Chapter 275: The Situation in Lisu County_3
At that, things suddenly became a lot clearer, but Zhu Xiong muttered, "That's quite an ambition, aiming for a regiment to take over three cities. He dares to think big. A regiment has only about five thousand people, can they really take over?"
Five thousand people is assuming full strength, but if the first wave of the apocalypse caused heavy losses, it would be good if more than three thousand survived, thanks to robust constitutions and fast reflexes.
"If they take over Linshui City right away, then gathering survivors and rolling like a snowball, their numbers could be much more than five thousand."
A full-strength regiment, and moreover, on the outskirts of Linshui City, their military encampment had plenty of weapons and equipment, poised to unleash massive combat power.
Just tanks and armored vehicles of this sort, most Second Orders initially might not even be able to overturn them.
"Speaking of which, why didn't you ask about the 117th Regiment just now?"
Zhu Xiong glanced at Su Han, who exchanged a look with Yan Tiejun and said, "After all, they are from the Armed Forces, and it wouldn't be easy to get information from the regiment headquarters. It is not too late to ask when we get back."
All of them had survived the apocalypse thus far, each with their own considerations. Naturally, they couldn't abandon the affairs of Lisu County halfway through; knowing the situation there was already a good gain.
During the conversation, Zhou Ziqing and the others had finished the inspection and came out with Sun Hu and his crew.
"There are no significant health issues, but some remnants of toxin remain, causing a slight delay in response and a slight weakness in strength, but it should be cleared up in a few days."
Zhou Ziqing reported the general condition, then added, "As for the toxin, it is speculated to be a kind of paralytic toxin, aimed not at killing prey but at paralyzing them for hunting."
He paused and then continued, "The fog is like a specialized cobweb, enveloping its prey, paralyzing them, then sending out poisonous creatures to hunt, and finally, perhaps... taking them back. This is probably what the teachers meant when they said it might have formed an ecosystem."
"Thank you for your hard work."
After hearing the report, Su Han nodded and signaled Zhou Ziqing to take a rest first.
Then Su Han told everyone, "Rest as planned for one hour, then continue on. The four of you will join the expedition, but stay in line and don't go looking for trouble. Old Zhu, issue them Spiritual Energy rifles."
"Understood."
Sun Hu and the others could only respond with wry smiles, nodding their heads; not being locked up was already a good outcome for them.
However, if things in Lisu County were already so dire, wasn't it a joke to still go there with so many people?
Although skeptical in his heart, Sun Hu knew his place and didn't voice his doubts.
He only thought to himself, 'They must be at least Third Order strong; even if they can't take it down, escaping shouldn't be a problem.'
An hour passed swiftly; the construction team and some Tree Domain warriors didn't rest at all, hunting creatures near the service area, planting Parasitic Corpse Willows, and building a perimeter wall.
In just one short hour, three hundred Parasitic Corpse Willows had been planted, with one every dozen meters or so, encircling the area multiple times from the inside out, along with a towering wall. The service area had already undergone a dramatic transformation.
Sun Hu and his group were stupefied at the sight, suddenly realizing that there was something unusual about this contingent; their Contractors were exceedingly powerful.

"Move out."
The team finished their rest and immediately set off towards Lisu County, this time advancing much more quickly.
Monsters were still incessantly blocking and ambushing them, but, under the directives of Zhu Xiong, Ye Kailing, Zhao Yaqian, and the others, the team took more decisive actions, thus slaying the creatures much faster.
After over half an hour, the entire team had reached the outer area of Lisu County, a broken roadside sign brightly stating there was only 1 kilometer left to Lisu County.
The fog shrouded the road, and from a distance, one could vaguely see some buildings beneath the veil of white mist.
However, on closer inspection, the white fog seemed to have a faint purplish color, almost imperceptible.
"The purple is the toxic fog, though it's not very noticeable right now."
