smiled. "Because I trained, pushed myself and Kurama to the limit. Eventually, we discovered this new transformation, which is far more advanced and efficient than the original Baryon Mode."
---Ten Tails---
Setsuna explained the reason and how they managed to evolve into KCM 3, it was quite complicated but Naruto finally get the answer.
"If I know about this before..." said Naruto, he left his words hanging.
"There's something I need to tell you all," said Setsuna didn't care with Naruto lost, his expression turning serious. "I've sensed something troubling. It feels like another tailed beast had emerge, he is far more powerful than my Nine Tails Kurama."
"What?" Everyone's eyes widened in alarm at the revelation.
"Can you describe what you sensed in more detail?" asked Shikamaru calmly, though his voice hinted at concern.
"I felt a chakra stronger than any tailed beast I've known, even stronger than my Kurama," Setsuna explained. "But I couldn't identify exactly what it was. Its location is masked by a barrier, making it impossible to pinpoint the exact location. I could only feel its presence when im entering sage mode."
Shikamaru folded his arms. "Hmm… based on that, it could very well be the Ten Tails. We've encountered it before. And from the way you describe it, the chakra you're sensing likely belongs to that creature."
"The Ten Tails…" Setsuna murmured. "That would mean someone has already planted a chakra seed and is waiting for it to mature—intending to devour it afterward."
"That's… possible," said Shikamaru grimly. "And if that's true, we're running out of time."
"Before we begin anything else, how much time has passed since Boruto and Sasuke left for the past?" asked Setsuna.
"It's been four years," answered Shikamaru. "What about on your side? How much time passed in your timeline?"
"It's also been four years," replied Setsuna calmly.
"To be honest, there's a lot I want to talk about," he continued, "but for now, how about we rest for today?" His tone was casual, but his mind was already racing with the many things he had to plan, dealing with the Kara organization if it still there, monitoring the Otsutsuki clan, and adapting to this timeline who are lot different from his time.
More than anything, though, Setsuna had been looking forward to trying Ichiraku Ramen, something that didn't exist in his own timeline.
----Dinner With Uzumaki Family---
Unfortunately, his plans for Ichiraku Ramen had to be postponed when the Uzumaki family warmly invited him for dinner at their home.
"Sensei, you're going to love it. My mom is the best chef in the entire village," Boruto said proudly.
He picked up a bowl filled with stewed meat and handed it to Setsuna. Because of how well Setsuna had treated Boruto in the alternate timeline, the Uzumaki family felt grateful and wanted to return the kindness with a hearty meal.
"Thank you, Boruto," said Setsuna, accepting the bowl.
He took a bite, chewing slowly. The meat was tender, rich with flavor.
"Hmm… This is delicious," Setsuna praised sincerely.
"Told you! My mom cooking skills are unbeatable," Boruto grinned.
"Boruto, don't praise me too much," Hinata said with a bashful smile, slightly blushing.
"Mom, it's not praise if it's true," Boruto replied cheekily.
Naruto chuckled, then turned his attention to Setsuna.
"So… how was Boruto doing in Uzushiogakure?" he asked.
"Well," Setsuna began, "since your younger self was also there, Boruto and young Naruto naturally became rivals. When one grew stronger, the other pushed himself even further. Eventually, Boruto managed to learn one of Minato signature techniques—your father teleportation jutsu. But I later gave him an improved version of it."
"Improved version?" Naruto jaw dropped. He had once studied his father jutsu but could never master it, only Rasengan he managed to master and perfected it. Teleportation? even with Sage Mode, he failed to master the jutsu.
"Yes," Setsuna confirmed. "This new version uses less chakra, it is easier to detect from far, and can carry more people at once."
"What?!"
Setsuna smiled mischievously. "And your younger self managed to learn it, too—after watching Boruto use it."
"My younger self too?" Naruto looked completely stunned, trying to wrap his mind around the idea that his immature self manage to learn it.
"Hahahaha! Old man, admit it—I'm stronger than you now!" Boruto boasted playfully.
"Whoa! Oni-chan is stronger than Papa?" Himawari gasped in admiration.
Kawaki, sitting nearby, glanced at Boruto with a quiet, serious gaze, the eyes of a rival sizing up his competition.
Suddenly, Hinata interjected, "Where did Boruto stay in Uzushiogakure?"
"He lived with his great-grandfather, Namikaze Kirito," Setsuna answered.
Naruto ears perked up. "Wait… I had a grandfather?"
"Yes. Namikaze Kirito was my student. I brought him to Uzushiogakure many years ago. When Boruto arrived, we noticed mustache that means it is from Kurama. We later confirmed that Kirito was indeed Minato father, the fourth Hokage in your timeline. Coincidentally, Kirito also had a son named Minato, who had blonde hair and blue eyes, just like you."
Naruto was speechless for a moment. A subtle jealousy flickered in his eyes as he looked at Boruto, who had met his family that Naruto never had the chance to know.
Noticing this, Setsuna reached into his pocket and pulled out a photo. He handed it to Naruto.
"This is a picture of your grandfather and grandmother, together with a young Minato… and Boruto," said Setsuna.
Naruto took the photo with trembling hands. A smile spread across his face as he stared at the image, his eyes misty. To him, it was more than just a photograph—it was a missing piece of his identity. Hinata and Himawari leaned in beside him, their eyes full of wonder as they looked at the precious photo.
Just then, something caught Setsuna attention.
He glanced at Kawaki, then abruptly reached out and grabbed Kawaki wrist, examining the mark on his palm.
"This is… the Karma mark," Setsuna muttered, eyes narrowing.
Everyone went quiet.
Boruto, Naruto, and Shikamaru looked at Kawaki, waiting for him to speak.
Setsuna eyes didn't leave the mark. "This… this isn't good. Who gave you this mark?"
Kawaki remained silent for a moment before finally muttering, "It came from Jigen… back when I was still under Kara's control."
Setsuna sighed. "I feared as much. This Karma… it's not just a mark. It's a seed—a dangerous one. If left unchecked, it can grow into something far worse. Boruto mark had been erased by me and we need to erase your mark too."
His expression turned grim.
"There's a lot more going on than I thought," sighed Setsuna.
