Myth: The Ruler of Spirituality

Chapter 444: Cast the Lots

In the Nameless Valley, the great hero and the Sphinx stood facing each other.

The second question had already been asked; simply giving any answer would clinch the victory in this round.

However, Heracles could not be so hasty; he had to find the flaw in the opponent's words.

As for forcibly explaining... just as the Sphinx had mentioned in its questions.

Whether dividing the past and future from the perspective of time, or separating subject from object in terms of independence, these all seemed interpretable, yet in truth were not so convincing as answers.

This was perhaps inevitable, as humans themselves cannot understand what omniscience and omnipotence truly are. How can one provide a reasonable explanation for what they cannot comprehend?

There was a moment of silence in the field, with only the sound of the wind blowing.

At this moment, the great hero was even considering solving the problem in another way.

Yes, solving the problem in another way, not thinking about the problem from another angle... in fact, Heracles was no brute.

He dared to begin this wisdom-related question-and-answer session without any defenses, naturally because he was already prepared.

Relying solely on his own strength, neither the indestructible Lion Skin nor the poisonous teeth might be able to stop the Sphinx's domain of order.

But he possessed something obtained not long after the trial began, which could help him offset the annihilation of rules.

It was given to him by Ande... a power obtained from the ruins of an ancient human city of the Bronze Age.

On that day, a great flood flowed from east to west, covering the mortal realm for seven days and nights. It was like a hand of destruction sweeping the earth, bringing disasters of annihilation to mortals.

But on that same day, there were people who were erased from 'death', viewing the flood as a non-entity.

In this piece of history, Ande recreated the miracles of the past and transformed into a talisman.

He called it "False Immortality", and the great hero had confirmed before he came. Since in the valley at this moment stood the Sphinx and not Typhon, the Ancestor of Ten Thousand Demons, although its rules were powerful, they were unlikely to break through the shelter of this 'immortality'.

'Should I solve this demon directly under the suppression of rules? But to be strict, it hasn't really done anything deserving death.'

'Even today, I came looking for it myself...'

Heracles hesitated, remaining silent.

Yet before him, the Sphinx was evidently unaware of this.

"What, still not going to answer?"

"Give up... Humans cannot comprehend things beyond their understanding, gods are the same."

"True omniscience and omnipotence are false propositions... even wisdom like mine cannot answer them."

With a soft chuckle, the Sphinx shook its head slightly.

It did not believe this human could provide a reasonable explanation; this question-and-answer session was already over.

However, in front of it, the great hero's brows furrowed slightly.

He felt as if he had perceived something, yet it was not so clear.

"Sphinx... did you just tell me that omniscience and omnipotence are false propositions?"

"Aren't they?"

Casually responding, the Sphinx stirred the stones on the ground.

"...Perhaps, indeed it is a false proposition."

Slowly nodding, Heracles lifted his head slightly.

Facing the towering demon, the stature of a human is still too short.

"But whether it's a false proposition or not is no longer important, Sphinx, I have already found the answer."

"However, before that, I want to express my doubts about your question."

"That is your right," the Sphinx responded blandly, "You may begin at any time."
