The ninja hierarchy in this world was slightly different from what Xuan had known in his previous life—or rather, it was the same, but here it was more detailed.

For example, in the understanding Xuan had of the Naruto world, the ranks were Genin, Chunin, Special Jonin, Jonin, and Kage-level.

Here, however, it was divided further: Genin, Chunin, Special Jonin, Jonin, Elite Jonin, Peak Jonin, and the Clan Leader tier, which represented the strongest figures in the great clans.

In this era, the Jonin rank was subdivided into three stages.

When Xuan first arrived, he found it difficult to adapt, but upon reflection, it made sense. Even in the original story, there were subtle hints about this, though it was never explicitly stated.

Take Kakashi as an example. He became a Jonin at 12 years old in the original story, but was he on the same level as his later self?

In this world, Kakashi at 12 would be classified as a standard Jonin, while the Kakashi at the start of the Naruto storyline was an Elite Jonin. By the time he awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan and mastered Kamui, he would be considered a Peak Jonin.

The strength levels were clear and transparent. For instance, an Elite Jonin could defeat a regular Jonin in ten moves during a one-on-one battle.

The Hyuga Jonin that Xuan and Madara had barely managed to kill last time was only a regular Jonin—a far cry from the three standing before him now.

"Three Elite Jonin? You really think highly of me!" Xuan said, inhaling sharply as he addressed Hyuga Tamamo.

Tamamo smiled at him. "Underestimating any opponent is against a ninja's code. When eliminating a prodigy, you must use every ounce of strength you can muster. Surely you understand this."

Xuan forced a dry laugh, remaining silent. Despite the dire circumstances, he wasn't overly concerned. He had left one of his Flying Thunder God kunai with Uchiha Masaru before coming here. If need be, he could retreat at any time, even against Elite Jonin.

As he exchanged words with Tamamo, Xuan discreetly opened a scroll. With a quick burst of chakra, a rain of kunai scattered across the area. Some landed on the ground, others embedded themselves in walls, and one even landed at Tamamo's feet.

The sudden movement startled everyone. One of the Elite Jonin immediately appeared in front of Tamamo, standing guard with a vigilant gaze fixed on Xuan. He doubted Xuan could pull off anything under his watch, but caution was paramount—he couldn't risk the princess being harmed.

Seeing their tense expressions, Xuan flashed a harmless smile. He had copied this move from the Naruto original: the technique Minato Namikaze used against the Fourth Raikage and his brother. Back then, Xuan had thought the strategy was ridiculously shameless, but it suited his style perfectly.

"Relax, they're just kunai," Xuan said casually, his words meant to divert attention. Internally, he was calculating. Facing three Elite Jonin head-on was a losing battle, but Hyuga Tamamo herself was only around Chunin-level. If he could capture her, the odds might shift in his favor. Alternatively, the seven Chunin present were worth 1,000 points each. If capturing Tamamo proved too difficult, he could at least eliminate them and escape using Flying Thunder God.

"You're wasting time. Kill him. We've already delayed long enough. This place is too close to Uchiha territory—we can't risk detection," Tamamo said coldly, her tone laced with authority.

The moment she issued the order, two Elite Jonin sprang into action. In an instant, their blades were aimed at Xuan from two different directions, poised to pierce his body.

"This speed… It's nearly double that of the Jonin I fought last time. It's pushing the limits of what my Sharingan can track. So this is the strength of Elite Jonin?" Xuan thought, activating Flying Thunder God at the last second.

During the Warring States period, most ninjas prioritized taijutsu, with ninjutsu as a secondary tool. The Hyuga clan, in particular, were taijutsu experts. As a result, the physical prowess of Elite Jonin during this era was unmatched, far surpassing that of their contemporaries. Their confidence in their speed was absolute.

They were certain this five-year-old Uchiha prodigy, no matter how talented, couldn't possibly evade their blades.

But their strikes hit nothing.

The boy vanished abruptly, leaving even the Elite Jonin unable to track him.

"Rasengan!" Xuan reappeared behind one of the Elite Jonin, a spinning sphere of chakra in his palm aiming straight for his target's back.

"Foolish!"

The Jonin sneered. With his Byakugan, he had seen Xuan's movements the moment he reappeared. His blade reversed direction with lightning speed, thrusting toward Xuan's throat. If this continued, Xuan would definitely be killed before landing his attack.

"Damn it!" Xuan cursed, disappearing again using Flying Thunder God. This time, he reappeared behind the second Elite Jonin, only to be met with another blade.

Whoosh!

Once more, Xuan evaded. His constant teleportation created afterimages all around the battlefield, confusing his opponents. The Elite Jonin, unfamiliar with this otherworldly technique, strained their Byakugan to keep up.

Initially, they had thought their clan leader was overreacting by sending three Elite Jonin to kill a single Uchiha child. Now, they realized it was a wise decision. Prodigies like this were far too dangerous—he had to die before he could grow stronger.

Xuan continued darting between kunai with Flying Thunder God, searching for an opening. But the Elite Jonin's experience was overwhelming. Their focus was unyielding, with no gaps to exploit. The Byakugan's near-360-degree vision made surprise attacks nearly impossible.

Frustrated, Xuan finally stopped on the roof of a distant hut, his Rasengan still spinning in his hand. He sighed, realizing there was no chance to exploit a weakness. Killing an Elite Jonin at this point was out of the question.

Boom!

"Eight Trigrams: Sky-Cleaving Slash!"

A powerful slash of chakra obliterated the hut beneath Xuan's feet, sending debris flying and shrouding the area in dust.

"He dodged again!" the attacking Elite Jonin muttered, his voice tinged with disbelief. How could a mere Special Jonin level ninja evade attacks of this caliber?

"I've never seen such a bizarre technique before," the other said grimly. "He must be killed tonight. We cannot let him grow any stronger."
