Chapter 62: Triple Rasengan
Chakra threads are an intriguing concept. Normally, they are extremely thin and soft, akin to fishing lines in Gen's previous life. However, once infused with chakra, they become exceptionally tough and nearly impossible to break.
Gen had been using the Flying Thunder God Technique to move around constantly, primarily to lay down these chakra threads. Without chakra, these threads hung loosely to the ground or entwined around tree branches, making them incredibly hard to notice. Coupled with Gen's frequent skirmishes with the three Jonin to divert their attention, it became even less likely for them to detect the trap.
At this moment, as Gen pulled all the scattered chakra threads tight, the entire area marked by the Flying Thunder God Technique transformed into a giant spiderweb, leaving no room for escape. The three Jonin found themselves completely trapped.
Despite their formidable strength, the chakra threads could only hold the Jonin for two seconds at most. But for Gen, those two seconds were all he needed.
Yemu Kichikawa swung his blade, cutting through a large section of the threads. Just as he prepared for another strike, he suddenly felt an immense heaviness settle over him. A moment later, he realized it wasn't just his body—it was the entire surrounding space. The air distorted as he looked up to see Gen's Sharingan spinning wildly. The three tomoe in his left eye merged into a triangular pinwheel shape.
"Kamui!"
With a chilling tone, the two words escaped Gen's lips.
Before Yemu Kichikawa could comprehend what was happening, excruciating pain coursed through his body. "Is this... my limbs? My body is... shattering?"
The devastating power of spatial distortion erupted, twisting the area where the three Jonin stood into nothingness. Moments later, the space returned to normal, leaving behind only emptiness.
---
Pant... pant...
Gen clutched his left eye and knelt, gasping for breath. A sharp pain radiated from his Mangekyō Sharingan, gradually subsiding after a while. When he reopened his eyes, the world seemed noticeably blurrier.
"The cost is huge."
Sitting cross-legged to recover his chakra, Gen muttered to himself, "Still no notification of their deaths..."
He opened the system interface in his mind and checked his points. It clearly displayed 21,000, confirming that he had indeed gained points for defeating the three Jonin. Only then did he relax.
"But why hasn't the mission progress updated?"
He checked the mission tab and found that it still didn't show as completed.
"Do I really need to kill that elite Jonin for it to count?" he grumbled. Sensing the location of his Flying Thunder God kunai, he intended to teleport but quickly realized his situation. The chakra drain from Kamui was too severe; his reserves were far from recovered, and his left Sharingan felt exhausted, making even basic vision a struggle. In this condition, going into another fight would be suicide.
"Hey, system, can you restore my chakra?"
"Restoring chakra costs 1,000 points. Confirm restoration?" the system's calm voice responded.
"So greedy. Restoring chakra costs as much as a B-rank jutsu... fine, yes."
A warm surge of energy spread through his body, instantly replenishing his depleted chakra. He felt reinvigorated, though his left eye remained blurry.
"I've used Kamui twice now—once for testing, and once just now. If my calculations are correct, using Mangekyō techniques three times with a three-tomoe eye will likely result in blindness. Last time, it took a full day to recover my vision. I can't afford to waste that much time now."
After some deliberation, he made up his mind. "System, restore my Sharingan's eyesight."
"Restoring Sharingan eyesight costs 10,000 points. Confirm restoration?"
"Yes," Gen replied, gritting his teeth.
Another wave of warmth enveloped his left eye. A moment later, all discomfort disappeared, and his vision was even sharper than before he used Kamui.
But when he saw that his remaining points had dropped to 10,000, he couldn't help but chuckle bitterly. Easy come, easy go.
After optimizing his condition, Gen closed his eyes and focused on the kunai he had given to Madara. Locking onto its position, he activated Flying Thunder God and vanished instantly.
---
When Gen reappeared, Uchiha Madara was locked in combat with Hyūga Akikaze. His sudden arrival startled both of them, who quickly separated, readying themselves for a potential three-way clash.
Surveying the scene, Gen noticed that Madara was in slightly better shape compared to his last battle against a Hyūga Jonin. Though his body was covered in wounds, with blood staining him like a crimson cloak, his spirit remained fierce and unyielding.
"How long have you been fighting?" Gen asked.
"Not long—about five minutes. Why?"
Gen raised an eyebrow in surprise and smirked. "Nothing. You're pretty good at running, huh?"
He said this because, while he had spent nearly twenty minutes setting up his trap for the three Jonin, Madara had only been fighting for five minutes. This meant Madara had likely spent the other fifteen minutes running away before being cornered—a testament to his evasive skills.
"That doesn't sound like a compliment," Madara replied with a sly grin, his eyes never leaving Akikaze.
"That's the time-space ninjutsu the princess mentioned, isn't it?" Akikaze muttered under his breath, then spoke coldly. "Where are the other three?"
Gen smiled faintly. "The three of them? If you go to another dimension, you might see them."
"You killed them?" Akikaze's face turned pale with shock. The idea of three Jonin falling to a single Uchiha child seemed utterly impossible.
"Perfect timing!"
While Akikaze was momentarily distracted, Madara launched himself forward, his blade flashing as he clashed fiercely with the Hyūga elite.
Gen couldn't remain idle in this renewed battle. Three kunai flew from his hand toward Akikaze, their trajectories sharp and unpredictable.
"Hmph!"
With a cold snort, Akikaze struck with his blade, knocking Madara back while simultaneously deflecting the kunai.
"Rasengan!"
Gen appeared suddenly, a spinning ball of chakra in his hand, aiming for Akikaze.
Akikaze reacted swiftly, striking with his left hand and dispersing Gen's figure into a puff of white smoke.
"A shadow clone?!" Akikaze muttered in confusion, having never encountered such a technique before.
"Rasengan!"
Gen reappeared in the exact same spot, repeating his attack. Akikaze slashed at him again, dispelling yet another clone.
"Rasengan!"
For the third time, Gen appeared with another clone in the same position, executing the same move. Akikaze's patience snapped. With a surge of chakra, he unleashed a powerful strike, dispersing the clone and even scattering the kunai around him.
"That's so cheap," Madara remarked, standing beside Gen.
Gen smirked. "I just came up with it. Annoying, isn't it?"
