Chapter 118: Naruto: godly career system-Chapter 118: The Shinobi World Shaken
Wood Release: Unseal - Hundred Roots Coffin Technique!
One by one, cocoon-like wooden roots emerged from the ground, covering the entire battlefield. These roots, resembling silkworm cocoons, began to wither and yellow, revealing the Konoha shinobi encased within.
"Is it over already?"
"This feels so comfortable... I wouldn't mind experiencing it again."
The Konoha shinobi wrapped in the Hundred Roots Coffin Technique had been nourished by the life force of the Wood Release. Without this, they would have suffocated underground due to the lack of air.
Surveying the battlefield, even Hiruzen Sarutobi, a Kage-level shinobi who had lived through all three of the great Shinobi World Wars, couldn't help but draw a sharp breath.
The remaining forces of the Iwa and Kumo allied shinobi troops huddled defensively around Ōnoki, who lay in the center of the battlefield. Holding their kunai, they stood in a standoff against the Konoha forces. However, their expressions betrayed their inner turmoil—they had no will left to fight.
Yet, none of the Konoha shinobi, not even the Third Hokage himself, showed any intention of attacking. Instead, all eyes were fixed on a single figure descending from the sky.
Shishio Mitarashi landed slowly, his feet touching the ground once more. The tide of the battle had completely turned. The once-mighty Iwa-Kumo allied forces had been reduced to mere remnants.
As he walked toward the fallen Ōnoki, the Iwa and Kumo shinobi instinctively stepped back, parting to create a path for him.
Standing tall, Shishio looked down at the disheveled, bloodied Ōnoki and asked calmly, "Ōnoki, do you now agree to sign the treaty of defeat?"
The battlefield fell silent at his words.
"I... agree... Iwa... has lost," Ōnoki murmured weakly. His faint voice ignited the entire battlefield.
"We've won!"
"Konoha forever! Long live Lord Shishio Mitarashi!"
"Lord Shishio... the strongest in the shinobi world!"
The cheers of the Konoha shinobi echoed across the battlefield. The remaining hundreds of Iwa and Kumo shinobi, hearing the victorious chants, dropped their kunai and shuriken to the ground.
"That brat Shishio... has he really grown to such a level? He's far surpassed me, his uncle," Shishio Mitarashi's uncle, Shishio Shishio, muttered as he gazed at the young man standing at the center of the battlefield. His tone was laced with helplessness, yet his lips curled into a proud smile.
"Even the First Hokage, if resurrected, might not be his match. Truly, the strongest in the shinobi world," thought Hiruzen Sarutobi to himself.
Shishio had single-handedly annihilated nearly thirty thousand shinobi from the Iwa-Kumo allied forces, defeating both the Fourth Raikage, A, and the Third Tsuchikage, Ōnoki.
The strongest in the shinobi world—this title was now indisputable.
A Storm in the Shinobi World
A few days later, a tempest swept through the shinobi world.
Iwagakure and Kumogakure, having formed an alliance, had declared war on Konoha. These two villages, whose military strength had been preserved most intact after the Third Shinobi World War, had sent their forces to the borders of the Land of Fire. Yet, their entire army was obliterated.
And this feat was achieved almost entirely by one man—Shishio Mitarashi—who single-handedly faced the entire allied shinobi forces and emerged victorious.
The five great nations were shaken to their cores. News of the event spread like wildfire, reaching every corner of the shinobi world.
The daimyō of the Land of Lightning and the Land of Earth, though seething with rage, dared not openly confront the daimyō of the Land of Fire. They were forced to cede unimaginable amounts of wealth and resources to retrieve their grievously injured Third Tsuchikage, Fourth Raikage, and the few hundred surviving shinobi from Konoha's custody.
After this battle, the conditions in Kumogakure and Iwagakure became even more dire than those faced by Sunagakure after the Third Shinobi World War. It would take them at least a decade or more of recovery to regain their former strength.
Reactions Across the Shinobi World
Sunagakure - Chiyo's Hidden Mountain Retreat
"Big Sis, did you hear? That brat Shishio Mitarashi defeated the entire Iwa-Kumo allied forces and even took down the Fourth Raikage and that old man Ōnoki," Ebizo remarked, glancing at his sister Chiyo, who was fishing nearby.
A flicker of surprise crossed Chiyo's eyes, but it quickly faded. She replied indifferently, "What does the shinobi world's affairs have to do with me? Any news on 'Akatsuki'?"
"None yet," Ebizo answered.
"Keep searching," Chiyo said after a moment of silence.
"Understood," Ebizo nodded.
Kirigakure - Mizukage's Office
Holding a scroll of intelligence reports, Mei Terumi's eyes flashed with a hint of resentment. She murmured, "Three years... Finally, there's news about that brat. And it seems he's grown even stronger. Damn it, how dare he not come to see me."
"Uh-hum," coughed Ao, the one-eyed shinobi standing nearby. He spoke hesitantly, "Mizukage-sama, Shishio Mitarashi is, after all, a Konoha shinobi. It's not exactly appropriate for him to visit Kirigakure."
Mei's expression darkened instantly. "What? Ao, are you saying I won't get married?"
Ao broke out in a cold sweat and quickly shook his head. "Of course not! I'm just saying... maybe Shishio Mitarashi will come to visit in a few days."
"Hmph," Mei finally nodded in satisfaction.
Amegakure - A Hidden Mountain Cave
"Shishio Mitarashi... has he really become this powerful? What does this mean for our plans?" Nagato, his body emaciated, asked as he turned to the man beside him wearing a spiral-patterned mask.
Under the mask, Obito Uchiha's expression was equally grim. After a long pause, he replied, "The plan remains unchanged. We must avoid direct conflict with Shishio Mitarashi at all costs. From now on, our actions must be even more covert."
After a brief hesitation, Obito continued, "This is still the time to gather strength. The Akatsuki will focus on recruiting new members. I propose we bring in the rogue ninja Kisame Hoshigaki from Kirigakure and Sasori of the Red Sand from Sunagakure."
Nagato remained silent but nodded in agreement.
Konohagakure - A Time of Celebration
Konoha was in a state of jubilation. Never before, in any Shinobi World War, had Konoha achieved such a decisive victory. Shishio Mitarashi's reputation among the Konoha shinobi had reached divine proportions.
In a Hidden Underground Chamber Beneath Konoha
In a dimly lit room nearly a hundred meters underground, Danzo Shimura, in his Edo Tensei state, sat with a grim expression, clutching a scroll of intelligence reports.
After a long silence, he tightened his grip on the scroll and muttered, "Shishio Mitarashi... I never imagined he would become this powerful. Damn it. Fortunately, I've uncovered the secret of the Sharingan. Once I obtain the Mangekyō Sharingan, I will surely defeat him!"
Ignorance breeds fearlessness. Little did Danzo know that even with the ultimate evolution of the Sharingan—the Rinnegan—he would still stand no chance against Shishio Mitarashi.
