"The surrounding plants were becoming increasingly huge, and I felt my emotions starting to get restless. The further I went, the stronger the desires in my heart became. Is there any way to shield me from this?" Leyton slowed his pace, realizing his body was already starting to have a physiological reaction.
"This is the influence of the divine power belonging to the Mother pathway. It doesn't have any negative impact on you. In fact, it's rapidly healing your body's injuries. I can't shield you from it unless your body itself rejects this power," The crow said nonchalantly from Leyton's shoulder.
"You call this no negative impact? I can't very well meet people like this, can I?" Leyton said speechlessly.
"We're sneaking in to scavenge for scraps, who are we going to meet? Besides, once the injuries on your body are healed, your body will recognize the effects of this divine power as a negative influence. Then I can use that as an excuse to shield it from your body. You need to use your brain more when things happen," Crow said with some impatience in his voice.
Leyton, who wasn't using his brain, decided to stop talking. Since the expert had spoken, he would just listen. Leyton continued toward the hospital. The plants he passed were growing so lushly that they were almost covering the entire road. Furthermore, basically all the animals Leyton saw, even the little bugs that had long disappeared, were emerging from the ground and beginning the great work of life's inheritance with their companions.
Finally, under the influence of this divine power, the injuries on his body were basically healed. Immediately, Leyton felt the reproductive desires that had been accumulating in his heart rapidly dissipate like water without a source.
Leyton finally breathed a sigh of relief. If the influence of this divine power had lasted any longer, Leyton felt he wouldn't have been able to resist. As a young man full of vigor, this kind of desire was really hard to endure.
The road ahead had completely disappeared, and all that remained in his view were dense, flourishing trees. Leyton felt like he had returned to the primeval jungle. Fortunately, the surrounding small animals and insects were all engrossed in their busy mating endeavors, and none of them came out to disturb Leyton.
Leyton struggled through the thicket for more than ten minutes before he finally saw something different.
"That is?" Leyton looked in surprise at the huge building in front of him, surrounded by countless vines and branches.
The entire building seemed to have come to life, constantly shaking and struggling, as if something was about to burst out from within. But the surrounding vines and trees were frantically growing and entwining around the building, seemingly trying to isolate whatever was inside from the outside world.
In front of this huge building, frantically entwined by vines and trees, stood a person whose size seemed pitifully small in comparison. From afar, Leyton could recognize him as the Archbishop of the Mardan Harvest Church. He had seen him before when he went to the Harvest Church with his father. The Archbishop was wearing a simple linen robe, with various plant patterns drawn on it.
Although from a distance, the Archbishop's figure looked very small in front of this huge building, Leyton, who had seen him at the Harvest Church before, knew that the other party was nearly two meters tall and had some giant blood in him. His figure was very upright. He was a very gentle person, full of maternal radiance. Just standing in front of him would make you feel very comfortable. He had long, dark cyan hair that trailed to the back of his heels.
Now, the Archbishop's long hair was piercing into the ground like roots and was still growing continuously, which made Leyton instinctively suspect that the vines and branches that wrapped around the building were all mutations from his hair growth. Although he knew that this was the other party's Beyonder power, Leyton still felt that he couldn't quite look directly at the other party's head of long hair.
Because the surrounding plants and the building in the middle were locked in a tug-of-war, a clearing had been left around, so Leyton didn't have to continue to squeeze through the thicket.
"The hospital you went to before seems to have lost control of something inside. The Archbishop of the Mardan Harvest Church is suppressing it, trapping it in this hospital. If the Church of the Earth Mother doesn't have any other saints, this Archbishop won't be able to hold on for long, and the thing inside will still come out then," the crow on his shoulder concluded after carefully examining the situation in front of him.
"Is the guy inside that strong? Speaking of which, why is only this Archbishop here? Where are the other people from the Church of the Earth Mother?" Leyton asked in confusion.
"They're inside that building!" the crow's gold-rimmed eyes scanned the surroundings with a blue-white light.
"Huh? Inside? Are they delivering themselves as sacrifices? How come the people of the Church of the Earth Mother are even more reckless than those of the Church of the Lord of Storms!" Leyton felt that he didn't quite understand the thinking of the people in this world.
"They possess a special Sealed Artifact that can aggregate or disperse the power of the same pathway within a certain range in a short period of time. Now, each of these Church of the Earth Mother people can, to some extent, borrow the power of this Archbishop," the crow explained.
"Then what are we going to do now? You're not going to ask me to go into that building too, are you? Not to mention that my small body wouldn't be of much use even if I went in, but I can't even get in now. There isn't even a gap left between these vines and trees." Leyton turned his head to look at the crow who had asked him to scavenge for scraps, asking in puzzlement.
