Naruto: Fooling the Ninja World, I'm Hailed as a Savior

Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Pure and Steadfast Beliefs, Not Taking a Single Thread from the People

"Hey! Dead-eyed fish, I'm talking to you!"

The scar-faced ninja rose and walked over, stopping by the table where Hyuga Kawa and his three companions sat, looking down at them.

His sinister gaze swept over their faces, his tone laced with intimidation and menace. "You four look a bit unfamiliar, and your behavior is suspicious. I now have reason to suspect you're spies. Come with me quietly."

Unfamiliar my foot, spies my ass. The capital of the Land of Rain wasn't the Hidden Rain Village; it wasn't sealed off from external contact. There were many merchants from outside in the capital, so how could this guy possibly know everyone? Besides, a good number of people had heard his words and were sneaking glances, but Kakashi's dead-fish eyes were simply too good at drawing attention.

This was purely a case of killing the chicken to scare the monkeys, warning others who heard things they shouldn't to keep their mouths shut.

"Unlucky," Kakashi sighed inwardly, realizing this. But he also knew that escaping now was definitely not an option; it would only solidify their identity as people with something to hide. Even if they could escape, it would definitely tip off their enemies and increase the difficulty of their mission.

So, he remained silent for a moment, secretly channeling his chakra, then calmly looked up at the scar-faced ninja. "Do you know what you're doing?"

Hearing this, the three Rain ninjas who had been sitting behind, not intending to get involved, instinctively exchanged glances. They all felt a sense of unease and stood up, walking over.

"Hmm?" Looking at the seemingly fearless foursome, the scar-faced ninja's heart sank, but he didn't give an inch verbally. "Oh, you four cripples sitting together can't even make three pairs of eyes, and you dare to question me?"

Kakashi only showed one eye, and Hyuga Kawa had been feigning blindness the entire time, so indeed, they couldn't make three pairs of eyes.

"Idiot!" Kakashi's tone immediately darkened. "With that one sentence you just uttered, we could execute you!"

The scar-faced ninja's forehead immediately bulged with veins, and he stepped forward, about to lash out, but the long-haired ninja who had come up behind him quickly reached out and stopped him.

"You... are you Anbu?" The long-haired ninja narrowed his eyes, carefully observing Kakashi's group of four, finally fixing his gaze on the perpetually silent "Tenzo."

Tenzo, who would become "Yamato" in the future, was formerly "Kinoe" from the Root organization. Because he hadn't been in the Anbu for long, the dead, cold feeling from Root hadn't completely faded from him. Hanzo's Anbu wasn't like Konoha's Anbu either; it was more like "death squads" truly loyal to and protective of him.

"Now it's your turn to come with us," Kakashi said coldly, neither admitting nor denying their identity.

Hearing this, all four Rain ninjas' faces changed, and their suspicions were instantly confirmed. Recently, because of the inability to capture the remnants of the Akatsuki organization, Hanzo had grown paranoid again, suspecting internal Akatsuki sympathizers within the Hidden Rain Village.

He had ordered the Anbu to conduct a thorough investigation, leading to many people being implicated. Now, the Hidden Rain Village, from top to bottom, could be described as terrified and everyone was on edge.

In the scar-faced ninja's eyes, Tenzo's aura was exactly like that of those Anbu hyenas, which filled them with both alarm and fear. If what they had just been discussing reached the ears of Lord Hanzo, even if they were lucky enough to survive, they would be severely punished.

So, the scar-faced ninja and the long-haired ninja turned to exchange glances, both seeing each other's intentions in their eyes.

"Haha, so it's our brothers from the Hidden Rain Village. My apologies, my apologies, we were rude." The scar-faced ninja put on a look of sudden understanding, chuckling while bending down and reaching into his bosom, trying to pull out some cash. He hoped these four "hyenas" were willing to take a bribe. They weren't bold enough to attack Anbu members, but bribing them with money was certainly an option.

However, just as he reached into his bosom, Hyuga Kawa, beside Kakashi, suddenly looked up and loudly exclaimed, "What are you trying to do!"

The scar-faced ninja and the three Rain ninjas behind him instinctively froze for a moment, but before they could react, all four, including Kakashi, instantly moved, their division of labor clear.

One grabbed a wine bottle.

One smashed it towards a Rain ninja.

Bang! Bang bang!

Unopened wine bottles shattered, and red wine mixed with blood splattered, raining down a crimson shower in the tavern. Clearly, the Rain Village ninjas' extremely limited combat experience and reaction speed were no match for the four Konoha ninjas, who hailed from ninja clans, the Anbu, and Root.

