Naruto: Eating A Devil Fruit In The World Of Shinobi

Chapter 69: Chapter 69: News Of Root's Demise.

One was disappointment in the top leaders like Hiruzen Sarutobi, and the other was fear—that he might lose control and act on impulse.

Kaito sighed, turned around, and followed. "Forget it. Just take it as something I owed you in a past life... for being stuck with a teacher like you."

---

Just as Kaito arrived at Tansho Street, word of the Root's destruction had already been quietly relayed to the major ninja villages by spies embedded within Konoha.

---

Kumogakure

The hot-tempered Fourth Raikage let out a derisive snort after reading the intelligence report.

"Red Lightning Kekkei Genkai? Hiruzen's doing again, huh? Another genius pushed out. At this rate, they're making our job easier when it's finally time to strike Konoha."

"Lord Raikage, do you think this boy with the Red Lightning is connected to the one who appeared during the Third Great Ninja War?" a man dressed in a gray secretary uniform asked calmly.

"Otherwise, with the connection between Hiruzen and Danzo, it wouldn't make sense to exile someone so easily—especially if that person was Tsunade's student," he added.

"Who knows. If the kid is related to him."

Lightning crackled in the Raikage's eyes. Rage twisted his features as he clenched a fist—

Crack!

The desk beneath him shattered into splinters.

"He humiliated me, Killer Bee, and the entire Land of Lightning during the war."

"Lord Raikage," Mabui said calmly, "we may not need to act. Others may be even more desperate than we are."

"You're right... that old fossil Onoki," the Fourth Raikage sneered. "Let's wait. See how he reacts."

"Yes, sir."

---

Iwagakure

Onoki slammed the report down on his desk.

He would never forget the mysterious man from the Third Great Ninja War who annihilated more than half of Iwagakure's elite forces with devastating Lightning Release.

Afterward, the man vanished—taking with him countless lives, including Onoki's own candidate for Fourth Tsuchikage.

So many years had passed, and now... someone with the same technique had reappeared. Whether related or not, Onoki wasn't about to let it slide.

"If anyone's to blame... it's that he's from Konoha. If anyone's to blame, it's that he has the same Kekkei Genkai! This threat must be eliminated!" he spat, hatred contorting his features.

"Father, that was over a decade ago," Huangtu, Kurotsuchi's father, said with a frown. "It's not worth it. We finally have peace. If you go after him, you might start another war."

"What do you take me for? Some warmongering relic?" Onoki asked slyly.

"Then what are you planning, old man?" Huangtu asked cautiously.

"Place a bounty on him. 100 million Ryo for his head."

Kitsuchi paused. "…Is this what people mean when they say old age brings cunning?"

"Got it, Father. I'll take care of it."

---

Sunagakure

The Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, laid the report flat on his desk with a heavy sigh.

"Konoha's brimming with talent... yet they keep making the dumbest decisions. Another young genius, driven out."

"What a waste. Why don't we ever get talent like that?"

He paused. Then, his gaze narrowed.

"Maybe… it's time to cooperate with Orochimaru's plan."

---

Kirigakure

The Fourth Mizukage, Mei Terumi, stood tall and poised, a half-smile blossoming like spring on her lips as she read the report.

"Lightning Release Kekkei Genkai? Seriously? Konoha never learns."

"Well… not really my concern. They can keep shooting themselves in the foot."

She stretched, her graceful silhouette illuminated by flickering candlelight.

Beside her, Chojuro blushed fiercely and averted his gaze.

"That bastard... all these years and still no sign of him. Is he really dead? Or just hiding?"

She muttered softly, fingers gently brushing her forehead, her red lips curving into a mischievous smirk. After a moment, a knowing smile bloomed.

There, on her forehead, was a diamond-shaped mark—the Yin Seal. The very technique Tsunade once pioneered.

If Tsunade were here, she would have been shocked to see her secret technique perfectly reproduced.

---

Meanwhile, Kaito—unaware of the storm he had stirred—was simply drinking with Tsunade.

Well, Tsunade was drinking. Kaito just sat and watched.

Her gambling was atrocious, and her drinking wasn't much better. After a dozen bottles, she was slumped over the table, out cold.

"No one drinks this much and stays alive," Kaito muttered, shaking his head.

He signaled the bartender, paid the bill, then carefully lifted Tsunade onto his back and carried her home.
