My Hero Academia: The Dragon's Quirk

Chapter 213: Chapter 213 : The Dragon's Last Roar

The battle between Endeavor and Esdeath wasn't a fight; it was an extinction event on a miniature scale. The entire underground cavern of I-Island had become their personal arena, a canvas for two elemental gods to paint their masterpieces of destruction. The fire that burned with the Number One Hero's rage clashed with the cold elegance of the Tyrant Queen's eternal ice, creating a paradoxical hell where hot steam and ice shards danced in a deadly storm.

For Tatsumi, Akame, and Leone, trapped on the edge of this colossal arena, every second was a struggle for survival. They took cover behind the partially melted remains of a cargo crane, feeling the vibrations of every clash of power that shook the cavern to its foundations. Sharp ice chunks the size of cars shot past them, shattering into pieces as they hit the walls. A searing wave of heat forced them to duck, feeling like the breath of the sun itself.

"We can't stay here forever!" Leone shouted, her voice barely audible over the roar of the battle. "Sooner or later, one of their stray shots is going to hit us!"

Tatsumi, still fighting his overwhelming exhaustion, watched the fight with a mixture of horror and cold analysis. His strategic soul could see the pattern in the chaos. Endeavor fought with power and rage, every attack designed to annihilate. Esdeath, on the other hand, fought with cruel precision and elegance. She wasn't just defending; she was learning. She was analyzing Endeavor's fighting style, gauging the limits of his power, all while constantly glancing towards Tatsumi, ensuring her main prey could not escape.

It was then that Hawks' static-filled and desperate voice came through their earpieces. "Team, I have one last idea. But it's completely insane. It's our final gamble."

"We're ready to hear anything at this point, Winged Hero!" Leone shot back.

"Tatsumi," Hawks said, his voice now addressed directly to him. "Your armor is dead, but its core, the Tyrant's heart within, is still there. It's an unparalleled energy converter. I'm going to use the malware you planted and the access we got from the data we stole... I'm going to create a power bridge. I'm going to route the emergency energy from I-Island's backup generators, which are now unstable from the battle, directly into Incursio's core."

Hawks paused for a moment, letting them digest the insane information. "I'm going to bypass all the fuses, all the safety protocols. I'm going to turn the armor lying dormant on your back into a concentrated energy cannon. You will have enough power for one shot. One true dragon's 'roar'. But, kid..." his voice became heavy, "...the backlash will be immense. Channeling that much raw, unfiltered energy will burn your body from the inside out. This is a final gamble that might kill you."

The silence that followed that explanation was more terrifying than the sound of the battle outside. Akame looked at Tatsumi, her red eyes filled with a painful conflict. She knew the danger of forcibly releasing a Teigu's power. She had seen it destroy her friends in another world.

But Tatsumi didn't hesitate. He saw Endeavor beginning to be pushed back, his mighty flames starting to falter slightly against Esdeath's endless ice storm. He saw Esdeath, whose smile widened as she sensed her opponent weakening. He saw their only way out, the collapsed dock door, which was right behind Esdeath.

"Do it, Hawks," Tatsumi said, his voice steady, filled with a determination born of desperation. "Do it now."

"ENDEAVOR!" Hawks' voice now switched to the Number One Hero's communicator. "I NEED THIRTY SECONDS! NO MORE, NO LESS! YOU HAVE TO HOLD HER IN ONE SPOT AND DRAW ALL HER ATTENTION! GIVE TATSUMI AN OPENING!"

Endeavor, who had just dodged a giant ice rapier, heard the command. He didn't ask questions. He understood. With a震動 roar, he stopped evading. He landed hard on the frozen dock, planting his feet, and unleashed his full power not to attack, but to defend. A wall of condensed fire, Hell's Curtain, stretched before him, meeting Esdeath's ice storm head-on in a deafening display of elemental power. He was buying time with his own durability.

As all attention was focused on the duel of giants, Akame and Leone immediately formed a perimeter around Tatsumi. "Nothing touches him," Leone hissed, her claws ready to tear through any ice or rock that flew their way.

At the center of their small defensive fortress, Tatsumi knelt, closed his eyes, and prepared himself.

He felt it before he saw it. A massive jolt of energy. From a thick, severed power cable on the cavern wall, a blue-white arc of electricity shot out and struck the dead Incursio armor on his back.

The pain was indescribable. It felt like being struck by lightning from the inside out. His entire nervous system was on fire. The cold Incursio armor suddenly lit up, not with its usual green light, but with a blinding white light, so hot that steam billowed from his body.

Around his unarmored body, a wild green aura of energy began to form. It was a spectral manifestation of Incursio, an avatar born from forced raw power and the dragon's soul within him. A spectral dragon helmet formed around his head, its jaw open, not as metal, but as a crackling vortex of green energy.

Inside his mind, a war was raging. The dormant instinct of the Tyrant Dragon was now awakened with a triumphant roar, resurrected by this limitless wave of power. It wanted to destroy everything—Esdeath, Endeavor, this cavern, the entire island. A primal rage threatened to consume him.

But his analytical mind and his hero's heart fought back. Not him, Tatsumi thought, wrestling with the dragon within. Not to kill. To open a path. Focus on the dock door. Focus on the exit! He had to tame the storm within himself before he could unleash it upon the world.

"NOW, TATSUMI!" Akame shouted, seeing Endeavor's wall of fire begin to crack.

Esdeath felt the incredible surge of power from behind her opponent. Her amused smile now turned into an expression of wild, pure joy. "NOW THIS IS INTERESTING!" she exclaimed.

With one final roar that was a combination of three souls—a cry filled with logic, heroism, and primal rage—Tatsumi pushed both his hands forward.

From the mouth of the spectral dragon around his head, an unimaginable blast of energy was unleashed. It wasn't fire or a laser. It was a pillar of pure, destructive emerald-green energy, so dense it seemed to tear the air itself as it shot forward.

The 'Dragon's Roar' wasn't aimed at Esdeath.

It shot past her, striking directly at the pile of rubble from the giant dock door they had collapsed earlier.

There was no ordinary explosion. What happened was an event of annihilation. The thousands of tons of steel and concrete rubble vaporized in an instant. The energy from the attack then slammed into the rock wall behind it. The entire southern side of the underground cavern exploded outwards.

A massive wall of seawater, which had been held back by the cavern wall, now came crashing in.

The entire cavern began to flood at a terrifying rate. The first giant wave that rushed in slammed into everyone, separating the combatants and extinguishing fire and ice in one colossal hiss.

Tatsumi, after unleashing the attack, immediately collapsed forward, unconscious, his spectral avatar vanishing.

Akame and Leone, who had anticipated the wave, immediately grabbed him. They were now swept up by the strong current flooding the cavern. But now, they had a way out. A gaping hole that led directly to the open ocean.

Amidst the chaos of swirling water, Hawks could only utter a single word through his static-filled communicator, his voice filled with awe and horror.

"...It worked."
