Chapter 633: The Return of the King to the World - Part 2
"The Law of Destruction: Wrath of Annihilation!"
*Ssshhh!*
Two black spheres formed in his palms and slowly descended.
When they reached twenty meters above the ground, they stopped, expanded, and then detonated.
*Boom!*
A devastating shockwave tore through the Forest of Eternal Silence.
Towering trees were ripped from their roots and reduced to ash. Elven and Dark Elven soldiers were flung through the air—their fate unknown.
The devastation reached the far edge of the forest, then spread another ten kilometers beyond.
...
The city of Lysoria overflowed with crowds—a sea of people filling every street.
The Festival of Worship for the Fire God had begun a week ago and was set to continue for another month.
People bustled through the city, eager to experience the festivities unfolding at every corner.
One of the main attractions was the grand parade featuring a massive statue—a representation of the Fire God himself.
The statue had fiery red hair and wore a billowing crimson robe.
Its hands were raised high, each holding a glowing red orb—symbols of divine fireballs.
A hundred people stood beneath it, bearing the enormous statue on their shoulders.
With each procession, the crowd erupted in cheers and laughter, echoing through the streets.
But suddenly...
*Boom!*
The once-clear sky darkened in an instant.
Black lightning cracked across the heavens, erupting with a deafening roar.
People froze, their eyes lifting from the statue to the sky—faces filled with confusion and unease.
"Is it going to rain? The sun was shining just a moment ago..." Someone muttered.
Before anyone could respond, the ground began to tremble violently.
"Earthquake!" A man shouted, his voice laced with panic.
That cry snapped the crowd out of their trance.
Chaos erupted as people scattered in all directions, desperate to escape.
Those carrying the Fire God statue panicked as well.
They dropped the wooden beams from their shoulders and ran without looking back.
In mere moments, a festival once filled with joy and celebration had devolved into utter chaos.
But before the panic could settle, a massive storm surged from the direction of the Forest of Silence.
It struck the city wall with overwhelming force, shattering it in an instant.
The terrifying sight left the people frozen in place, their bodies stiff with fear.
*Whoosh... Boom!*
A shockwave followed, crashing into the city without mercy—reducing Lysoria to dust.
Those caught off guard were swept away in an instant. No one knew whether they had survived... or vanished forever.
...
"M-Mhh... my work is finally done."
In her workspace, Arshley stretched lazily, leaning back in her chair.
She glanced at the towering stack of documents on her desk and couldn't help but smile.
For the past week, she had been buried in paperwork—an endless stream of reports and approvals.
As a result, she had barely slept or eaten properly. Yet, there was no trace of anger or frustration on her face.
After all, as the leader of mankind, it was her duty to handle the countless problems plaguing her people.
She sat up straight, picked up one of the signed documents, and flipped it open to read its contents.
"Eclipse Trading House, huh? I didn't expect them to agree to cooperate with the Holy Orthodoxy to support our farmers and merchants," she murmured, gently tapping the desk with her index finger.
The trading house was as mysterious as it was exceptional.
It had grown quietly, and before she realized it, it already dominated the market in the Holy Orthodoxy's most prosperous region—the South.
Because of their prowess, Edward urged her to pursue a long-term partnership—a suggestion backed by solid reasoning.
The Eclipse Trading House was highly advanced in commerce, employing methods no other merchants had ever considered.
With their expertise, they were more than qualified to work with the government to boost the economy and support the livelihoods of farmers and traders alike.
Fortunately, the Eclipse Trading House had agreed to cooperate, bringing Arshley a deep sense of relief.
She set the document down and picked up a black letter.
At its center was a black flame emblem—the new symbol of the Demon Empire.
Opening it, she began to read. Her eyes widened in surprise, then a faint smile curved her lips.
"An invitation to visit, huh? Liliana Crimson was right. It's time I paid a visit to the Demon Palace to discuss plans concerning the Evil God."
So far, she and Liliana had only communicated through letters.
The proposal in Liliana's letter was both intriguing and timely.
After finishing, Arshley folded the letter away and picked up another—this one a golden letter embossed with a dragon emblem, from the Dragon Empire.
She opened the letter and began reading. It informed her that her brother, Leon, had traveled to the Elven territory about a month ago.
"Oh?" Arshley's eyes widened in mild surprise, then a smile spread across her face. "This is truly exciting news."
They had been apart for a long time, and she missed him deeply. Knowing Leon was in the Elven lands brought her comfort.
Besides, the region was in the south of the Holy Orthodoxy—relatively close to her position at the Holy Hall.
"Since he's in the southern region, then…" Arshley folded the letter and moved to stand when a sudden quake rocked the Holy Hall.
She staggered, nearly losing her balance.
Clutching the desk, she looked around alertly.
"What's happening? An earthquake?" She muttered, furrowing her brows.
It lasted a tense five minutes before finally subsiding.
Despite its brief duration, the quake stirred a deep sense of unease.
Her workspace lay in disarray.
Documents that had been neatly stacked were now scattered across the floor. Sofas, tables, cabinets, vases, and crystal chandeliers had toppled and shattered.
The floor was covered in broken fragments—a heartbreaking sight.
But Arshley paid no mind to the mess. Her focus was on the quake itself.
*Knock! Knock! Knock!*
A frantic pounding came at the door, followed by Edward's anxious voice.
"Saint, are you alright? Can you hear me? Saint!"
*Knock! Knock!*
The knocking grew louder and more urgent.
"I'm fine, Edward! Don't worry!" Arshley called out, raising her voice so he could hear.
The knocking ceased, followed by a relieved sigh from outside.
"Thank goodness you're okay, Saint," Edward said, fumbling with the doorknob but failing to open it. "Is the door locked?"
"No," Arshley replied calmly. "The door's blocked by fallen cabinets and the sofa."
She then asked, "Edward, what happened? Why is there an earthquake?"
"I'm not sure, Saint," Edward answered. "But Louis said it started in the southern region."
At the mention of the South, Arshley's eyes widened and her heart skipped a beat.
"The southern region? Isn't that where my brother Leon is!?"
