My Life Changed with the Unlimited System

Chapter 119: The Empire Builder

Author's Note:

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share something important with all of you.

Due to parts of My Life Changed with the Unlimited System being pirated, and after receiving a ton of valuable feedback from readers, I've decided to rewrite and refine the series. This rewrite includes improvements in pacing, worldbuilding, character development, and overall flow, things many of you have kindly pointed out along the way.

If you've read the earlier version (before June 2025), I highly recommend reading it again from the start. You'll notice the changes immediately, and I believe it now better represents the vision I've always had for Ethan's journey.

Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding. It means the world to me. Your encouragement is what keeps this story alive, and I'm truly grateful to have you on this journey with me.

Regards,

Noah Caelum

Ethan raised his hand slightly, and with a silent command in his mind, a panel appeared before him.

It was different from any he had seen before.

A dark gold frame outlined the interface, and at the top, glowing in bold letters, were the words:

[Empire Builder Panel – Eternal Kingdom]

He focused on the section labeled Territory Management, and the display shifted instantly.

A map unfolded in front of his eyes, showing a top-down view of the land surrounding the abandoned observatory.

It was detailed and alive, with the terrain subtly shifting like waves on a lake. Trees swayed. The river near the eastern side glimmered with soft motion.

The observatory itself was marked at the center of a glowing circle, the heart of it all.

A note appeared at the bottom of the map.

=====

Territory Controlled: 1.02 km radius

Status: Stable

Environment: Resource Potential — Moderate

Threat Level: Low

=====

Ethan studied it for a moment. The radius was small. Just enough to cover the hill they were on and the river nearby. Beyond that, the map turned gray, indicating unknown or uncontrolled territory.

'This is just like the video game,' Ethan thought. 'But this… this could grow. Really grow.'

He then willed for the next panel to appear, the Structure Building Panel.

=====

[Structure Building – Basic Tier]

1. Barracks (Level 1) - 1000 Builder Points

Function: Shelter and rest area for soldiers. Increases morale and allows for proper rotation of guard duties.

Details: Houses up to 20 soldiers. Can be upgraded to improve defense, capacity, and recovery rate.

2. Wood Processing Hut (Lumber Mill) - 1000 Builder Points

Function: Processes raw wood into usable planks and construction material.

Details: Needs workers assigned. Can be upgraded for faster yield and efficiency.

3. Stone Cutter's Shed (Quarry Mill) - 1000 Builder Points

=====

'Wait a minute...' Ethan paused as he reread everything. '1000 Builder Points? What is that?'

As Ethan was deep in thought, a new panel shimmered into view before his eyes.

=====

[Builder Points]

Each building required resources to be built.

Resources required: wood, stone, and water access.

Alternate Option: Exchange Ascension Points for Builder Points

Current Ascension Points: 244

Exchange Rate: 1 Ascension Point = 1000 Builder Points

=====

Ethan's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Convenient," he muttered.

He didn't need to think long. There were too many things to build and too little time. And besides, those points didn't mean much to him at the moment. Not when he could finally begin laying the foundation of something real. Something his.

'Forty should be enough,' he decided.

He mentally confirmed the exchange, and the system responded immediately.

[Ascension Points -40] → [Builder Points +40,000]

"Let's get started."

The panel responded with a soft glow, the building options now appeared and neatly listed before him. Eight in total, just like what he had seen before.

Ethan glanced through the list once more. He then gave it some thought. He had roughly eighty soldiers who followed him here.

That meant four barracks, each one able to support twenty.

He placed them strategically, surrounding the observatory like protective pillars of stone and discipline.

One in the north. One in the east. One in the west. One in the south.

'This will do for now. Everyone would be responsible for their areas.'

He confirmed the selections, and the moment he did, the entire structure panel shifted slightly, acknowledging the placement with glowing markers on the mini map in his mind.

Next came the essentials.

Lumber Mill. He placed it closer to the tree line further south.

Quarry Mill. He marked a space near the outcrop to the west.

Storage Depot. Placed directly behind the observatory for easy access.

Field Kitchen. He positioned it near the southern barracks.

Sanitation Post. Between the eastern and northern side, keeping it functional and separate.

[Total Builder Points to be Spent: 9000]

The moment he locked the final building, a strange warmth spread across the observatory grounds.

It wasn't just inside him.

The entire air changed.

Even the faint hum of mana across the land thickened. Some of the soldiers sitting on the floor looked around in confusion. One of them stood up and peered through the open door.

