Naruto: Born Evil?

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Inabi's Eyes

"Tens of thousands of pursuers…"

Kabuto glanced at Nonoyu with a questioning look. "Director?"

As an exceptional intelligence ninja, he was naturally aware of the situation in the ninja world. Kabuto knew Kusaba wasn't lying.

Countless factions across the ninja world coveted the Sharingan. For this battle at the Valley of Judgment, many rogue ninja organizations had mobilized almost all their forces.

Kabuto was also curious—how had the rogue Uchiha managed to break through the Valley of Judgment under such a massive siege?

Nonoyu responded in a low voice:

"Yes. Before reaching the Valley of Judgment, there were indeed countless enemies surrounding us, just as he said. But they were all buried in that valley."

"All of them died!"

Kabuto's pupils trembled violently. He looked up in disbelief at the giant burning with orange-red flames.

If this was the power they relied on...

Then maybe they really could do it. Was this the confidence behind the Uchiha's defection from Konoha?

After hearing Nonoyu's answer, Kusaba stared at the approaching orange-red Susanoo and roared furiously: "What kind of sick joke is that? All of them died?!"

He had already found it unbelievable when his subordinates reported that every last Grass ninja had been wiped out. Now Nonoyu's words made it feel downright surreal.

Nearly ten thousand ninja had been part of the encirclement!

How could they have been utterly defeated?!

But Kusaba's only reply came from the Totsuka Blade swinging toward him.

"Damn it!" Staring into the blazing flames, Kusaba wasn't intimidated by the towering Susanoo. He quickly formed hand signs. "Earth Style: Earth Dragon Concealment!"

Swoosh—

The Totsuka Blade swept across where Kusaba had stood. Flames engulfed the remaining Grass ninja, and with screams echoing, they were absorbed and sealed.

As for Kusaba, after casting Earth Style, the ground beneath him turned to sand, and he sank into it, vanishing.

Inside the orange-red Susanoo…

Uchiha Yu's Mangekyō Sharingan—Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi—swept across the ground. His lips curled into a smirk as he shook his head.

"What a good opportunity."

Kusaba hadn't fled after going underground. Instead, he chose to launch a counterattack.

He circled around to the slow-moving giant's back and leapt from the earth like a cheetah, swift and deadly.

"RAAHHH—!"

Kusaba roared, gripping a kunai tightly in his right hand, aiming directly at Uchiha Yu within the Susanoo's armor.

Yu ignored the familiar tactic.

"Captain, be careful! That's his shadow clone—his real body is—!"

Nonoyu's voice cried out in alarm as her Byakugan flared.

Before she could finish her warning, the Totsuka Blade held in Susanoo's right hand stabbed fiercely into the ground beneath the ruins.

Her Byakugan quivered—Yu had already ended the fight.

Clang—

The kunai in Kusaba's shadow clone's hand struck Susanoo's armor and shattered to dust.

Meanwhile, Kusaba's real body hidden beneath the rubble had been skewered along with the earth by the Totsuka Blade.

"Ugh…"

Kusaba's eyes were blank with despair. He had planned to use the shadow clone to distract Yu and then escape.

What haunted him most was that in his efforts to eliminate the Uchiha, he had sent all the dissenting Grass ninja out of the village long ago.

Inadvertently, he'd saved the other faction of Grass ninja.

He was filled with bitter regret!!

BOOM—

The dust settled.

Kusaba's shadow clone crumbled into ash, while his real body was absorbed and sealed by the Totsuka Blade—becoming one of Uchiha Yu's backup chakra sources.

"Itachi's Susanoo is really useful."

Yu couldn't help but praise it in his heart. He then channeled his Yin chakra into the Totsuka Blade and observed the Illusionary Sealing World.

Within that empty domain stood a thousand or so Grass ninja—eyes shut, faces blank, bodies swaying, trapped in an eternal illusion.

This was his reserve power.

The orange-red Susanoo slowly shed its Karasu-Tengu armor, revealing a skeletal frame of chakra, and then dissolved into the air.

Once it vanished—

Gulp—

Yu downed a bottle of green medicine to counteract the damage from maintaining Susanoo, then turned and instructed his fellow Uchiha:

"Within thirty minutes, find the Grass Village's treasury and where they store their jutsu scrolls. Take anything of value."

"Yes, sir—!"

The Uchiha immediately began searching the ruins—except for Tamayo, who walked off toward the outskirts of the village.

"Where are you going? We don't have time, start searching!" Minami asked.

Tamao replied with a serious look:

"I am going to search."

"Search for what?"

"I'm going to find you all some wives."

Minami rubbed his temple, frowning. "What do you mean wives?"

Tamao sighed.

"This village is too damn poor. Barely any decent-looking kunoichi here at all.

I'm planning to check the nearby towns.

If I find any beautiful women, I'll convince them to join the Uchiha."

"…" Minami was completely speechless.

Letting Tamao go on his own.

At the edge of the ruins—

Uzumaki Kana looked anxiously at the wreckage of the Grass Village. After a moment of hesitation, she finally gathered her courage and looked at Yu:

"I know... where the treasury of Grass Village is."

