The Hidden Sage vanished quickly into a torrent of information after answering Leyton's question. Originally, Leyton had planned to have the Hidden Sage help him with the Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom's exam questions, but the other party left before he even had a chance to speak.
"Alas~ One task hasn't even been figured out yet, and another one arrives. Does the Knowledge Moor have no one else to use?!" Leyton sighed inwardly.
After learning the function of that giant ring, Leyton couldn't fall asleep no matter what.
He simply got out of bed, planning to have Bugs Bunny experiment and see if it could successfully visualize it.
In its little nest on the side, Bugs Bunny, who was sleeping soundly, was rudely shaken awake by Leyton.
"Wah~ Boss, earthquake! Run!" Bugs Bunny exclaimed in panic the moment it woke up, ready to flee.
Leyton wordlessly reached out and grabbed Bugs Bunny's ears, pulling it back.
"Sit down, there's no earthquake. What knowledge did the Hidden Sage instill in you?! You're becoming less and less like a rabbit!" Leyton said, quite speechless.
"No earthquake?! Then why did you wake me up, Boss? I just dreamed that I grew watermelons on trees, and I was happily eating colorful watermelons!" Bugs Bunny muttered.
"Growing on trees? Colorful? Watermelons?" Leyton didn't know how his fat rabbit had strung those keywords together.
"I need you to meditate on a pattern for an experiment," Leyton said, not dwelling on the rabbit's sweet dream, and instead spoke of his purpose.
As he spoke, Leyton felt that what he had drawn might not be detailed and clear enough, so he changed his mind and said, "Forget it, watch carefully, I'll directly show you the real thing!"
He got up to turn on the gas wall lamp in the room, then quickly meditated in his mind, outlining the image of that giant ring. Subsequently, he vibrated his own spirituality, creating a resonance with the giant ring he had visualized in his mind.
A brass-colored ring constructed from countless gears slowly emerged behind Leyton.
Around it were several chains that swayed like tentacles. The gears spun rapidly, causing the giant ring to slowly rotate as well. As the ring rotated, illusory smoke and sparks constantly rose around it.
As this giant ring appeared, Leyton felt his own spirituality slowly draining away, but his connection to the spirit world was strengthened a lot. Leyton felt that now, his spells would receive blessings from the spirit world, his casting speed would increase, and the power of his spells would also be enhanced.
"It feels like a spellcasting assistant," Leyton commented inwardly.
Then he looked at Bugs Bunny, who was staring wide-eyed at the scene, and said, "Look carefully at the ring behind me. You need to visualize it for meditation later."
"Awoo! Okay, Boss!" Although Bugs Bunny didn't understand, it didn't stop it from thinking that its boss looked very cool right now! It wanted it too.
After Leyton demonstrated the appearance of the ring once, Bugs Bunny lay down in its little nest and began to meditate.
As Bugs Bunny's meditation progressed, Leyton felt the giant ring in his mind being touched. Leyton also entered a meditative state, then plunged his consciousness into the giant ring. This time, there was no obstruction.
Leyton felt a virtual light spot appearing around him. Immediately, Leyton used his consciousness to touch this virtual light spot. The originally virtual light spot seemed to have gained support and rapidly condensed, turning into a real, existing light spot.
Through this light spot, Leyton felt that he had established a deeper connection with Bugs Bunny.
Before Leyton could figure out what was going on, he was kicked out of this space again, ending his meditation.
"Boss, I succeeded!" Bugs Bunny jumped up excitedly from its little nest.
"Yes, try visualizing that ring in your mind while stimulating your own spirituality," Leyton nodded and said.
Bugs Bunny quickly began to try, and Leyton saw a shrunken version of the ring emerging behind Bugs Bunny.
Bugs Bunny felt very magical as it hopped around, but it couldn't reach the ring behind it no matter what. That ring seemed to exist between reality and illusion.
After hopping around, Bugs Bunny stopped and looked at Leyton incredulously, saying, "Boss, it seems like I can use cantrips without that hat now."
Bugs Bunny waved its paws, then paused in the air: "It seems like I still don't know how to cast spells, I can't use them."
Leyton was speechless for a moment. He thought this rabbit was a genius who could learn simple cantrips on its own, but it turned out that it could use them but didn't know how.
"I'll find that crow and have him help us improve the way we use it," Leyton said after thinking for a while.
"Boss, don't you not really trust him?" Bugs Bunny said doubtfully.
