Chapter 129: Chapter 127: Departure
Chapter 127: Departure
The death of Uchiha Obito was entirely the result of Baishi's calculated machinations.
Only someone with foresight, extensive intelligence, and extraordinary methods could have accomplished such a feat. Otherwise, eliminating Obito would have been nearly impossible.
With this troublesome adversary out of the way, there was no need for Baishi to linger any longer.
However, there was one last task he needed to complete before leaving.
---
Inside the battlefield at Konoha.
Baishi, now in his spiritual form, exited Obito's body undetected and slipped into the form of a nearby Root ninja.
This particular Root ninja was one of Baishi's secret operatives, a planted "seed."
Previously, it was through this operative that Baishi had leaked information about the situation to Danzo, and it was also through his coordination with other Root members that they had obstructed Minato's movements, allowing Danzo to land the killing blow.
The operative was stationed just a short distance from Obito's lifeless body.
Baishi's spiritual form merged into the ninja's mind and, through the Seed of Control, took full possession of his body.
Without hesitation, Baishi moved toward Obito's body.
However, Minato was quick to react.
A volley of kunai soared through the air, aimed at Baishi's throat, heart, and stomach.
Sensing the incoming danger, Baishi slightly tilted the possessed body to avoid the kunai aimed at the throat. The remaining two kunai pierced the heart and stomach.
Despite these fatal blows, Baishi didn't falter. This body wasn't his, so as long as it could hold together for a little longer, it would serve its purpose.
Ignoring the wounds, Baishi reached Obito's body.
Danzo, slower to react than Minato, moved toward Baishi as well. With a flick of his wrist, Danzo pulled his bloodied kunai from Obito's chest and swung it toward Baishi's neck.
Even with a blade so close, Baishi smirked faintly at Danzo, grabbed Obito's body, and activated Flying Thunder God Technique.
---
Outside Konoha – Underground Hideout.
The possessed Root ninja and Obito's body materialized in Baishi's underground chamber.
Coughing slightly from the fatal wounds in his borrowed body, Baishi wasted no time. He dropped Obito's corpse to the floor and detached his spiritual form.
His translucent spiritual essence exited the ninja's body and returned to his own resting form.
With a deep breath, Baishi opened his eyes, fully regaining his senses.
"Nothing feels quite like your own body," Baishi muttered, rolling his shoulders before he glanced at the corpse.
Reaching out to grab Obito's body, Baishi once again activated the Flying Thunder God Technique.
---
Three Days Later – Wind Country, Western Border.
Baishi stood inside the familiar mountain cave, staring at two dark glass jars containing Obito's Mangekyo Sharingan.
His expression was one of mild disappointment.
The Mangekyo Sharingan that once brought fear to many had little value to him.
Initially, Baishi had hoped to repurpose the eyes into a storage device. Obito's Kamui ability allowed items to be transported to a separate dimension, which seemed perfect for creating a portable storage space.
However, after extensive experimentation, Baishi discovered that the Kamui dimension could only be accessed through the transplanted eyes.
For Baishi, transplanting the Mangekyo Sharingan was unacceptable.
Even though his chakra reserves were vast enough to sustain the eyes and their abilities without issue, his body had its own potential for infinite evolution. Why compromise that with someone else's bloodline limit?
The Sharingan's visual prowess?
His Enhanced Five Senses would naturally evolve to achieve similar capabilities.
Kamui's space-warping ability?
His mastery of the Flying Thunder God Technique rendered Kamui redundant. As for its phasing ability, Baishi believed that as his physical strength continued to improve, he would eventually become immune to most forms of attack.
And finally, the Susanoo?
With his advancing Wood Release, Baishi was confident he could overpower Susanoo in direct combat.
The conclusion was clear: Obito's Mangekyo Sharingan had no real utility for him.
Looking at the jars one last time, Baishi murmured, "Well, at least they might come in handy for research later."
Satisfied, Baishi placed the jars securely in a hidden compartment.

Elsewhere – Black Zetsu's Movements.
In another part of the world, Black Zetsu was anything but calm.
Having learned of Obito's untimely demise, his suppressed fury threatened to boil over. Obito was supposed to be a key player in Black Zetsu's millennium-long plan.
Black Zetsu's investigations eventually led him to the underground chamber where Obito's death had transpired.
Spotting the remains of the Root ninja that Baishi had possessed, Black Zetsu's frustration boiled over. With a single movement, he shredded the corpse into pieces.
"Can we still sense the spores left in Obito's body?" Black Zetsu asked, his tone cold and calculated.
White Zetsu's voice responded hesitantly, "We can sense it faintly, but the distance is too far. We only have a general direction."
"That will do."
Black Zetsu disappeared into the earth, using his unique Mayfly Technique to travel rapidly through underground roots and water channels.
Though Obito was gone, Black Zetsu refused to let go of his grand plan.
---
Having successfully taken Obito's body and thwarted Danzo's ambitions, Baishi prepared for the next stage of his journey.
Unbeknownst to him, Black Zetsu was already on his trail, determined to recover what remained of his fallen pawn.