---

Evening fell.

Night descended.

Grass Village lay scorched by war, and the ordinary civilians in the outlying towns had long since fled.

Orochimaru stood atop his summoned giant snake, gazing over the devastated village and couldn't help but sigh:

"From the former land of the Earth Spider Clan, to the Valley of Judgment, and now Grass Village—wherever Yu passes, not a single place is left intact."

"…"

Tsunade and Shizune stared into the billowing black smoke, each lost in their thoughts.

"They're back—and fully loaded."

Orochimaru's eyes lit up.

At the village gates, the Uchiha emerged carrying boxes of supplies.

Minutes later, they leapt from the serpent's tail to its head, returning to Orochimaru.

CLANG—CLANG—CLANG—

The supplies were neatly arranged before him. Uchiha Yu stepped out from behind with the uneasy Kana and little Karin.

The Uchiha, all smiles, began organizing the loot under Izumi's lead. Nonoyu and Kabuto joined in.

"Can you still contact other surviving members of the Uzumaki Clan?" Yu asked Kana seriously.

Along the way, he had revealed his intentions to Kana, who had agreed to follow the Uchiha with her daughter.

Grass Village had fallen.

They had no choice.

Through conversation, Yu learned that after the fall of the Land of Whirlpools, the Uzumaki clan had scattered to avoid extermination. There were only about a hundred or so survivors scattered across the ninja world.

"I can," Kana replied truthfully. Having witnessed Yu's power, she understood all too well that for the Uzumaki clan to rise again, they'd need the backing of someone like him.

Yu thought for a moment and said:

"Try contacting the other Uzumaki survivors. Tell them the Uchiha are establishing a new Hidden Leaf Village. Ask if they want to join.

If they do, have them go to the Land of Fields, to the Hidden Sound Village. Someone will receive them there."

"Understood."

Kana nodded firmly.

"…"

Orochimaru observed the Uzumaki mother and daughter, and after listening to their conversation, he suddenly felt a strong desire.

The two of them alone meant little to him—but the remaining Uzumaki clan? Their value was immeasurable.

His eyes swept over the crates of supplies resting on the serpent's scales. Then he looked at Yu and asked,

"So, are we heading to the Land of Fields now?"

Yu glanced at Mei Terumī and Ao, who had followed along, and thought for a moment.

He replied:

"Next, I want you to settle the Uzumaki that arrive at the Hidden Sound Village.

Also, send someone to inform Yūhi Kurenai in the refugee town in the Land of Earth. Tell her to lead the Earth Spider Clan to the Hidden Sound.

Once those things are done—

Along with the debt I already owe you, I'll pay you with a pair of Sharingan.

I'll lead a team to Kirigakure.

Once I return, I'll take them away.

Make sure you've learned Shinno's latest movements before I come back."

Mei and Ao's expressions subtly shifted, pleased by how decisive Yu was.

Since he was willing to return with them, the issue of the Fourth Mizukage would likely be resolved.

"No problem! Any friend of Yu's is a friend of mine. I'll make sure they're well cared for!"

Orochimaru smiled.

Oddly, knowing Yu wouldn't be going to the Hidden Sound Village himself left Orochimaru somewhat... relieved.

RUMBLE—

The giant summoning snake carried everyone toward the east. Its massive body stirred up waves of dust, disappearing into the horizon, level with the setting sun.

---

Kamui Dimension.

Dark and silent.

Countless stone slabs moved in chaotic directions—up, down, side to side. Itachi lay pale-faced, blood at the corners of his eyes, unconscious on one of the cold slabs.

Obito sat beside him.

To avoid being tracked by Yu's mental imprint, Obito had hidden himself and Itachi in the Kamui space for nearly a full day.

As time passed, Obito assumed the outside world had calmed down. He glanced at the barely alive Itachi and said in a low voice:

"Remember this feeling of defeat. I saved you because I believe you still have untapped potential. Grow with this hatred in your heart.

One day, we'll fight together again."

As he spoke—

Obito reached for Itachi's ninja tool pouch. Itachi tried to stop him, but was too slow.

Obito pulled out a sealed scroll, unsealed it, and retrieved a single three-tomoe Sharingan.

"This is Inabi's eye, right? Shame it's only one. It really feels like a handout from Yu."

"…" Itachi said nothing.

Having lost both his own and Shisui's Mangekyō, he had planned to use Inabi's Sharingan next.

Yet this "ally" had even taken his last one!

Obito stored the Sharingan and gave Itachi a cold glance.

"Out of respect for our alliance, I'll send you off one last time. Whether you survive depends on how much you hate Yu."

Valley of Judgment.

The rear camp of Konoha's northwest ninja forces—space suddenly warped, and Itachi was thrown out, crashing hard into the muddy ground.

At that moment—

Inside and outside the valley, the Iwagakure forces were confronting Konoha's northwest border defense units—tension crackling in the air.

If either side moved first—

The balance of the ninja world would be broken again.

And perhaps…

This would be the spark that ignited the Fourth Great Ninja War.