"What in the world…?" the soldier muttered.

He wasn't alone.

Within seconds, others joined him. A low murmur spread among the group as they looked toward the horizon. One by one, heads turned, and eyes widened.

Buildings were rising.

Not built. Not constructed by hand.

Formed.

Wood twisted into beams without tools. Stones aligned themselves, stacking and fusing seamlessly. Walls climbed skyward with glowing outlines, as if they were following a divine blueprint that only the land could understand.

Smoke chimneys puffed to life on the Field Kitchen.

The wind shifted near the Lumber Mill.

A low grinding echoed from the Quarry Mill.

Everything was working.

Alden and Hera turned from Ethan as soon as they noticed the growing noise. They rushed toward one of the side windows of the observatory and looked out together.

"Hera…" Alden's voice trailed.

"I see it," she whispered.

Nine buildings. Fully formed. Spaced like how a strategist might arrange troops.

All of it had happened in the span of minutes.

Ethan then turned toward the commotion. A grin tugged at the corner of his mouth.

He then walked slowly toward Alden and Hera, who were still staring outside, eyes wide with disbelief.

"This is just the start," he said softly, more to himself than to them. "I'm going to settle a few more."

He joined them by the window, then glanced toward the eastern edge of the map in his mind. The river. It wasn't too far. Just beyond the slope that curved behind the trees. A perfect spot.

Ethan opened the panel again and selected Water Distribution System (Piping Node). He placed it near the riverbank, close enough for stable flow but high enough to avoid flooding.

With a mental confirmation, the Builder Points were deducted.

[Builder Points -1000]

The earth trembled faintly.

And then, a glow.

Just above the river, a small structure began to form. It was modest, just a rounded stone platform with a central pipe node glowing with runes. From that single point, underground channels began to spread like roots, threading their way silently through the earth.

A moment later, a ripple of soft green light surged outward from the node.

Ethan didn't need to look far.

Back inside the observatory, he could feel it, a subtle shift in air pressure, followed by the faintest sound of water moving through unseen channels.

The water system had connected.

Every building was now linked now. The barracks, the kitchen, even the sanitation post. All of it was supplied from that single source.

Ethan allowed himself a small nod of satisfaction.

"This is much easier than playing the video game," he muttered.

"What do you mean by that and what is happening?" Alden asked.

His eyes were still fixated on everything that was built outside. Even Hera was surprised. If this was some kind of magic, it was of a higher level than what she knew.

"I'm building the empire," Ethan replied. "Wait. I've a few more."

"What?" Alden was once again surprised.

Ethan didn't respond as he hovered over the selection, but instead of a placement option, a new notification appeared in front of his eyes:

=====

[Command Center – Special Option Available]

A qualifying structure has been detected: Abandoned Observatory

Would you like to convert the Observatory into the Eternal Kingdom's Command Center?

This will:

– Upgrade the interior into a multifunctional command hall

– Add a strategy table, war planning room, message altar, leadership quarters and a few others

– Automatically link to all territory-based functions

– Bind the structure as the Heart of the Empire

Cost: 10,000 Builder Points

Do you wish to proceed?

[YES] [NO]

======

Ethan didn't even hesitate.

"Confirm."

Alden turned to him, eyes blinking. "What did you just—?"

Suddenly, the entire room trembled.

A pulse of light surged through the floor beneath their feet. Not violent. Controlled. As if the very stones recognized a change in purpose. The air buzzed with power as the walls around them began to shimmer.

Bookshelves that had been empty and rotting slowly vanished, replaced by reinforced walls lined with magical etchings.

The cracked table in the middle of the room shifted and lengthened into a massive strategy table, complete with glowing terrain maps and token markers.

The corners of the observatory split open into new chambers, expanding inward with impossible geometry.

On one side, a War Room, filled with planning boards and old scrolls that shimmered with real-time battlefield data.

On another, a Message Altar, flickering with runic sigils used for long-distance communication across Anterra.

Opposite that, a small Leadership Quarters, modest but dignified.

There were too many changes happened right now. Be it the interior or the exterior of the observatory or now known as the Command Center.

Even the ceiling changed.

Alden's mouth hung open.

Hera, for once, looked speechless.

"What… the hell…" Alden whispered.

Ethan finally turned to them, his expression calm but confident.

"This," he said, "is just the beginning of the Eternal Kingdom."