The four Rain ninjas were caught off guard. Three of them were directly knocked unconscious by blows to the head, while only the largest, the scar-faced ninja, merely saw his vision go black.

"You, you are..."

His first instinct was to form hand signs, but his wrist was grasped by five slender, jade-like fingers.

Snap!

"Ah!!"

A crisp cracking sound came from his wrist, turning the scar-faced ninja's remaining words into a scream. He instinctively tried to pull back his right hand, which was throbbing with excruciating pain. But he felt as if his hand was stuck in a mountain, completely unmovable. The youth grappling with him was like a mountain peak...

Snap! Pfffttt!!

An unsettling force erupted from the hand. Bones emitted gruesome cracking sounds, and knotted muscles were instantly crushed by that force. Crimson blood spurted from between the five fingers. Amidst the bizarre sounds of flesh being squeezed, the scar-faced ninja's wrist became disfigured. Under the instantaneous, excruciating pain, his eyes rolled back, and he lost consciousness.

Thump.

Hyuga Kawa expressionlessly released his grip, and the scar-faced ninja, who had passed out from the pain, collapsed.

Witnessing this incredibly bloody and brutal scene, the patrons, who were about to scream, suddenly became silent as if their throats had been squeezed shut.

"How dare you insult Lord Hanzo, you ungrateful dog!" Hyuga Kawa loudly cursed, then looked at the stunned crowd, his tone and expression filled with indignation. He declared loudly, "Who brought us a life of peace, and who made the Land of Rain strong?!"

"It is Lord Hanzo! I hope everyone remembers, Lord Hanzo is the hero of the Land of Rain! Heroes are to be revered, not insulted! As long as Lord Hanzo remains in the Hidden Rain Village, the great nations will not dare to invade!"

"Lord Hanzo is the sun of the Land of Rain! Anyone who attempts to spread absurd remarks that shake people's hearts and cause despair will be severely punished!" His tone was impassioned and fervent, filled with a zealous admiration for Lord Hanzo.

At these words, the initially panicked and fearful crowd paused, instinctively exchanging glances. Their mood strangely calmed down, and a glimmer of light appeared in their eyes as they looked at Hyuga Kawa and his companions.

[Ding! Your lie has been judged as [Twisting Black and White]. Kijima Hiroshi, Berry, and others have experienced emotional fluctuations, reaching the level of [Deeply Convinced]. You have gained 300 points of truth.]

Meanwhile, beside Hyuga Kawa, Kakashi's mouth twitched. He naturally knew Hanzo's standing in the hearts of the Land of Rain's populace. The vast majority of the Land of Rain's people genuinely revered and admired Hanzo, with most growing up listening to his legends.

The reason the Land of Rain remained untouched during the Third Great Ninja War was precisely because Hanzo's formidable reputation deterred other great nations from invading. So, when they heard the scar-faced ninja complaining about Lord Hanzo, these commoners, though they dared not retort, were indeed displeased.

But he hadn't expected Hyuga Kawa to grasp this point so quickly. Kakashi had initially planned to impersonate an Anbu ninja to subdue the four Rain ninjas, then use his Anbu identity to order the crowd to remain silent.

However, such a forceful approach would easily breed resentment and rebellious thoughts among the people, and it would likely only delay things before someone realized something was amiss and reported it.

Therefore, while surprised by Hyuga Kawa's quick thinking and handling of the situation, Kakashi couldn't help but admire him. This method of twisting black into white was clean and efficient, and his tone truly sounded like that of a fanatical worshipper of Hanzo.

"So they're ninja adults too!"

The tavern owner, who had been hiding behind the bar, finally reacted, quickly standing up and respectfully saying, "Thank you, sirs, for clearing out the scum for the Land of Rain and the Hidden Rain Village!"

At this moment, the fear had completely vanished from the faces of everyone present, and they nodded in praise, looking at the fallen four Rain ninjas with disgust and indignation. Such ungrateful scum deserved to die!

"Thank you for your understanding." It was best to quell this matter without a trace. Kakashi looked at the people in the tavern and reminded them, "Everything you heard and saw today must not be leaked to anyone else. We hope for your cooperation."

"Absolutely, absolutely!"

"We understand!"

"We didn't see anything!"

The crowd nodded, indicating their understanding, and obediently sat back down. They watched as Kakashi and his three companions carried out the four Rain ninjas. The tavern owner even scurried over to personally see them to the door. The four disappeared from the tavern using the Body Flicker Technique, leaving behind money for the drinks and cleaning fees, which left the onlookers with expressions of admiration.

Pure and steadfast in their beliefs, not taking a single thread from the people – these truly were the protectors of the Land of Rain!
