Chapter 213: I Bet It All on the New Era!
Once again, Nami felt the crushing powerlessness of being weak. The desire for strength burned within her stronger than ever.
Uchiha Yi was satisfied—but it still wasn't enough.
He needed to push her further.
With a decision made, he stepped out of the shadows, revealing himself to everyone in Don Krieg's pirate crew.
"Amaterasu!"
"Die."
There was no need for words.
To him, these pirates were nothing but tools—and they had outlived their usefulness.
Now, it was time to eliminate them.
Everyone within his line of sight was instantly engulfed in black flames.
In the blink of an eye, an entire sea of fire consumed the area.
The sudden and terrifying scene stunned everyone into silence.
Even Don Krieg himself, a man who prided himself on dominance, began to tremble uncontrollably.
He never imagined that such a small village would hide a monster like this.
With death looming over him, Krieg's mind raced for a solution.
His eyes darted around—until they landed on Nami.
If he could take her hostage, he might just have a chance to escape.
There was no other choice.
If he did nothing, he would die for sure.
Then, he saw it.
Uchiha Yi was panting heavily, sweat dripping from his face.
He was kneeling, his body shaking.
"He's exhausted!"
A golden opportunity.
Krieg didn't hesitate.
Abandoning all pride, he lunged at Nami, his large hand grabbing for her neck.
Nami reacted instinctively, narrowly dodging him.
But her mind was a mess.
She was furious.
At herself.
She was too weak.
Now, she was a burden.
Krieg persisted, relentlessly chasing her down.
Nojiko tried to help, only to be kicked aside.
The distraction cost Nami dearly—Krieg seized his opening.
In just two seconds, it was over.
Krieg had her.
Uchiha Yi, still feigning exhaustion, was too late to react.
"HAHAHAHA!"
Krieg laughed victoriously, dragging Nami closer to him.
"Now I've got you!"
"If you want her to live, let me go!"
Uchiha Yi's expression darkened.
"Why should I trust a pirate's word?"
"Trust me or don't. I don't care."
Krieg tightened his grip around Nami's throat.
"I know you won't let me live."
"So either I walk away, or she dies with me!"
Uchiha Yi frowned, as if he was struggling with a decision.
"Fine," he said at last. "I'll let you go."
"But if you break your word, I will hunt you to the ends of the earth."
Krieg smirked.
"That's more like it."
From behind him, Nami shook with frustration.
Tears welled up in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Yi…"
She felt ashamed.
She couldn't even protect her own village—and now, she was a hostage.
She was dragging everyone down.
"HAHAHAHA!"
Krieg's confidence returned.
"See, kid? Power means nothing if you're too scared to use it!"
"Now, stay back!"
Uchiha Yi took a step back.
Krieg, satisfied, began retreating toward the shore with Nami.
He sent a signal flare, summoning his waiting ships.
Within moments, Krieg boarded his vessel, still holding Nami captive.
As the ship set sail, Krieg grinned at the figure standing on the shore.
"HAHAHA!"
"You really trusted me, kid?"
"Never trust a pirate!"
His grip tightened around Nami's throat.
She gasped for air, struggling weakly.
Krieg lifted her high over the ship's railing.
"Let's see if you can swim, little girl!"
And then—he threw her into the ocean.
Nami splashed into the sea, thrashing helplessly.
A shadow loomed overhead.
A massive Sea King was already circling her.
"HAHAHAHA!"
Krieg laughed, sailing away without looking back.
It was done.
Nami's fate was sealed.
No one could reach her in time.
She swam desperately, but the Sea King was too fast.
It leapt from the water, jaws wide to devour her whole.
Then—everything stopped.
She felt warm arms wrap around her.
A splash erupted beside her.
And in the next instant—
"SCRAM!"
A roar shook the air, sending the Sea King fleeing in terror.
She looked up—it was him.
Uchiha Yi.
He had saved her.
Relief washed over her—until she noticed something horrifying.
"Yi…"
"Your arm…"
It was gone.
A bloody stump was all that remained.
Tears spilled from her eyes.
"It's my fault…"
"I was weak… and now you… you…"
Her body shook with sobs.
Yi smiled gently.
"It's just an arm."
He patted her head with his remaining hand.
"I bet it all… on the New Era."