"You can even see that? But the reason I don't trust him is because he's hiding something from me, but that doesn't stop me from seeking his help," Leyton was a little surprised by Bugs Bunny's keen observation.
"Beloved of Knowledge and Wisdom, Ancient Guardian, Eye that Understands the World, Sage Enthroned in the Sky, Guardian of Reason and Knowledge." Leyton recited the honorific name of the church's angel in the Jotun.
"You're giving up on the exam so quickly?" The crow's voice quickly echoed in the room.
"You yourself know that those questions are outrageous?" Leyton replied speechlessly.
Then he added: "It's not about the exam. I have other things I need your help with. Do you remember the system that I told you about before that's completely different from potion-making?"
"I remember. You haven't given up on that yet?" The crow nodded.
Finally, he added: "Those questions aren't outrageous. As long as you master the relevant knowledge and flexibly use reasoning, they're very simple. This is something a detective is very good at."
"I've made new progress," Leyton directly skipped the crow's latter words.
Then Leyton demonstrated the ring again, while also explaining the ring's function and abilities.
After listening to Leyton's description, the crow was silent for a long time. When he spoke again, the crow's voice had changed. The characteristic shrillness of the crow was gone, replaced by a sense of majesty.
Leyton knew that the angel's main consciousness had temporarily taken over this incarnation.
"It's not convenient here. Let me take you to the spirit world first. In the spirit world, the power of this ring can be better demonstrated," the angel said.
Leyton only felt the surrounding scenery blur for a moment, then it turned into a pile of overlapping, brightly colored blocks, like an abstract painting.
When the surrounding scenery became clear again, Leyton found himself in front of a very abstract library.
"This is the library I built in the spirit world. Occasionally, spirit world creatures come here to read. Of course, if anyone asks me for knowledge, I usually throw a book at them from here," the original crow image had changed.
Wearing a brown-yellow hooded robe, with many wrinkles on his face, and hair and beard that were withered and yellow, the old man held a cane made of what looked like dead branches.
"Hello! I don't yet know what your Excellency's title is?" Leyton politely bowed to the old man, drawing the All-Seeing Eye on his chest.
Leyton's intuition told him that the old man in front of him was likely the angel's true form.
"My name is 'Tolka'. You can call me Mr. Hughes. I'm considered an outside member of the Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom. I usually stay in the spirit world. Even within the church, not many people know of my existence," the old man in front of him said in a very kind voice.
"Okay, Mr. Hughes, what are we going to do next?" Leyton asked politely.
"There's no need to be too restrained. Just maintain the state you usually have when interacting with my incarnation!" Mr. Hughes said in a gentle tone.
Then he added: "Let's test the range of the ring's abilities first. I'll find you some opponents. Oh, and this little rabbit of yours too!"
As Mr. Hughes spoke, Bugs Bunny, who was still curiously looking around at the surrounding scenery, was suddenly grabbed by an invisible hand and dragged to Leyton's feet.
"Wah~ There are ghosts here!" Bugs Bunny shouted in panic, hugging Leyton's leg.
Leyton couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth. He really couldn't understand how this rabbit could be so curious and cowardly at the same time.
"Are you ready?" Mr. Hughes asked.
"There's a bit of a problem, which is that I don't have many spells mastered, and I also need spellcasting materials," Leyton said somewhat helplessly.
After advancing to Wizard, he came with some spells, but wizards need corresponding materials to cast spells. They can't be as simple and quick as Beyonders using their own Beyonder abilities. In a place like the spirit world, Leyton couldn't find spellcasting materials to use for a while.
"I understand. I'll temporarily grant you some Sequence 6 abilities and some temporary spellcasting knowledge, so you can use spells," Mr. Hughes nodded and gave a solution.
"What about the rabbit? It's not a Reader pathway creature. This method shouldn't work for it, right?" Leyton asked for Bugs Bunny, who was hugging his leg.
"It's very simple. I can let it temporarily fully master the top hat it's wearing. This sealed artifact has the Beyonder characteristics of the Magician and the Clown. It can use those cantrips through this sealed artifact," Mr. Hughes also gave a solution.
"Okay, I don't have any other questions," Leyton nodded knowingly.
Hearing this, Mr. Hughes reached out and grasped in the void in front of him, and specks of brass-colored halo were pulled out of the void, and then he waved his hand and threw this halo into Leyton's body.
