My Idle Dragonic System : Apocalypse descends

Chapter 6: TARUS CITY

A minute later, Max and Alex arrived in Tarus City — a bustling metropolis brimming with life and joy. Sleek hover cars glided effortlessly along the roads, the latest innovation in transportation, able to adapt to any terrain as they whisked passengers to and from their destinations.

"This is Tarus City," Alex said proudly, gesturing at the lively streets. "One of my family's branches is based here. We're one of the eight ducal houses of the Hope Empire."

He smirked faintly before adding, "If I hadn't left home without telling anyone, I'd have been picked up in a limo hover car — one of the most expensive models around." His tone carried a hint of boastfulness he couldn't quite hide.

Max simply smiled, saying nothing. He tilted his head back to gaze at the brilliant blue sky, silently resolving to himself: This is where my journey begins.

After a quiet moment, he turned to Alex. "Why don't you show me around the city? I'd love a tour."

But Alex shook his head. "We have to stop by my house first. My sister's probably worried sick about me. And besides, we need to change clothes before we explore the city."

"Fair enough," Max agreed with a nod. "I'm hungry, anyway. Let's go."

Alex hailed a hover car, and they climbed in. After paying the fare, Alex gave the driver their destination, and the vehicle hummed softly as it glided into motion.

---

Half an hour later, they arrived at a grand mansion in the prestigious Belium District — an exclusive area where no ordinary citizen would dare to set foot. The district was quiet, orderly, and exuded a sense of wealth and power, with wide, spotless avenues lined by opulent estates and manicured gardens.

The mansion itself was magnificent, adorned with intricate carvings and designs, its grandeur enhanced by the shimmering reinforced walls surrounding it — forged from meteorite metal, one of the hardest substances known.

As they stepped out of the hover car, it promptly pulled away — the only reason it had even been allowed past the district gates was because it carried Alex himself.

Just then, a sleek limo hover car rolled to a stop in front of them. The driver stepped out, bowing slightly as he opened the door for Alex.

Without hesitation, Alex slid inside. The driver cast a puzzled glance at Max, his expression clearly questioning. He'd only been instructed to collect one passenger — so who was this stranger in the faceless mask?

"He's with me," Alex said simply, gesturing for Max to follow.

Max dipped his head politely as he stepped in. "Sorry for the trouble," he murmured.

"It's nothing," Alex replied casually.the driver then drove off.

---

Ten minutes later, the sleek hover limo glided to a stop at the grand entrance of the mansion. The doors opened with a soft hiss, and Max and Alex stepped out.

Max's breath hitched as he took in the sheer grandeur of the estate. Towering marble columns flanked the entrance, ivy curled artfully around wrought-iron balconies, and golden lights spilled onto the cobblestone driveway like liquid sunlight. Despite his usual composure, he couldn't help but gape for a moment.

Alex, noticing his awe, gave a faint, amused smile. "This is just one of our branches," he said casually, as if referring to a modest office rather than a palatial home. "My sister and I stay here when we need to focus on our business in this city."

He then gestured invitingly, like a gracious host welcoming a guest into his home. Max silently followed, his long strides keeping pace with Alex's.

Inside, the halls were just as impressive — crystal chandeliers hung above their heads, polished marble floors reflected the light like mirrors, and a faint scent of jasmine lingered in the air.

As they passed, the maids and staff all bowed respectfully to Alex, murmuring greetings of "Young Master" — but their eyes often darted to Max with barely disguised curiosity. Some even exchanged whispers.

Their reactions were understandable.

Max cut an arresting figure, impossible to ignore. He stood tall at nearly 1.95 meters, with a commanding presence that filled the space around him. His posture was effortless yet perfect, exuding quiet confidence. His curly red-gold hair gleamed under the lights, rebellious curls framing his masked face like fire, hinting at a wild, untamed spirit. The mask only heightened his mystery — why would someone with such a striking presence choose to hide his face?

Even through his understated clothes, the outline of his physique was clear — broad shoulders, a sculpted chest, lean but powerful muscles that moved with the grace of a predator. Every movement seemed deliberate, controlled, yet brimming with restrained energy.

He was, quite simply, devastatingly handsome — the kind of man who didn't just turn heads but stopped conversations. And yet he hid himself behind that mask, as though he was guarding something dangerous. Anyone who looked at him could tell: this was no ordinary man.

Just as Alex was about to lead him upstairs to rest, a soft voice called out from behind them.

"Young Master Alex," the chief maid— Rose — said with a polite bow. "Miss Scarlett is waiting for you in the back garden."

Alex paused, then gave her a nod.

"Very well," he replied. Turning to Max, he added, "Rose will take you to a room. Make yourself comfortable. And Rose —" he gave her a pointed look — "see to it that he's given something that will make him look… blindingly dashing."

Rose nodded quickly, cheeks coloring slightly as she glanced at Max, then gestured for him to follow her.

Without another word, Alex turned on his heel and strode toward the back garden to meet his sister

---

When Alex stepped into the back garden, his eyes immediately found his sister — as stunning as ever. She stood gracefully amidst the blossoms, clad in a shimmering blue mermaid dress that hugged her figure to perfection. The fabric traced the elegant curves of her body, accentuating her alluring S-shaped silhouette, the snug waistline and flared hem making her look like she'd stepped right out of a dream.

On her lips was her usual casual, knowing smile.

"You really caused a lot of trouble this time," Scarlett said, her tone calm but laced with reproach. "Running off without telling anyone — when you haven't even awakened yet. You know there are plenty of people lurking in the shadows, just waiting for the perfect chance to bring our business to its knees."

Alex could only offer a faint, apologetic smile in return.

"Sorry, sis," he mummured
