Naruto: Fooling the Ninja World, I'm Hailed as a Savior

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Departures Bring Separation; Those Who Stay Suffer More Than Those Who Leave

Crunch… Crunch…

Hyuga Kawa walked slowly along the path, the howling wind and snow a constant presence.

The furious wind and snow of yesterday had finally exhausted themselves before dawn, but they had covered the ground with a thick layer of snow.

Thump! Thump!

Dull thudding sounds echoed from afar, torn apart and fragmented by the howling wind and snow.

The closer Hyuga Kawa walked, the clearer the sounds became. The paths walked by pedestrians were completely covered by white snow, only Hyuga Kawa's footprints remaining on the ground.

The entire Konoha seemed to have been washed clean overnight. But the sky was a heavy, leaden gray, stingily letting through a pale morning light that reflected on the accumulated snow, emanating a deathly chill.

Hyuga Neji stood in the center of this white, deathly silent world, still wearing his thin black mourning clothes. His childish face was expressionless as he pounded a wooden dummy in the courtyard.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Completely abandoning the finesse of Gentle Fist, he used only the most primitive and brutal force, striking out with his fists again and again. Each impact produced a bone-jarring thud.

The skin on his knuckles quickly ruptured and peeled back, fresh red blood beads oozing out and staining the wooden post, forming glaring patches of dark red.

Each swing of his fist sent tiny streaks of blood into the air, splattering onto the pristine white snow beneath his feet, like blooming, exquisite red plum blossoms.

Clearly, this boy was once again venting his inner sorrow and anger onto the silent wooden dummy through self-destructive, self-harming training.

"How pathetic."

Hyuga Kawa stood leaning against the courtyard gate, arms crossed, watching the unmoving Hyuga Neji. He chuckled, "Meaningless venting. Do you want me to hug you and say tenderly, 'Stop hitting, it's all over now'?"

Hyuga Neji's movements suddenly froze. He stood in place, slowly turning to look at him, his white eyes filled with resentment.

"What do you know?" Hyuga Neji said bitterly, his voice extremely hoarse. "You couldn't even protect my father's body. You're just a useless waste too!"

Hyuga Kawa truly couldn't muster an ounce of anger at a child's petulant words. However, if he was just going to vent his anger and resentment on a mute wooden dummy, then it truly was meaningless.

"Hyuga branch family's genius," he asked with a smile, "Do you dare to make a bet with me, this waste?"

Hyuga Neji didn't answer immediately, just silently stared at Hyuga Kawa. So, Hyuga Kawa put his hands behind his back, slightly bowed his head, and smiled at Neji. "I'll let you use both hands, Hyuga genius."

As if stimulated by his disdain and mockery, anger finally appeared on Hyuga Neji's childish, calm face. He did indeed look down on Hyuga Kawa.

From Lord Hiashi and his father, he could feel an omnipresent pressure, but from Hyuga Kawa, he felt nothing at all. Yet, this known waste of the clan brazenly declared he would let him use both hands!

"You bastard!"

As his words fell, Hyuga Neji charged towards Kawa, his attacking movements instinctively using Gentle Fist techniques. Hyuga Kawa lightly dug his toes into the accumulated snow on the ground.

As Neji raised his palm to strike, Kawa had already kicked up falling snow, sending it towards his face. In an instant, Neji felt his vision filled with blinding white, like a sudden downpour.

Hyuga Neji violently swung his left hand, shattering the obscuring snow that rushed at him, only to find Hyuga Kawa's figure had vanished from his sight. The next moment, almost instinctively, he swung his palm to strike his right side.

Thump!

Hyuga Neji had gambled correctly. His palm struck Hyuga Kawa's raised calf. The force was like waves crashing against an unmoving cliff. The snow beneath their feet scattered as Neji stumbled backward, uncontrollably dragging two trails in the snow.

"What's wrong, genius?" Hyuga Kawa lowered his leg, narrowing his eyes, and sneered, "Can't even withstand that much force?"

What's going on? It felt like the force was returned to me?

Looking at Hyuga Kawa before him, Hyuga Neji's initial dismissiveness instantly vanished, replaced by a quiet seriousness. But unfortunately, this seriousness didn't last long, because the battle ended the next moment.

Hyuga Neji's right knee felt as if it had been struck by an iron rod. He half-knelt on the ground, and before he could even get up, a knee rapidly enlarged before his eyes.

Bang! Crack!

After Hyuga Kawa stomped and buckled Hyuga Neji's right leg, he practically leaped up, delivering a vicious knee strike to Hyuga Neji's face. Amidst the sound of a breaking nose, Hyuga Neji was sent flying. Blood splattered in the air, and he landed with a dull thud, startling several clumps of snow off the eaves.

"Ugh."

In a haze of consciousness, he pressed his right hand to the ground, trying to get up, but his wrist was mercilessly stomped on.

"What a waste, only capable of self-harm. I see, you don't need this hand either." Hyuga Kawa's voice was slightly cold. "Like this, you might as well stay in your cage, a pet bird for others to admire and tease."

"No!" Hyuga Neji was instantly startled, but he couldn't pull his arm free.

"What's wrong, is being a caged bird so bad?"

Hyuga Kawa applied a little more pressure, saying coldly, "Who are you putting on this pathetic display of angry powerlessness for? It's nothing more than feeling trapped by the 'Caged Bird' seal, your inexplicably fixed destiny unchangeable, forced to be dominated by those high-and-mighty main family members."

Hyuga Neji's lips silently parted, his cracked lips oozing blood which instantly froze in the cold air. He shook his head frantically, struggling. Bullying the small, bullying a child, was of course immoral.

Unfortunately, Hyuga Kawa had no morals, so he couldn't be morally bound. He had no time to wait for Hyuga Neji to awaken on his own; he had to reignite the desire and delusion in the boy's heart.

Thud.

Hyuga Kawa suddenly lifted his foot. Hyuga Neji, unable to brace himself, fell face down into the snow.

"Destiny is a tool for tyrants to shackle minds, an excuse for fools to comfort themselves."

Hyuga Kawa looked down at the disheveled Hyuga Neji, his tone calm. "If you truly want to resist, then brutally crush their high-and-mighty arrogance underfoot. Make them taste the humiliation and despair of having their dignity and freedom played with."

"Instead of wallowing in self-pity and venting your inner bitterness with impotent rage!"

Gasp! Gasp!

Hyuga Neji struggled to roll over, his cheek pressed against the biting cold snow. He gasped for air, his white breath instantly scattered by the wind. Tears finally could no longer be held back, streaming from his eyes.

Every journey entails separation; those who stay behind suffer more deeply than those who depart. The greatest fear of death is that it brushes past us, leaving us utterly alone.
