Chapter 49: Kamui
"The Twelve Divine Consorts quest?"
Gen silently opened the system interface, finding the task section at the top. The main quest read: "Become the ultimate boss of this world and unify it. Reward: Ownership of the Naruto world! Quest duration: Until the storyline ends. Quest failure: Eradication!"
Below the main quest was a smaller line: "Side quest: Assemble the Twelve Divine Consorts and activate the item, Divine Consort Contracts. Quest duration: Same as the main quest. Quest failure: Eradication!"
Next to the task, a stack of paper-like items appeared, exactly twelve in number.
"So these are the Divine Consort Contracts... But how do I bring them out?"
As Gen thought about it, his hand suddenly felt heavier. A stack of soft, flexible papers materialized. Though they looked like paper, their texture and durability were far superior.
Examining one, he noticed unfamiliar script that resembled the symbols used in his Flying Thunder God Technique. Though unreadable, the meaning behind the text naturally appeared in his mind:
"This is an advanced master-servant contract usable only on women. Once a woman signs her name at the end, she becomes the property of the contract holder. The master can command her to do anything, but her original thoughts and personality remain unchanged.
For example, if she secretly harbors hatred toward the master, the hatred will persist. However, she will still be unable to disobey orders or harm the master.
Note: The contract only works if the woman signs willingly. Use it wisely."
"What a treasure," Gen thought, his heart racing. Imagining legendary characters like Tsunade, Mei Terumi, or Hinata signing this contract stirred his excitement.
"The only downside is that it requires the woman's consent. Who would willingly become a slave? That's going to be tricky."
After some thought, Gen carefully stored the contracts. He frowned slightly. "Carrying these contracts around is risky. If they get destroyed during a battle, that would be disastrous."
He then turned his thoughts to his equipment: "I already carry a lot of kunai for the Flying Thunder God technique. Even though I use small ninja tool scrolls on my wrist, they only hold about a hundred kunai. If I ever go to the battlefield, that won't be enough.
"And my sword, Amatsu Kumo—lugging it around every day is inconvenient. If only I had a personal storage space. In the original story, the only one with such a thing was Obito with his Kamui intangibility. My system points are enough, but since I already have Flying Thunder God, I don't urgently need Kamui."
After some hesitation, he asked, "System, is there something like a spatial bag I can use?"
After a pause, the system replied: "Mangekyō Sharingan technique: Kamui. Comes with a personal space. Requires 10,000 points if Mangekyō is unlocked; otherwise, 5,000 additional points for a forced exchange. Points sufficient. Proceed?"
"Absolutely not!" Gen exclaimed internally. "I worked hard to earn those 10,000 points. I'm not spending them all on Kamui!"
Still unwilling to give up, he asked, "Is there any other way to get personal storage?"
The system responded: "Flying Thunder God detected. 5,000 points can be used to create a personal spatial pocket. The size depends on the user's strength."
"Such a rip-off..." Gen thought, gritting his teeth. While it pained him to spend half his points, the convenience of a personal space was too tempting to pass up. "Fine. Create the personal space!"
A wave of warmth coursed through his body. A moment later, Gen felt a strange connection to a new dimension beside him. With a thought, a small spatial rift opened. Inside, the space was about three square meters, devoid of air or time flow. It was unsuitable for living things but perfect for storing items.
"Not bad," he muttered, storing the contracts, kunai, shuriken, and explosive tags. With another thought, the rift closed.
"Finally, it's time to unlock a Mangekyō technique. I've been waiting for this!"
The Mangekyō Sharingan's abilities in the original story were legendary, offering unparalleled power boosts. Opening the system's exchange interface, Gen browsed the Mangekyō techniques: Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, Kagutsuchi, Kotoamatsukami, Kamui...
Seeing the list, Gen's eyes burned with desire. "I want them all... but I only have enough points for one. How frustrating."
After deliberating, he dismissed several options:
Amaterasu was powerful but too straightforward and lacked versatility against strong opponents.
Tsukuyomi required close-range eye contact, which he couldn't reliably pull off.
Kagutsuchi was pointless without Amaterasu.
Kotoamatsukami, though immensely powerful, had a ten-year cooldown, making it a one-time use ability for now.
That left Kamui, a technique known for its spatial manipulation and deadly power. Its versatility was unmatched, capable of both offense and escape. "With Kamui, I can finally have a truly devastating attack."
"System, exchange Kamui."
"Kamui. Mangekyō Sharingan technique. S-rank. Requires 10,000 points if Mangekyō is unlocked; 15,000 for forced exchange. Points sufficient. Proceed?"
"Yes!"
As Gen's points dropped to zero, a searing heat surged into his left eye. The pain was intense but brief. When it subsided, his Sharingan's three tomoe spun wildly before merging into the Mangekyō pattern of Kamui.
Opening his eyes, Gen felt the newfound power coursing through him. His left eye shimmered ominously with the enhanced Sharingan. He grinned. "I'm probably the first ninja in history to use Mangekyō techniques with only three tomoe. Let's see who dares challenge me now."
