My Wolf System -Rank-S

Chapter 17: The Attack on the Base

He said, "Mike…

You've been hiding your abilities. Why?"

I looked at him.

"Commander Glus, I… I didn't even know I could do that myself."

Glus nodded.

"If you're really that strong, you might even be able to beat me someday. That's good.

This base needs talented kids like you.

And summoning magic? That's one of the rarest kinds there is.

I honestly wonder why the system ranked you as SAL 2."

He added,

"When you're able to walk again, we'll need to re-rank you."

"Oh, and something else.

I don't know if you care, but the prize was that you get to join an A-rank mission.

Yes, an A mission."

Mike thought,

Great. That's the reward? I gave everything I had… haha.

Well, it's a military school after all.

"Thank you, sir," Mike said.

Glus walked away.

Finally, his friends could speak.

They rushed to his side and shouted,

"Mike!"

Lasa quietly asked,

"Are you okay?"

Kad smiled slightly, though his voice had a hint of sadness,

"Man, Mike, you've gotten so strong… (Too bad I'll never be like that…)"

Giel laughed a little and added proudly,

"You showed Fur who's boss. And Has too—he ended up with two broken arms."

Mike's eyes widened,

"What? Seriously? …Is he mad at me?"

Lasa shrugged,

"We don't know. He hasn't said a word since the defeat."

Kad leaned closer,

"But now everyone knows you have summoning magic. The news spread really fast.

Is it even true?"

Mike answered quietly,

"Kinda."

Then Glus burst back through the door—he had just stepped out, but now he stormed back in.

Why?

He shouted,

"The base is under attack! I just got word—it's the Suls!"

"Twenty of them. Every single one has shadow magic… and each of them is at least B-rank level."

Everything around Mike started to fade into silence.

Why now?

He couldn't even move.

Why were they being attacked right now?

Mike shouted,

"Glus! I have a system… it lets me level up!"

Glus turned to him, stunned—then—

BOOM!

An explosion shook the building.

Kad and Giel grabbed Mike without thinking, dragging him out of bed.

More explosions followed, closer now.

What was happening?

Glus, shaken but still focused, finally responded,

"A system? One that levels you up?"

How was that even possible?

Then suddenly—three Suls appeared right in front of them.

One of them stepped forward and spoke in a cold voice,

"Commander… Commander Glus. I've been looking for you."

He pulled off his animal-themed mask. The others kept theirs on.

Dog. Monkey. Lion.

The man with the lion mask now removed looked straight at Glus and said,

"Do you remember me, Commander? I'm Zur."

Mike stared.

Zur? Who was that?

Glus didn't hesitate.

He shouted,

"Run!"

Then, without another word, he drew his axe.

"Come at me!"

He charged.

The first blow hit Dog—his arm was gone in one strike.

A brutal kick to the face finished him off.

Monkey leapt at Glus, but Glus spun—clean slice to the stomach.

Monkey fell instantly.

Mike was still watching.

"Whoa… Glus is insanely strong… and I'm supposed to surpass him someday? That's impossible."

But then—

Lion drew a sword.

It looked like an ordinary knight's weapon.

The two weapons collided.

Steel against steel.

They moved farther away.

Mike could only watch… as Lion's sword—

Pierced straight through Glus.

First Zoio…

Now Glus…

Why? Why again?

Mike's vision blurred, but his mind kicked into action.

He opened his System.

He sold Bloodclaw, his first weapon —

+20 Wolfis

Then he bought:

1 Life Potion – 15 Wolfis

1 Small Endurance Potion – 5 Wolfis

System Update:

Health restored

Endurance: Can use 3 Wolf Strikes

He could stand again.

Mike shouted,

"Run! I'll catch up!"

Everyone stared at him in shock.

"Mike, what are you doing?!" Giel yelled.

"Go to the cafeteria! We'll meet there!"

They had no time to argue. They ran.

Mike turned to face Lion.

"You bastard," he growled.

Glus was still alive—barely.

He tried to speak,

"Mike… what are you… doing…?"

Mike looked at him, his fists clenched.

"Why do you know each other?"

Glus coughed, blood on his lips.

"He… was once my student. On a mission… all his friends died. He and I were the only survivors."

"He thinks it was my fault."
