Naruto : Behind The Scenes Big Boss System

Chapter 69: The Beginning of the Plot (2/4)

"Deception for sudden strikes, splitting forces to intercept, cutting off supplies as leverage, sacrificing the small for the big, risking it all with a decisive blow, forming alliances afar while attacking close enemies, trapping foes in quagmires—do you understand any of this?"

In the Uchiha clan's territory, within Uchiha Gen's courtyard, Gen sat cross-legged at a desk, gesturing grandly over a map spread out before him.

Uchiha Madara stared at the map, his face blank with confusion, as if the words "sounds impressive but I don't get it" were written all over his face.

"I figured as much," Gen said smugly, taking a sip of tea as he basked in his success at bewildering the future main antagonist of the series.

Madara turned his head away in embarrassment and muttered, "Could you explain it more simply? What does it actually mean?"

"In simple terms, this time the Hyuga clan is going to suffer a huge loss. Not just them, but even the Senju will be affected. The Wind River Valley will likely be reclaimed, but the Kaguya clan is doomed."

The two of them had been sparring and chatting regularly these days. After training, they'd sit down for tea and discuss topics ranging from ninja techniques and missions to the history of the Warring States era. Today, their conversation turned to the war against the Hyuga clan, sparking a debate that left Madara feeling thoroughly defeated.

"Why the Kaguya clan? They're powerful, and their kekkei genkai is top-tier. Besides, their fighters are practically berserkers on the battlefield. Why do you think they're doomed?"

"When two tigers fight to the death, the last thing they need is a pack of wolves circling around. Especially when the tigers are at their fiercest, any wolf that leaps in is simply courting death. The Senju won't take this lying down. Let's just hope the Kaguya won't suffer too much."

Gen sipped his tea calmly. He remembered in the original story that the Kaguya clan, once a prominent family in the Land of Water, had been reduced to a single survivor, Kimimaro. Currently, they were still a powerful clan in the Land of Fire. Either they'd be pushed to the coast during this conflict or face their demise at the hands of Senju Hashirama in the future.

While Gen and Madara led their peaceful, somewhat playful lives, events on the battlefield were escalating rapidly.

After six months of sustained conflict, the Hyuga siege abruptly ended. In a single day, the Uchiha forces withdrew and redirected their attention to the Senju's Wind River Valley outpost. When Senju Rōma and Senju Unma spotted the advancing Uchiha army, their expressions turned grim. Soon, Uchiha Tajima, Uchiha Buren, and Uchiha Dō—three Kage-level warriors—combined their strength. The Senju were utterly overwhelmed, suffering a humiliating defeat as they retreated in disarray. The Uchiha pursued them relentlessly, reclaiming the Wind River Valley and restoring the previous standoff between the clans.

Meanwhile, the Hyuga clan announced they would isolate themselves for a decade to recover from their losses. They ceded their lifeline, the Shin'ō Copper Mine, to the Uchiha, leaving them severely weakened.

When Senju Butsuma received news of these developments, he was so enraged he nearly spat blood. Although he desperately wanted to retaliate against the Uchiha, he held back and redirected his fury toward the Kaguya clan. The unexpected actions of the Kaguya had set off a chain of events leading to this outcome.

The Senju clan, known for their relatively moderate stance during the Warring States period, revealed their true might when provoked. They pursued the Kaguya relentlessly, driving them into retreat. Even after the Kaguya withdrew to their own territory, the Senju forces pressed the attack, seizing a third of their lands and causing devastating losses. The Kaguya's leader lamented the heavy casualties, especially among their elite ninja, though they found some solace in acquiring a promised copper mine from the Uchiha.

Thus, the chaotic three-way battle came to an end. The Uchiha emerged victorious, teaching the Hyuga a harsh lesson and reclaiming the Wind River Valley. While they abandoned their northern and southern defensive lines, leaving those areas vulnerable to opportunistic clans, they planned to deal with the intruders later, confident in their reputation and strength.

The Senju, though angered and frustrated by the turn of events, managed to maintain their territory. Ultimately, the situation reverted to the status quo, but the sense of humiliation lingered.

The Kaguya, however, suffered the most devastating defeat. Despite obtaining a valuable copper mine, they lost significant territory and manpower, setting back their ambitions.

The Hyuga, on the other hand, were utterly devastated. With heavy casualties and the loss of their key economic resource, they had no choice but to retreat into isolation, much like the Chinoike clan had done twenty years earlier.

Back at the Uchiha territory, Gen stood in his loft, quietly observing the fallout. Though still a child, he lacked the qualifications to participate in such large-scale power struggles. For now, he was simply considered a talented prodigy. But he believed that one day, he would shed the "genius" label and become a true powerhouse.

The points from his previous mission totaled 20,000, but he didn't exchange them for any jutsu or ocular abilities. Instead, he saved them, aiming to unlock the Mangekyō Sharingan. The requirement was 100,000 points—he still needed 80,000 more.

As the war-torn era briefly settled into an uneasy calm, Gen maintained his daily training routine. Within three months, he had mastered the Rasengan and developed the technique into the Ōdama Rasengan. His proficiency with the Flying Thunder God Technique also improved, though he had yet to achieve the second stage. While tempted to experiment with Kamui, the technique's exorbitant point cost made him hesitate.

Time passed quickly. As the New Year approached, the Uchiha clan began preparing festive decorations. Gen's young maid busily made arrangements—sewing new clothes, making rice cakes, and decorating the house with offerings for the gods, hoping to bring peace to their lives.

Gen watched these preparations with a warm smile. Five years had passed since he arrived in this world. Unlike previous years, when he spent the New Year alone, the maid's diligent efforts brought a newfound sense of home and warmth to his life.

On New Year's Day, dressed in their festive attire, Gen and the maid strolled through the bustling streets. The joy of the Uchiha clanspeople was infectious, lifting Gen's spirits as well.

As the night sky lit up with fiery displays created by fire-style jutsu, the Uchiha celebrated with unmatched fervor, praising the gods, their land, and their clan. It was a night of revelry and unity—a night of dragon dances and fireworks.

---

With the New Year behind him, Gen realized he had turned six. Shortly after, his young maid reached the level of a genin. Encouraging her to continue improving, Gen returned to his training.

Yet, something unusual occurred. Uchiha Madara, who often visited for sparring and meals, suddenly stopped showing up. Feeling curious, Gen sent his maid to investigate.

The news she brought back shocked him so much that the tea cup in his hand shattered on the floor.

Uchiha Madara… recently…