"Just follow my instructions. I'll find a weak point in this seal. The person inside will definitely break out from that location. We just need to snatch something from the person who breaks out," the crow said calmly, as if everything was under his control.
He wanted to ask for more information, but the crow ignored Leyton, its eyes filled with blue-white light, carefully observing the path ahead, enveloped and entwined by vines and trees. A toneless voice echoed in Leyton's mind, guiding him to avoid the Harvest Church's Archbishop and head to the side.
Leyton had the feeling that the crow on his shoulder had suddenly changed personalities.
"Can this be logged in with a different account?" Leyton wondered to himself, but came to no conclusion.
Following the crow's guidance, Leyton arrived at the right side of the building. This position perfectly blocked the Harvest Church Archbishop's line of sight. However, Leyton didn't relax because of this; the vines and trees wrapping around the building were all derived from the Archbishop's hair, and Leyton had no doubt that these vines and trees were her eyes and ears.
"Don't worry, I'm using psychological stealth. Before we actively expose ourselves, the Archbishop won't notice any problems. Her main energy is currently focused on fighting the out-of-control monster inside the building," the crow on his shoulder said, as if knowing what Leyton was thinking.
Leyton nodded, then asked, "The one we're waiting for isn't from the Church of the Earth Mother, right?"
"No," the crow on his shoulder said in a flat tone.
"A Sanguine? Or a third party?" Leyton continued to ask.
Since it wasn't someone from the Church of the Earth Mother, it could only be the Sanguine originally staying here, or the third party vaguely hinted at by the clown.
"Both. Your target is the Sanguine, and my target is what the third party left behind," the crow said emotionlessly.
Leyton didn't continue to press the matter. The crow's tone was completely different from before, and Leyton was certain that it should have switched accounts. The current one was likely the main body's consciousness projecting over. Leyton also had some guesses about the other party's identity in his mind.
The building, entwined with vines, seemed to be undergoing an unspeakable transformation. Leyton even felt like he could hear the building's painful roar. It was so painful that he couldn't help but want to sympathize and approach to comfort it.
"Don't listen!" A calm, restrained voice echoed in his mind. Leyton felt as if he had been infected by the other party's voice, and his whole person became calm. His somewhat chaotic and confused brain also cleared up at this moment.
Leyton suddenly became alert. He had been unknowingly tainted by the sound. If he hadn't had this big shot with him, Leyton would have already been influenced by the sound and touched the vines wrapped around the building. Although Leyton didn't know what kind of impact this would have on the other party, he would definitely be defeated on the spot.
After cautiously taking two steps back, Leyton used his own spirituality to seal his ears, solemnly watching the building in front of him, which was already like a giant wrestling and pulling with a pile of vines and branches. A sense of weirdness spread from the bottom of his heart.
"Don't look at it. Your eyes can see more things, but for now, it's more than you can bear," the crow's voice echoed in Leyton's mind again.
"He knows about my Eyes of Mystery Prying? Does he also know that I have the characteristics of another pathway?" Leyton tried to maintain the stability of his expression and heart, turning his head to look at the crow standing on his shoulder.
Unfortunately, Leyton didn't see any information from the other party's eyes. The crow's eyes were shining with bright blue-white light, staring unblinkingly at the anomaly in front.
After being warned, Leyton, although very curious about what was happening to the building in front of him, could only suppress his curiosity for now, not looking, not listening.
Leyton just stood there, lowering his head, sealing his ears with spirituality, and using the corner of his eye to survey the surrounding environment to judge whether there was any danger and whether he needed to retreat a distance.
The crow on Leyton's shoulder, as if its soul had left its body, remained motionless. If he hadn't felt the strength of the other party's claws on his shoulder gradually increasing, Leyton would have even thought that the other party had fallen asleep.
At this moment, a faint blue glow secretly rushed out from the distorted and struggling building and entered the crow's eyes on Leyton's shoulder.
"Caw!" The crow on his shoulder chirped softly.
"What happened?" Leyton asked.
The crow didn't answer. Instead, the building, wrapped in vines and trees, suddenly stretched out a huge palm made of soil, moss, and blood-red thorns. This palm suddenly stretched out and then slammed down hard, hitting the ground in front of Leyton, leaving a huge pit in place, and then suddenly lifted up.
With the movement of this huge arm, the vines that had been tightly wrapped around the building began to be torn apart. With an angry roar full of rage, like a beast, more vines broke out of the ground and wrapped around the huge palm that had broken through the blockade.
Leyton desperately suppressed his curiosity. When the huge palm hit in front of Leyton just now, he almost couldn't restrain himself from looking up.
"Go to that pit in front of you and take the Sanguine inside away, quickly! This guy has completely gone mad and is preparing to die together with the Harvest Church's Archbishop." For the first time, Leyton heard a sense of panic in the crow's voice.
