My Story of Falling for the Class President

Chapter 2

Chapter 2: The Other Class President

'Yes, if no one else volunteers, I'll step up.'

The one who spoke up was Rena Kashii.

Rena Kashii is known as the cutest girl in school.

Her medium-length hair softly reaches her collarbone, slightly lightened in color. Her big, bright eyes and well-balanced features are striking. She's beautiful but always smiling with expressive emotions. A small beauty mark under the corner of her left eye is adorable.

She's serious, always putting others first with thoughtful consideration. As one of the top girls in the caste among the girls, she attracts people of all genders around her.

She excels in sports and always competes for the top spot in her year ranking academically. She can also play the piano.

Her nickname as the perfect girl is well-earned.

There's no room for objection; she's undeniably the right choice.

And I've liked Kashii-san since a small interaction we had in elementary school.

Voices of approval echo throughout the class.

"Well, then, the other class president is decided as Kashii. You two new presidents, go ahead and decide the other committee members after this."

The homeroom teacher completely delegated the rest of the proceedings to us, leaving us to decide on the athletic committee, library committee, and other roles.

It's still early days, but I couldn't help but wonder if this homeroom teacher is really okay.

'Tachibana-kun, nice to work with you♪ Let's do our best together!'

'Nice to work with you, Kashii-san! Let's do our best!'

I feel a bit disappointed in myself for not being able to look directly at Kashii-san's smile.

There's no doubt her smile has that much destructive power. I try to keep a poker face so she doesn't notice my blushing.

'So, Tachibana-kun, can I ask you to take over as host?'

'Got it.'

Kashii-san writes down the committees to be decided. Her handwriting is beautiful too.

Judging by everyone's reactions so far, I'm not confident we'll be able to proceed smoothly.

We call for volunteers for each committee. It's best if those who want to do it step up.

As expected, the girls' committees were decided amidst some chaos, but the boys' committees aren't getting decided at all. They have no intention of deciding.

"I don't want to be on that committee!"

"Why are you nominating people without asking?!"

The guy who just nominated me without asking says this.

Despite saying they'd cooperate, they have no intention of deciding anything. They just say whatever they want with smirks on their faces.

The boys aren't deciding, and the girls are starting to get irritated.

"Boys! Hurry up and decide already!"

The class is in complete chaos.

"Tachibana! Do it properly!"

"If you can't manage, just quit!"

A few of the popular kids and that annoying guy Koishi start heckling.

Koishi has always been quick to pick on me, but it's been especially frequent lately.

Even though HR time is almost over, the boys' committees are mostly undecided.

If we don't decide within the time limit, we can't go home until it's done.

The popular kids are actively working to ensure the boys' committees don't get decided.

The girls are getting frustrated with the undecided boys and starting to direct their complaints at me.

I desperately try to fill each committee role by nominating suitable people with reasons and bowing my head to ask for their help. But the popular kids keep overturning my suggestions or pressuring the nominated people to refuse, ensuring nothing gets decided.

Just as HR was about to end, Kashii-san finally stepped in to help persuade everyone.

With her captivating beauty that draws in both boys and girls, her request while smiling brightly carries immense power.

'As Tachibana-kun said, I also think you're the right fit. I saw you handling books with care before, so I'd like to ask you to be on the library committee. Is that okay?'

"Ah, if Kashii-san says that much..."

And just like that, everyone shyly agreed to take on the roles.

I get that their response to my request is different, but it still doesn't sit right with me.

Even so, thanks to Kashii-san, things started getting decided one after another.

Somehow, we managed to wrap up the first meeting just in time.

Starting off like this... I have a strong feeling things won't go smoothly in the future either.

Thanks to Kashii-san's influence, we managed to settle things this time, but those popular kids are definitely planning to keep making a fool of me like this.

It's painful to show such an embarrassing side of myself in front of Kashii-san, whom I admire, but I tell myself not to look down.

How did it come to this? I reflected on everything up to this point.
