After the meeting concluded, Gen and Madara left the hall together, heading toward the Uchiha Shrine. In the Uchiha clan, B-rank and below jutsus were stored in the Ninjutsu Pavilion, while A-rank and S-rank techniques were kept underground in the shrine, guarded by special personnel.
Before long, the two reached the shrine, navigated to the rear, and opened a secret passage leading underground, entering one by one.
The area beneath the Uchiha Shrine was vast. It was Gen's first time there, and he couldn't help but glance around curiously.
Suddenly, a shadowy figure appeared with a soft swish. The figure was cloaked entirely in black, concealing both age and identity.
"Are you Young Master Madara and Young Master Gen? The clan leader has already informed me. Please follow me." The person's voice was peculiar, as if each word were being spat out one at a time, making it impossible to distinguish gender.
After several twists and turns, the cloaked figure led them to a stone door. The figure pressed on the third brick to the right of the door three times, and the stone door opened automatically, revealing an utterly dark interior.
"This is it. The two of you may enter. You're allowed to choose one A-rank jutsu each. The S-rank techniques are all sealed and cannot be accessed without the necessary markings." Having delivered the instructions, the figure stepped back and disappeared into the shadows.
"Let's go in, Gen!" Madara called out, stepping into the stone doorway first. Gen quickly followed.
Boom, boom, boom!
As soon as they entered, the stone lamps on the walls ignited automatically, illuminating the chamber. The light wasn't particularly bright, but it was sufficient for examining the scrolls.
Madara, familiar with the place, began browsing the scrolls one by one. As he did, he explained, "All of these are A-rank jutsus. The S-rank ones are over there, but they're sealed and can't be opened." He gestured to the far end of the room, where several pedestals were vaguely visible, each holding a scroll.
Seeing Madara's apparent familiarity, Gen asked, "You've been here before?"
Without turning around, Madara replied, "I learned my Dragon Flame Song Technique here."
Gen tilted his head and probed, "You snuck in, didn't you?"
How did you know?
Madara froze for a moment before quickly resuming his normal demeanor. He scoffed and didn't answer.
Gen chuckled, realizing he'd guessed correctly.
As he began examining the scrolls, Gen marveled at the collection. A-rank jutsus were treasures for any clan. Even for a powerhouse like the Uchiha, they were limited.
Roughly estimating, Gen figured there were about ten scrolls per shelf. With fewer than four shelves in total, the entire Uchiha clan probably had no more than forty A-rank jutsus. As for S-rank techniques, they were even rarer—he'd only counted nine pedestals.
"Great Fire Annihilation, Great Fire Destruction, Dragon Flame Song, Ash Covering Concealment, Infinite Flame Great Breakthrough..."
Clearly, the shelf Gen was examining contained exclusively fire-style jutsus. In fact, most of the techniques here were fire-style, with some lightning-style and very few of any other type.
After all, fire was the primary affinity of the Uchiha clan. A minority of members awakened a lightning affinity, while other elements were rare. For example, Gen himself only had a fire affinity, while Madara possessed both fire and lightning.
"I want them all! Even if some aren't particularly useful, I could sell them to that stingy system for a ton of points!" Gen's eyes gleamed as he stared at the scrolls.
"I've got single-target attacks with the Rasengan, evasion with the Crow Clone, mobility with the Flying Thunder God, and genjutsu from the Sharingan. All I need is a wide-area attack jutsu to complete the set."
With that thought, Gen reached decisively for the Great Fire Annihilation scroll. He remembered how, in the original series, Madara had used this fire-style jutsu to unleash a massive, awe-inspiring attack that took dozens of water-style users to counter.
Activating his Sharingan, Gen carefully memorized the contents of the scroll. The Sharingan's photographic memory made it easy to imprint the technique's details in his mind.
Once he finished, Gen replaced the scroll and reached for the Great Fire Destruction. He chuckled to himself, "Who says you can only choose one? With the Sharingan's memory, I'd be a fool not to take advantage!"
However, when he opened the scroll...
"What the heck? Why is this scroll blank?!" Gen exclaimed loudly.
Not far away, Madara burst out laughing, his expression full of smugness and schadenfreude. "Haha! Idiot! Did you think people wouldn't prepare for that? If these jutsus could be accessed so easily, do you think I'd only have learned one Dragon Flame Song Technique last time? Haha, you're too funny!"
Gen's face darkened. He glared at Madara, silently vowing that this arrogant tsundere deserved to be overshadowed by Hashirama for a lifetime.
Reluctantly, Gen returned the blank scroll and left the shrine.

Back in his room, Gen smelled something delicious. On the table in the living room, a meal had already been prepared. The six-year-old maid, Chiya Hotaru, was bustling around.
"Ah, Master Gen, you're back!"
Noticing his arrival, the young maid quickly placed the soup she was carrying on the table and bowed deeply.
Gen smiled and nodded, taking a seat at the table. The little maid dutifully served him a bowl of rice.
"There's no need for such formalities at home. Just relax," Gen said with a gentle smile. Seeing her hesitance, he added, "Sit down and eat with me!"
Chiya took a step back, shaking her head. "I can't do that. I'm just your maid. How could I eat with you?"
Gen sighed inwardly, knowing how deeply ingrained the era's strict social hierarchy was. Realizing persuasion wouldn't work, he feigned anger. "That's an order—sit down and eat!"
Chiya hesitated before obeying, sitting timidly at the table. She served herself a small bowl of rice and looked at Gen with a near-tearful expression.
Gen ignored her, focusing instead on his meal. To his surprise, her cooking was excellent.
As they ate in silence, Gen felt a rare sense of peace. For years since his arrival in this world, his room had always been empty. Sometimes, he couldn't help but feel a pang of loneliness. But now, with the little maid's presence, the space seemed livelier, no longer cold and desolate.
"This... isn't so bad," he thought.
Unbeknownst to him, Chiya secretly stole a bite of food, her face warm with happiness. Sharing a meal with Master Gen—it felt so comforting!
