My Story of Falling for the Class President

Chapter 11

Chapter 11: Class President Life (Day 2)

And so, from the next day, my official duties as class president began.

It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. Kashii-san told me to do my best, and though it's not a role I wanted, I intended to give it my all.

Once it started, things didn't go well at all.

To be precise, it felt like I was being obstructed full throttle. The members of the group from another town are mostly outgoing types, and they mess with me or interfere half for fun.

During the commands before and after class, they respond perfectly to Kashii-san's calls, but when it's my turn, they pretend not to hear or even say, "Can't hear you!"

When collecting handouts for submission, they refuse to turn them in. Just when I think it's fine and I'm about to submit them to the teacher, they suddenly say, "Ah, I'll hand it over now, just wait a bit!" and take their sweet time.

Watching them smirk and move slowly, I couldn't help but think it was harassment.

While I'm using the restroom, they say, "Sorry!" even before bumping into me, and then they hit me.

'Hey, what are you guys gonna do if I get startled and spill everywhere?'

I asked, just to check.

"It'd be hilarious!"

I was taken aback by how directly they threw their malice at me.

"You're gonna get pee on you, you know?"

After that, they stopped harassing me while I was using the restroom, but I wonder if they'd splash water on me from above if I went into a stall?

Thinking about that, I can't even use the bathroom properly at school. It's a problem.

Between the lack of peace of mind and the disgust, school isn't fun at all.

Since it's the start of the new semester, there's a lot to decide, so during the final homeroom, I swallowed my pride and asked Kashii-san to take over as moderator.

The meeting proceeded smoothly under Kashii-san's leadership.

"Why is only Kashii-san moderating?"

"Aren't you embarrassed, Tachibana-kun, even though you're the class president?"

Jeers flew at me.

'If you've got a problem, come at me.'

Though I'm average in build and strength, I said a line I'd always wanted to try out.

I got seriously scared when one of the hyped-up outgoing guys actually looked like he was coming for me.

"Hey! Stop messing around and let's get these decisions made!"

Scolded by Kashii-san, everyone smiled and took their seats. Isn't this kind of like a reward?

And so, the day came to an end. A day full of petty harassment wears down my spirit.

Just as I thought about heading home, Kousuke was waiting for me in the hallway.

'You should take all your stuff home.'

'?'

'...Some guys from Sho's class were talking about something like that.'

...! So that's what's going on.

I hurriedly packed my things and left with Kousuke. Though leaving together just means parting ways three houses down from the middle school.

'...Sho, why go this far?'

'I'm not entirely sure myself, but...'

Since Kousuke knows about our elementary school days, I told him about the past few days since starting middle school.

'...That sounds rough. Leave the stuff you'll need tomorrow here. I'll come pick you up in the morning.'

Kousuke, who listened quietly, arranged for me to leave my things at his house, which is close to the school.

I felt both grateful and pathetic, almost on the verge of tears.

'If I were a real man, I'd probably brush off this kind of harassment, push through with strength, or figure out a clever way to deal with it.'

The warlords I admired would cut down their enemies, solve things with strategy, or persuade others to calm the situation. They wouldn't care about something this small, right? I'm so insignificant. I couldn't help but grumble.

'...Even warlords would feel down if they were harassed.'

Kousuke's words of support brought a few tears to my eyes.

Such was the second day of my class president life.

Kousuke-kun's house is just three houses down from the middle school, and since the other two houses have wide parking spaces, you can see the entire middle school from Kousuke's room on the second floor.

Sho likes to hang out at Kousuke-kun's house, chatting lazily while playing old Three Kingdoms or Nobunaga's Ambition series games.
