Naruto: I Am The System

Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Ascension — Reincarnation Space

This guy…

The moment Orochimaru laid eyes on the man, he felt his entire body involuntarily tense up. The oppressive aura of death radiating from him made it hard to breathe—like a lowly creature cornered by an apex predator.

This man's power… even compared to the legendary God of Shinobi, wasn't inferior in the slightest.

Jose Porla—one of the Ten Wizard Saints.

A master of Dark Magic, wielding incredibly powerful and evil energy. In Nawaki's system classification, he was rated S+.

He was also the Guild Master of Phantom Lord.

Perhaps he was weaker than Madara at full strength… but against the current Sannin, he held absolute superiority.

"...If I tell you what you want, will you let me go?" Orochimaru asked with difficulty, forced to speak under the suffocating magical pressure.

"No problem. If you tell me where Miss Lucy is, I might even grant you the honor of joining the mighty Phantom Lord guild."

Jose grinned, his expression twisted and sinister.

Hearing that, Orochimaru's face lit up with mock surprise and eagerness. He quickly nodded.

"Lucy was taken by my two companions. I don't know exactly where they've gone, but I have a way to track them. Just give me a moment."

"Very well."

Jose folded his arms with smug satisfaction.

As long as he retrieved Lucy and fulfilled her father's request, he'd receive a hefty payment. What did the lives of a few nobodies matter in comparison?

Even better, if he could recruit these powerful newcomers into his guild, it would greatly strengthen Phantom Lord.

Chuckling cruelly to himself, Jose stepped aside to let Orochimaru "track" Lucy.

---

Three minutes passed.

"Not done yet?" Jose asked casually.

"Just a little longer, sir. This spell requires preparation," Orochimaru replied calmly.

...

Six minutes passed.

"What kind of magic are you even casting?" Jose frowned.

He noticed that Orochimaru was just making strange hand movements in the air—no mana fluctuations, no magic circle, nothing.

"Our homeland lies far from here. The magic we use is different—it relies on weaving specific hand signs to guide the magical energy within our bodies," Orochimaru explained patiently, all while continuing his gestures. He even grew a bit enthusiastic, genuinely curious about the fundamental differences between their magic systems.

But Jose, who cared far more about gold than academic knowledge, quickly lost his patience.

"Enough! How much longer?!"

"Ten more minutes."

Orochimaru answered without hesitation.

The temperature dropped.

Jose's eyes turned cold, and he grabbed Orochimaru by the collar with a grip full of killing intent. His eyes glowed with malice.

"You're stalling me, aren't you?"

At the same time, a massive black-and-purple magic circle erupted behind him, dark magic spiraling outward like a storm.

As a Dark Mage, Jose's temperament was naturally unstable and brutal—easily pushed to murder.

Only seven minutes had passed...

So impatient... Orochimaru sighed inwardly.

His body instantly disintegrated, transforming into a swarm of crimson bats that scattered in all directions.

Bat Swarm Transformation!

A vampiric ability unlocked after reaching the Viscount rank, this spell was highly effective for escape. As long as one-third of the bat swarm survived, Orochimaru would remain alive—though weakened.

But his opponent was a Saint Wizard-tier mage.

"Dark Pulse."

A chilling voice cut through the air.

A devastating vortex of evil magic exploded outward, forming a swirling black hole-like storm that devoured everything.

The bat swarm Orochimaru had split into was ripped apart instantly, pulverized into dust without resistance.

When the storm finally subsided, the corridor was eerily clean—leaving behind only a fine layer of indistinct crimson powder.

"Pathetic insect."

Jose said coldly before his body shimmered and vanished from sight.

He didn't notice that among the dust at the center lay a tiny, lifeless blood-red core—motionless and silent.

---

Three or four minutes later…

The cold, mechanical voice of the Lord God system rang out:

[Main Mission 2: Within the next 24 hours, defend Lucy from anyone who attempts to take her — Complete.]

---

A massive orb of light floated in the center of a glowing white dimension, with a single pillar of light cascading downward.

Three figures slowly stepped out from that golden-white beam.

One of them—a pale-skinned man—looked down at his hands and let out a soft, satisfied chuckle.

"As expected… the Lord God's tools are miraculous."

As a Vampire, Orochimaru possessed a unique racial trait—so long as his Blood Core remained intact, he could not truly die.

At the very last second, just before his core was about to shatter, a pre-exchanged Life-Saving Talisman activated, nullifying the fatal blow.

When he was reduced to nothing but a vulnerable blood core, even a common civilian could've finished him off…

But Jose, unaware of this, had turned and left.

Thus, Orochimaru had survived.

Suddenly—

SMACK!

A bundle of clothing smacked him in the face.

"Put some damn clothes on before you speak!"

"..."

A moment later, the Three Sannin stood side-by-side, surrounded by radiant white light, feeling as though they had just escaped death itself.

This mission had been a nightmare—without Natsu's mercy or Orochimaru's safety precaution, two of them would've surely died.

Orochimaru had practically tasted death.

"So this is the so-called Reincarnation Space the Lord God mentioned?" Tsunade looked around with confusion. "Empty... What's the point of this place?"

Aside from the central light orb, the space was completely bare.

It felt like… some kind of unfinished prototype.

Hearing her thoughts, Nawaki nearly coughed up blood.

This took forever to design, and you're calling it a half-finished shell?!

This is a full-fledged Reincarnation Space! Minimalist design! Anything more would just look tacky!

Resisting the urge to retort, he spoke through the Lord God's interface, explaining the basics to the newly ascended Sannin.

To them, it sounded like the delayed, aloof voice of the system:

[Congratulations on completing your first Ascension Mission. You have gained access to the Reincarnation Space.]

[You may now use basic functions. The current linked world is: Naruto.]

[At the central pillar, you may review Reincarnation Rules, mission history, world information, and available exchanges.]

[More areas will unlock as your authority increases.]
